No, I am from Lake Tahoe California. Never been to SA, but want to go really bad as there is some cool BASE there. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Try it now. PS, any thought on an alternative color to the grey headers? I can't change the purple link color yet. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

You should post this on _MY_ forum then. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Can someone get me a couple copies from the plane. They are free, and they never gave me any copies. It would be much appreciated: Mick Knutson 2875-F Northtowne Lane #374 Reno, NV 89512 Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

You might want to look at all the different FJC's on BLiNC Magazine www.blincmagazine.com/reviews/ You also might want to post to the BLiNC new jumper forum, as you might find someone who is willing to lend/rent a rig. Never know. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

No problem, but this is the very feedback I need. If you could give me an idea as to how much larger you think it needs to be, that would help. I think most fonts are 10Points currently. I do know that the purple on Black is hard to read, and am currently looking for someone to help redesign the site look-and-feel to eliminate this issue, but that could be a couple of months away yet. Yes I did upgrade, and have asked for help in assessing anything wrong. So.....What can't you read? I can change things only if I know there is a problem. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Me and some friends have looked into de-commissioned anttennae. I think a free standing 400'-500' tower is between $100K and around $250K not assembled. This does not include land to errect it, permission to errect it. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Should ask on BLiNC for the local BASE jumpers. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Well, I can't pay anyone, and I don't make any money from the articles. This is YOUR forum, so whatever the rules state...apply. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

I am looking for people to help write technical articles and news for BLiNC Magazine. To submit articles, just go to the link below and fill in the blanks.... http://www.blincmagazine.com/cgi-bin/content/exec/admin.cgi?id=guest&pw=guest&login=1 Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

You should also look at BLiNC Magazine. in general as well. I have been adding documents since 1993 to this site, and continue to do so almost every week. http://www.blincmagazine.com/cgi-bin/forum/dcboard.cgi Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Well this has good idea written all over it! I know a CO jumper that did just that. Then, 3 days later, a friend got really lucky to go to a jump site where he likes to go, and found him very busted up, frost bitten, and had some frontal lobe damage. That is the stupidest thing I think you can do! Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

You really should be asking these advanced questions to the audience at BLiNC. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

I know, but my post was in response to BASE311. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

http://www.blincmagazine.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=BS&Product_Code=CONT&Category_Code=videos Continuum- Is the first installment of BASE jumping videos from around the world. It has scenes from Norway, France, Switzerland, Italy, Moab, Twin Falls Bridge and more. See crazy footage with some close calls and lots of cool angle points. All BASE jumping from the Colorado Crew and Friends. New aerials and jumps. This video is 48 minutes long, excellent soundtrack and worth every penny. Professional editing and great filming. Currently we only have NTSC but soon to have PAL and DVD. Order any of the following VHS NTSC, VHS PAL, DVD. When I skydive, I use a Raven. I do this because the cost of the Raven is far less than using my BASE canopy for skydiving. But Whenever I need to get some base canopy time, I just remove the Raven and insert the Ace. Easy. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

I would choose a Raven over a PD any day. Seen to many strange openings by several old timers using PD's. But the bottom line is, if you wanna BASE, get BASE Gear! You don't use a Triathlon for a pnd swooping competition. Right tool for the right job. Mick is totally right here. You are far more likely to get a variety of good answers to technical questions at BLiNC. There are as many different ways of dressing the nose as there are BASE jumpers. In my opinion, it really doesn't make that much difference. the only time I change my nose is "death terminal" (terminal velocity, and no worries about low pulls or object strike, so I can tuck the center cell in) and super-low (sub 200'--where I flake the nose cells individually rather than rolling the two sides). Even then, I'm not convinced it matters that much--it just makes a difference in my head. I pretty much always (exceptions above) just roll the outside 3 cells on each side (so cells 1,2 and 3, and cells 5, 6 and 7) into the middle, then wrap the center cell around the entire pack job. In my head, I believe that this will yield the best heading (because the outside cells inflate through the crossports...[insert long, rambling, boring technical discussion on canopy inflation]). But really, it probably does just about the same as anyone else's pet technique. And this is a perfect situation seen on BLiNC....as I have a very different style and opinion on this subject than Tom. Tom's approach works for him, but I use something that Works for me. This is not an easy question... Some buildings are 8 foot stories, and some are 15 foot stories. Not to mention obsticles on the ground that can require more height. Maybe you should be looking on BLiNC for more advanced topics like this. This is not a newbie question at all. Where do I contact Diggs and the CO crew about these videos? Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Is this a BASE Video? Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

I hate to sound like....Whatever, but BLiNC will have far more technical opinions about this subject. And I can tell you this is a good one, as I have seen dozens/hundreds of slightly different ways. Not to mention all the threads already active about the slider preperation. Mick Knutson * BLiNC Magazine "Everything you ever wanted to know about Parachuting, but didn't know whom to ask."

Look, don't let anyone bullshit you! BASE IS LEGAL EVERYWHERE! I only think a handful of places in the world like the Troll Wall, and maybe Finland have actually made laws against it. The NPS has a permit in place called Aerial Delivery. This makes it LEGAL! However, the crooks choose NEVER to issue those permits. So by not getting a permit, you are breaking the law. Just like going to Yosemite and caming (NOT Jumping) overnight, but not getting a permit to camp. People do it all the time, but it IS illegal! Tresspassing is also illegal. But BASE jumping from an A, or S is NOT! Unless you fail to get permission, then you are tresspassing, not breaking a BASE Jumping law...
