  1. get a Pulse if you want a modern canopy that's easy to pack... it's as easy as folding tissue paper and putting it into the dbag even the ZP part isn't same the super-slippery stuff that my Nitron is made of; it's more like packing F-111 NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  2. I'll add one more comment to all this. The more I fly in the tunnel, the less desirable any "bagginess" to the arms and legs is to me. And I mean I absolutely despise it now. Plus, baggy suits will absolutely tear you up if you fly in high wind speeds over many sessions. I have been essentially "burned" by suits the chaffing was so bad. It feels like a bad sunburn. I'm at the point where I need to order a dedicated tunnel suit as my freefly suit I don't think would be up to the challenge without the extra zipper protection. I'd hate to blow it up because I really like it. Given carte blanche I would order a suit in a "middle ground" type of material, low drag but not skin tight (face it, not many people can pull that look off anyway ). This will let you layer something sleek like under-armour for when it's cold or if you're going to be flying a lot for extra skin protection. Cheers NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

  4. The guy was ripped apart!!? I hope it wasn't in a recirculating tunnel... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  5. wow, your post was making me nervous just thinking about it... breathe and relax dude (and use the "enter" key occasionally) NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  6. One thing to keep in mind about the tunnel is that you can't just jump directly to sitflying. You need to be stable and controlled on your belly and then your back (the recovery position when you cork out of a sit in the tunnel or the sky) before you start working on skills like walking on the net and then basic head-up flying. If he's already decent in the air in the sit position (not corking or chronically backsliding/orbiting) it might be better to just get coach jumps in this case as the progression from little/no tunnel experience to head-up can take hours and hours of tunnel. My $0.02 NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  7. Lawyers don't have anything to do with it really. And if you keep pumping rounds into someone who is clearly incapacitated there's a not insignificant chance you could be sitting in front of a grand jury at some point. There's a big difference between the Mozambique Drill and popping off a "f%$k you" round. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  8. Maybe in the 1970s... Mine's 21.8 lbs. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  9. lol, I still have the t-shirt from that boogie, and probably some videos with you in them too After a Cypres service, repack, 4 new sets of batteries, 20min in Perris and Hollywood tunnels, and a new Pulse 170 to save me from myself due to my recent chronic un-current-ness I am now back in the air again. I really need to head out to Eloy for a jumping vacation again... so tempted... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  10. I'd wager Cobalts have a higher chops to jumps ratio than the Stiletto anyway NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  11. Cash up front or don't ship. Agree on fill out profiles and/or call their local DZ to verify jumper actually exists. Paypal has some payment protection available as well if you want to go that route. Skype each other to go over the details face to face so to speak if you're still nervous and exchange a signed written contract of who is paying exactly what for what. That way if it all goes south later you can somewhat easily take the person to small claims court later and at least get something back. Personally I never had any problems selling a rig, various canopies, or gear I didn't need anymore online. I just used Paypal and then shipped once the $ hit my account. Good luck NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  12. Okay dude, I can sympathize here completely... however I only had to lose 20lbs to get back into my jumpsuits, etc and now I up to about 25-30 miles a week jogging/walking. I'm probably in better shape now than any time other than when I was soldier. What I did: 1. Stop drinking (or taper slowly if you are an alchy so you don't shock your system). Not judging; it's just calories. 2. Food log... and you don't need to go all OCD but you need to get an idea about what you are actually consuming on a daily basis... if you don't know what's broken, how do you fix it? 3. Exercise. Walk, weights, cardio. 4. I hit a weight loss plateau briefly so I went with an "EC stack" to help push though it. Be careful with stuff like this though... visit a doctor and get a check-up, monitor your vitals, and make adjustments as necessary. If you have any risk factors don't add any stimulants and do high-intensity training of any kind, especially if you aren't in any sort of decent shape already, because you could literally drop dead. 5. Read: http://4chanfit.wikia.com/wiki/Harsh%27s_Worksheet_%28WIP%29 http://www.hotnfit.com/ecstack/ec-dosages Be honest with yourself and patient... you can do it... it takes time and h a r d w o r k. Getting started is the hard part. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  13. Ignore the bad reviews. Most people don't know what the hell they're talking about on the interwebs anyway, especially students (no offense). Jumps are jumps, they all count however you still will have to complete the entire AFF/coach jump progression and demonstrate all the skills required to achieve an A license. Seriously, who cares if you need to do a couple more turns or front loops? You're there to learn after all. Another great thing about Eloy is that most of the instructors and coaches you will encounter there are typically world-class skydivers. It makes a difference because not everyone that's a great skydiver is a great teacher and you will find no shortage of mentors there that will suit your personal goals and personality. Want to get personal dedicated training? It only takes money and time. I'm sure there's no shortage of resident former/current shit-hot freefly or RW team members from the likes of Arizona Airspeed and others hanging around in the winter that will literally train you until you pass out with coach jumps if that's what you want. edit: I will also add that Spaceland, Perris, Elsinore, etc are all great as well. I've just never made it to Florida. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  14. No shit there I was... still pretty young, riding too fast down on a busy street in traffic on the way back from lunch. Slight bend in the road and then BAM a car pulls out right in front me. Only a microsecond to react and I slip between it and the curb. I tried to trail brake into the turn but there wasn't any room... my rear wheel barely touched the curb and I was launched like I was sitting in a trebuchet through the air at 30-40mph. I was airborne for so long I distinctly remember hearing my motorcycle scraping down the road as I waited for impact. I tumbled for what felt like forever once I hit the ground and when I stopped I literally jumped up, ripped off my helmet, and I had to look for my bike it was so far away from me... it was toast. Adrenaline can be a powerful thing. Wearing the proper gear saved me for sure. My boots, gloves, helmet, and clothes were completely destroyed. Paramedics checked me out but being young I refused to go to the hospital until the next day (dumb). Words can't describe how sore I was the next few days (week). It was like someone had wrung me out like a wet towel. But right after the accident, nothing but my heart pounding in my ears, for a while at least. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  15. You can easily pull that off at Skydive Arizona in Eloy as well. I knocked out my entire A license in a few weeks there back in the day. The only thing that slowed me down was soreness from jumping student gear which is never really very comfortable. Never once was I waiting on a load or an instructor to get free in order to jump. If the weather gets bad you can always walk 5 minutes and go fly in the tunnel (unless it's pouring down rain ). NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  16. ...and no one would bat an eye if a deuce-and-a-half full of fertilizer and diesel did the same job this about sums it up: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/syria NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

  18. well we're already tearing up the constitution, spying on citizens, etc... let's just start overtly doing it and form some death squads too while we are at it! brilliant!!! what could possibly go wrong? NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  19. 1. break-off (or close to it) 2. better be pulling by now 3. decision time 5k, 3k, 2k Depending on what canopy I was using I would occasionally snivel down to my third alarm but by that point it was usually pretty evident looking up whether or not the canopy was a ball of shit or my dytter just got scared. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  20. I'm sure something is being lost in translation here but I'm not sure what it is. The US is massive and has huge untapped reserves of all kinds of "resources". The hippies are just worried about us killing butterflies and such plus it's cheaper to strip mine someone else's poor country rather than our own most of the time. When people begin starving that would all change very fast. I don't really see any tangible benefit to intervening in Syria one way or the other. Even "Joshua" knew that sometimes the only winning move is not to play. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  21. My real concern with regard to that is our govt's current penchant for hardcore deficit spending. It's hard to do that when no one will buy your treasury notes, bonds, etc because you aren't making your coupon payments on the debt. This would tank our credit rating and potentially cause a slowdown in the world economy (hurting other countries more than us in the long-term). It's really in no one's best interest to cause a world-wide recession/depression so I really don't see any of that happening. In a complete SHTF scenario the US would just start peddling war bonds again and fire up the propaganda machine to sell them to the American public IMO. After all, it worked pretty damn well in the 40s. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  22. As if anyone needed a reason to avoid people pounding Colt 45, Steel Reserve, or King Cobra... The only reason to drink those is to get f*Ck3d up. People who are wasted tend to do more stupid shit and end up in ERs. Go figure. This study funded by the "The Captain Obvious Memorial Foundation". NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  23. lol, lobbing a pile of cruise missiles isn't "war", it's more like "inventory reduction of weapons reaching the end of their shelf life" pointless strike is pointless; it won't affect the outcome of the conflict it's not like you can realistically target all the weapons anyway; they have probably been moved around already so we're getting ready to spend a ludicrous amount of (borrowed) money to create piles of rubble in a country that is basically rubble at this point NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
