  1. Too bad you can't see past all the secondary issues to the primary problem and its solution. How do you expect to understand the mind of that omniscient being, Jakee? I stick with what He's clearly revealed to us about Him, and us. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  2. You lie, m'dear. You know that's not the way it goes down. We don't ever start out making a claim. We state our belief; y'all attack the belief with CLAIMS to the contrary-- "your god is a myth"... "it's all in your head", "he's an imaginary friend", blah blah blah... and there we go over and over. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  3. If I thought you were asking out of a sincere desire to understand rather than tear down, I'd be glad to answer. In the meantime, you can check out my previous posts on the subject. I've written 996 posts on dz.com, and probably 900 of them are about my beliefs or what the Bible says. I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over. No offense to you personally, of course.
  4. If you only knew how true this is... We state our beliefs, and others belittle our beliefs or try to convince us otherwise. One act is positive, the other is negative. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  5. Me too. How much could it possibly cost to set one up? Maybe the cost of one tandem jump out of the hundreds they do every month or two? Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  6. No, jakee; in my experience, it's usually the other way around. A Christian merely says he believes in God (a profession, not a claim). The atheist/whatever says, Your God is a myth (the claim). You know that's how it goes around here... or at least how it starts out. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  7. Why would He not exercise economy in design? It wouldn't make sense to me otherwise. Anyway, would that do it for you? If the mystery of "male nipples" would be revealed, you might believe in God? Kallend usually just pretends any question about whether he could be wrong in his denial of God wasn't asked. I think he's scared to think about WHY he doesn't acknowledge God. [For proof, see last "religion" thread.] Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  8. So then you must believe in all the other gods out there too. Since they can not be proved to not exist? What else can we dream up that we don't have to prove to exist but instead just not be able to prove to not exist? by your logic we should believe in every thing that we can prove to exist and everything that we can not prove to not exist! I am sorry but that doesn't work for me and just doesn't make sense. Actually, logic demands that whoever makes a claim (even if it's stated as a negative) has the burden of proof. 9. This is true in many cases. But the reverse is true as well. If you deny something long and hard enough, it could be staring at you right in the face, but you'll never see it. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  10. Wow, your theology sure is. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  11. Yeah, the only cut away/reserve handles I've pulled are on a dummy rig that's not suspended or anything. I'm sure the real thing has got to feel a lot different... Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  12. I will DEFINITELY do those things ASAP-- thanks for this suggestion! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  13. I've never even pulled my cut away handle. Someone showed me how to service the 3 ring release system tho' (requirement for A), so I reckon I could put it back together again after cutting away (on the ground). I think it would be good to require students to learn all the parts of the rig and what they do, as well as parts which have options to them, as well as the pros and cons of those options, such as the links. 14. Mine had a really neat SD presentation my first year. The pilot gave a talk, the dzo gave a talk, a rigger gave a talk, etc. They had a drawing for reserve repacks and jump tickets. It was really nice. The second year (dz changed hands) I heard they did something early in the morning, but never spoke to anyone who actually attended, so who knows? Notices weren't sent out by email or on the "Events" section of their website. I was disappointed, 'cos I was expecting something helpful like the year before had been. 15. Congratulations for one of the funniest threads I've seen here. Actually, the cheerio experiment sounds like a good idea. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  16. ... I'm wishing I were! Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"

  22. "Uh," I said I wasn't very familiar with TDS. All I recall is Jon Stewart. Blue skies & happy jitters ~Mockingbird "Why is there something rather than nothing?"
  23. Yeah, I was kinda' surprised by that too. Don't know if it's true or not, but I was told that it would premiere on the FOX News channel and then be on the regular FOX network. A few things got a laugh from me-- the comment about some announcement airing on AirAmerica and therefore no one heard it; the ACLU ads ("protecting the rights of criminals since 1940-something"), and a few others. It seemed more of a contrast to what I remember of the SNL skits than being comparable to "The Daily Show," which I've only watched a couple of times. Jon Stewart is himself on that show, right?--- whereas the anchors on "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" were fictitious. I also enjoyed the tee-shirt vender segment. I only found one or two comments a bit distasteful... but at the moment (after video Skype-ing with my brother for two hours... zzzz...) I can't remember what they were!
