I don't know exactly why this video bothers me so much...

These guys go to my school. http://filebox.vt.edu/users/mfeid/vtpage/milkmovie.htm -
You're not too old, a guy at my dropzone GOT his tandem rating at 57! He's 75 now and just made his 5000th jump a few weekends ago.

Watching Mr. Magoo is a Christmas tradition in my family. My favorite Christmas movie of all time is Gremlins, though.

I and about 10 other members of the Skydiving Club of Virginia Tech will be there.

I thought the episosde was absolutely hilarious, although they did mess one thing up. The aliens were not dropped into the volcanoes, they were just stacked up around the volcanoes, and then hydrogen bombs were dropped into the volcanoes, blowing up everything on the surface of the earth. Hopefully, we'll get to see this episode again although I'm afraid the Scientologists will sue comedy central to never show it again. They sue everyone who opposes them or makes fun of them. look at this http://www.scientomogy.info/threats.htm

I've got dive flows from last year, I'll PM you them later today. Me and my teamate (VT Wild Turkeys) got dead last, but it was still fun. -
Check out this video of Woolly's 1000th jump, and the celebration. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2970

What is the scariest thing you ever saw a student do?
jheadley replied to noluckned's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The first student I ever coached got so close to landing in a tree that he brushed the top of it with his foot as he went by. That's the scariest thing I've seen a student do in my short time in the sport. -
Does anyone have any videos of bad AFF jumps, or videos of evaluation jumps from an AFF rating course? I am curious to see them.

Make a skydive! I'm serious that works! A few months ago I taught a first jump course, and I had the worst hiccups of my life for the ENTIRE 5 hour course! That was really embarassing. But as soon as I made a skydive, they went away.

I landed off on a 2-182 form load 8-way, and we all landed 5 miles out in a field. We went to the nearest house, and the owner and his wife gave us all drinks as we packed in their yard and waited for our ride.

I was pied for my 100th jump on my 20th birthday. They slammed a pie in my face, and a birthday cake!

Would you rather wake up to find two rats having sex on your chest, or wake up to find a cockroach sucking the moisture out of your tear duct?

ok i'm in but i don't see anyone else

I never said I was trying to "save" the student, I said I wanted to catch him, meaning get down to his level, so we can make the planned skydive...

What are some things I can do to get my dive more head down?
-
I have my coach rating and have started doing coach jumps with students. I'm having a hard time chasing unstable students, though. I had one student take 2000 feet to get stable, and it took me another 2000 feet to get down to his level in a dive. What do you have to do to stay with the student when he's unstable? I can't arch hard enough to follow with them that way, and when I try to dive at them, I have a lot of foward movement.

One of my friends had a scary tandem mal. The drogue was thrown unstable and the drogue bridle was wrapped around the student's foot(when i say "wrapped" I mean more like "resting on". If the student had just pointed his toe, it would have cleared). The instructor didn't know, so he pulled the drogue release when it was time, and the bag came out and just flopped around above them. Thinking it was a drogue in tow, the instructor then went to the reserve and so he fired the reserve through the main risers. The main came out of the bag and entangled with the reserve. It would inflate, and spin the pair violently, and then deflate, and the reserve would fly fine. Luckily the main was deflated when they landed.

I'm Vice President of the Skydiving Club of Virginia Tech. Check out our website http://www.skydivevt.com We are a very active collegiate club with around 20 members and many alumni. We could help you start up a collegiate club. PM me for details.

when i mean a full line check i mean checking the position of each individual line.

I know a relatively young rigger who thinks it's necessary to do a full line continuity check after fixing a tangled parachute ( step through lines or risers). I've also been told by an old timer that all you need to check is if you set the rig down like you're packing it and walk the steering lines up, and if they're clear and on top of everything else, then everything has to be ok. He says you only need to do continuity checks if the risers or links have been disconnected. Who is right?
