  1. There you go thinking you are the man because you have jump numbers. Jump numbers mean nothing. Your skygod attitude is one of the things that I do not like about this sport. Rhino
  2. I bought mine at 1.85, now I am almost 2.0. What do you want to know?
  3. Congrats bro!!! Congrats!! Beautiful family!!!
  4. rhino

    I passed!

    Beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!
  5. lol I've jumped allot of them.. And for under a 2.0 wing loading I don't think anything can outperform it that isn't crossbraced. But I am one of those guys that loves a really fast turning, twitchy, hard diving canopy Rhino
  6. Good for the home owner. If the entire story is accurate.
  7. Damo a crossfire2 at 1.7... That will make you VERY happy.. Rhino
  8. Maybe you should stop stabbing your canopy with a pencil and it won't tear?
  9. I'll be there... The first Thursday - Monday... Rhino
  10. Damn!!! Now I have to delete Rhino1, Rhino2, Rhino3, Rhino4, Rhino5, -99 and Segador? And canopyNazzi? Damn man!! Rhino
  11. Saying limit the maneuvers is where high performance landings are concerned. It means ground him if him as a new swooper does a 180 snap hook before he has demonstrated a 90 carve. This is concerning high performance landings. I don't believe you got the whole sentence? Rhino
  12. Ron it is all good.. I know people with twice your jump numbers that still don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. The pilot must seek out someone to show them. It isn't your job to show some jack ass how to fly his canopy. If he really wants to learn and keep from killing himself IT IS HIS JOB TO DO THE RESEARCH not yours. You want to help him, fin.. Ultimitely it is his responsibility. Some are and some aren't. The ones that aren't might learn the hard way. That's fine. I was thinking more of a Triathlon or a Sabre. Not swooping canopies. I follow Derek's train of thought on this one. It isn't YOUR choice to let them or not to let them. The monkey is on the jumpers back. What are you the skydiving police? This I agree with. But the responsibility doesn't belong solely to you. It is more if not entirely on the pilot. I completely agree that we should allways be looking out for all skydivers regardless of numbers. I never claimed to know more than anyone. Here you are trying to make it personal. Your opinion is yours and you are entitled to it just the same. By the time any Johnnyhotshot canopy pilot gets under an hp wing he knows the risks involved. And unless you are a psychic you don't really know if he is a hotshot or a good canopy pilot in training trying to improve himself. Rhino
  13. It is called toggles They allow you to control the direction the canopy flies IT is the pilots fault again.. Not the wing loading... Rhino
  14. Wow!! Your beautiful new baby looks like my beautiful new baby
  15. Nope... The wingloading isn't to blame. It is not learning to fly the wing. That is to blame. And that is the canopy pilots fault.
  16. Fair enough.. I know this better than you can imagine.. If you are looking for a safer sport take up golf. Skydiving is inherantly risky. When accidents happen they tend to be bad. It is called a waiver. And if ANY OF YOU don't know what you are getting into and the risks involved in canopy flight much less skydiving YOU NEED TO TAKE SOME SERIOUS TIME OFF. Their are risks with lightly loaded canopies just the same. Again you can't blame wing loading. It is all on the pilot. ALL ON THE PILOT. That cannot possible be debated. What about them? If they were "taken out" by a canopy that is too small and too fast for them to handle it WAS THEIR FAULT FOR NOT DOING THEIR HOMEWORK. It wasn't the canopies fault. It is cause and effect. Cause was a bad judgement call while under canopy. Effect as you call it is scraping them literally off the ground. I watched a jumper at Rantoul last year fly himself virtically into the swoop pond. We did cpr on him for 20 minutes and he died right there in our arms. The canopy wasn't to blame THE BAD JUDGEMENT CALL WAS. Seriously people... You can't blame wing loading on people dying. That is a cowardly thing to do. Put the blame where it is due. On the pilot that made a mistake. It is all about one thing... ACCOUNTABILITY... To ones self and others around you. Rhino
  17. That has NOTHING to do with the wingloading and EVERYTHING to do with the canopy pilots judgement. It is the pilots job to do the research and know the ins and outs of what he is flying. I could have never learned how to fly a crossfire2-97 at 1.9 had I not got my skinny ass under that canopy and slowly learned to fly it. I do not support wingloading regulations. I think if joe 200 jump wonder wants to fly at 1.7 then let him. But limits the maneuvers he is allowed to perform under the loading. Make him do 50 jumps in double fronts if he wants to start swooping. Then make him do another 50 90degree carves. Then another 50 120-180 degree carves. Then the snap hook if he is ready. Make a canopy coach sign off on those maneuvers as they are observed. This has a closer chance of working than wingloading regulations. Make a canopy pilot try and learn to swoop on a canopy with a short recovery arc and fatalities will rise. I would bet my rig on it. I put these regulations on myself because I knew it was the smart thing to do. It was my decision to jump on a higher performance wing. I did my homework. I was VERY VERY cautious. If someone jumps on a hp wing without self regulating themselves then they are going to bounce and learn the hard way. Hopefully they live and learn. Using your brain = survival Not using your brain = maybe not Stop trying to blame lack of blanket regulations concerning wing loading for the deaths and injuries and start blaming the canopy pilots themselves. Part of what makes skydiving "canopy flight" fun is pushing the limits. Challenging myself. It is virtually me against the swoop. Me against the ground. I accept that challenge each and every time I fly a parachute no matter what size it is. If I die or bounce IT IS NO ONES FAULT BUT MINE AND I ACCEPT THAT. Every person that has left us or been injured under canopy MADE THAT SAME DECISION. That is what makes this sport so much fun. Quit yer bitchin. Rhino
  18. My prayers are with you and yours bro... Keep the faith.. Everything will be great soon.. Rhino
  19. A = 1.0 B = 1.25 C = 1.50 D = Unlimited If these were the limits I like the idea. Rhino
  20. rhino

    Liberia - why?

Probably because it is the right thing to do. And no one else will do it. Rhino
  21. I've had 3 so far. The first under the Diablo110 that I had. A toggle had come loose. I luckily pulled at 10k and rode it down to 5k before dizzily realizing that a toggle was undone. I was HOSTILE at myself for not catching it quicker. That is the day I set a hard deck for myself under canopy of no lower than 3k for deployment. It didn't take long at all to lose that 5k. Had I not had that experience I don't think I would have automatically responded like SkymonkeyOne said by automatically grabbing both toggles. The last 2 times I got it instantly. Rhino
