That is exactly what I'm attempting to do.. Learn.. And I take any good information I can get.. I'm not pissing.. I am seeking information. I like how the word public forum is being thrown around.. Don't you have any usefull info on my question?? Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I'm glad you are o.k. Scotty.. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I always talk to the guys who fly circles around me. Charlie Mullins for example. I have gotten tons of advise from him. That is why I play up high. That is why I study the way a canopy reacts the way that I do. Apparently I am taken wrong here. I am VERY carefull and calculating. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

You aren't answering the question I asked Lisa, You are in fact moderating a pissing contest. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Good info.. Thank you for the input.. This is what I am looking for.. Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Scotty, I didn't say anything about swooping. a good 6 out of 10 jumps I hop and pop from altitude 13,000 feet . If you do the math I have as much flight time as a ????? jumper.. Not only that but I make it a point to try and learn something everytime I am in the harness.. I stay OUT of traffic and in no way shape or form do I put anyone in danger. I learn the envelope of any canopy I strap my ass into very quickly ESPECIALLY the slow flight characteristics.. Half of what makes a smart pilot is not putting yourself in a bad situation to begin with.. After all my life depends on it. You have no business telling me I have no business.. I wouldn't go near another person in the air for 40 jumps on my diablo110. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I've seen 300 jump wonders fly circles around 2000 jump gods that couldn't land on there feet 8 out of 10 times. It isn't a matter of jumps it is a matter of skill level and feel. Spare me the newbie speech please.. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Good info.. Thanks.. Rhino.. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Have you jumped a highly loaded elliptical canopy?? Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!
-
I'm approaching 300 jumps.. 60 on my diablo110, 30 on a diablo120, 10 on an fx114, 15 or so on a sabre 120, 15 or so on a sabre 135, 150 on a triathlon150, and a few more to boot. I have all standup landings. I appreciate everyones concern for my safety. I am touched, really... What I asked for is info on the flight characteristics of the tribraced vs diablo class. Please already.. This is not a pissing contest. And damn the lecturing... Take it somewhere else.. I'm looking for information here not opinions on my canopy flight skill. How many that have answered here have ALL standup landings?? Just curious?? Helpfull information that I am asking for is welcomed and appreciated.. Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I am a very good canopy pilot with all standup landings. Again if I wanted opinions on the safety of my decision I would ask. I fly the Diablo at 1.7 just fine and am very comfortable and carefull. Again for those of you that aren't listening. I will stay at my current wing loading what I am looking for is info on the bottom end of the tri braced canopies. All I want is more flight envelope at the bottom end. I am guessing if I get a xaos or velocity and load it at 1.7 I will get a much sweeter bottom end. Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

This doesn't help me.. Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Does everyone like the voodoo??? I'm getting a second rig and just curious.. Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Why do you say that Dan?? I like to wrench the hell out of a canopy up high. The fast turns and tremendous loss of altitude and the speed is what is fun for me.. The most I do on landing is a slow carve maybe 90 degrees at most.. But what I'm really looking for is info on the lift of the Velocity at the end of the landing? And is it as fun and responsive as the Diablo at the same loading? Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!
-
I am currently jumping a Diablo110 at a wing loading of 1.7. I now have about 50 jumps on the canopy and have had no problems.. The only thing I don't like is the lack of lift at the very end of the landing. I jumped a FX 114 and it seemed to have twice the lift in the last 10% of the landing. My question is if I were to get a Velocity 111 what would the flight characteristics be like in comparison to the Diablo110? I would like similar turn rate, even faster would be o.k. as I play high not low, I am looking for that bit of extra bottom end. Any input would be greatly appreciated. And don't refer me to another post.. Just answer the question if you have the time please. Thanks, Blue Skies!! Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I'll get some velcro put on my jumpsuit so I can tie it down. I have a single string collapsable slider so it has a tendancy to want to creep back up. I've never loosened the chest strap though.. I'll have to try that.. Thanks, Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I'm not talking about collapsing the slider. I am talking about pulling it down behind your head.. Rhino Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

O.K. I promised you an update so here it is. I purchased a Diablo110 a little while back. I am now loading it at 1.6. I definately have this thing dialed in baby!! Turn and burn!! I've put 40 or so jumps on it now and now that I have the true feel for the canopy I really am enjoying myself. Openings, I've had quiet a few openings that started in a dive. I have even double checked my body position on opening. Sometimes it happens. I have found that immediately upon opening steering out with the rear line groups ends the dive immediately. It's like once this canpoy decides to start in a dive it will stay until definate toggle pressure causes it to level out. At least at my wing loading. I just expect the diving opening now and correct as necessary. I can ALMOST get out of the dive by shifting weight in the harness, if I shift the weight early I can prevent it. Flight characteristics,, At 1.6 where I am if you are in a full turn with the rear risers cross steering is necessary, if in front risers it pretty much stops turning when you do flying straight down "almost :)" until you tell it not to. You have to be looking WAY ahead under this thing. It is fast. I have now learned to look much farther ahead in my flight path and am extremely comfortable under this canopy in relation to 20 jumps ago. I have pulled at altitude 90% of the time under this canopy to insure that I learned the flight envelope and didn't put anyone other than myself at risk. I still normally beat half the jumpers down and normally the plane. This is dumping at 13k!! It will dive baby!!! Try a front riser turn going inverted then bury that leg in the harness!! IT will stay in a slow corkscrew flying almost straight down with minimal effort. Landings,, at first I was uncomfortable now I feel much better and have utter confidence in the bottom end. I have stood up every landing under this canopy. Or any for that matter. I find myself coming with extra speed "in the sweet spot" without even thinking about it now. I just end up that way out of feel in the canopy. If you are the type that learns by feel like I do you will enjoy this canopy. Packing,, easy as can be.. I've had no problems.. Blue skies!! Rhino

I have heard many different things about pulling the slider down, flattening the canopy, making a more efficient wing. Does anyone REALLY know that a flatter wing is a more efficient wing? Aren't the big cross country canopies oval shaped wings? Does anyone REALLY know the answer to this question? Rhino. Blue Skies!! Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!! Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I owned a Triathlon. You can pack it any way you want. It doesn't make a difference. Just keep the lines centered.. Pro, Flat, Psycho, no matter... Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

Still no real answers I see. Just go here and look go there and look.. I'm not sure anyone really knows? Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!

I'll be honest with you I didn't like this canopy for the first 20 jumps I put on it. When I say I didn't like it I mean on landings. Up high turns were amazing, it dropped out of the air like a f16 going straight down in front riser turns, LOTS OF FUN!! The bottom end envelope on my canopy seems to be very thin, although I have stood up every landing on this thing. When they say the more airspeed you come in with = more lift under a "smaller" canopy they are very correct with the Diablo at this wing loading. I have this canopy dialed in now on landings. It does require extra air speed to get a decent flair on landing. Flying straight in is something that I won't do unless I absolutely have to under this thing. I've jumped other canopies at similar wing loadings "crossfire, extreme fx" that could be flown straight in with no additional air speed and have PLENTY of bottom end flair power compaired to this. Would I recommend this to someone else? Not above 1.5 I wouldn't.. I jumped the Diablo120, 20 times and needed much less airspeed for a "easy" landing. I'll update later as I put more jumps on this canopy.. At my wing loading I can beat the pilot to the ground poping at 13k.. What is that 4000ft+ a minute fall rate? I didn't say it wasn't fun :) Rhino

I put 250 jumps on my Tri150.. Get the rubber bands from Aerodyne Research and double them. Don't worry about bag lock, the rubber bands will break if they have to.. Also, Roll the nose completely on both sides, 4 or 5 rolls, medium stuff, and quarter the slider.. You won't have any problems.. I got wacked one time on my Triathlon due to what could have only been line dump. Also good to have a 20" pilot chute so the snatch force isn't too great.. Blue Skies!! Blue Skies and Smooth Rides!!
