Ya! Come on over to Skydive Chicago!! Its an awesome place with 2 Otters and lots of great people. (Campground, cafe, bar, etc.) I have also heard good things about Chicagoland Skydiving, which is only about 40 minutes from SDC. I hope you have an awesome road trip!!

Yep, I drive fast. But not for any sort of rush, I just have a lead foot! But I do get impatient when I get behind some granny goin 50. (But I get impatient with most things!) That was one of the nice benefits of moving to the city. Here I can go 80 and I'm still slower than everybody else!!

In the elevators of my office building, they have little screens that show news and weather. Yesterday when I was in there they showed a screen with "Summer Festivals" and they had WFFC listed! They called it "World Free Fall Competition", and it said "thousands of skydivers gather in the skies over Rantoul, Illinois." "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! My dogs wear booties in the winter cuz they're total wusses and won't walk anywhere without them. (But they actually hate them) They also wear fleece coats cuz they'll just sit there and shiver without them. (they are really cute in them.

Just exit last! Arrange a second pass, strip down then, if you need some privacy. Of course, the LZ will be full of spectators. I might make 100 at the American Boogie, but I don't know what I'll do. I need to be more reliable with no wind landings before it's a consideration. (how many style points do you lose for bare assing it with a jock strap?) Ya, no shit! I might do it someday with a group, it'd probably be a hoot.

Ya, I would have to agree -- I'm sure someone would notice! In the U.S., at least. When I was at the resort most of the women were topless, and most of the other guests didn't seem to notice or care. (Most were European) Except the Americans! They were totally staring and doing double-takes. Men and women. Our country is so uptight, people just aren't used to nudity like in other parts of the world. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site

Me, too. I think it might be a memorable experience, but I'd have to be on the plane by myself. Of course, I did go to that topless beach that one time and that was actually very relaxing just sittin there with the girls hanging out... Maybe I could do it at a dz where nobody knows me... Right on! Everyone says I'm gonna be sure my altimeter is broken since I'll have so much time up there to just chill. But its gonna be awesome!!

I flunked AFF Level 2 jump... Has this happened to others?

HeHe... well you will be happy you're in Texas come January when you can still jump and all of us in the north are buried in snow! But don't worry about it if you gotta take it slower now. There are people at my dz who have been in the program over a year and just jump when they can. As long as you're still enjoying it!! -
Congrats on your tandems & welcome! Yep, it is a pretty great sport. It only gets better once you start jumping solo. Have fun!

Alright then! So then you can just go up with me and be my target practice in the sky! You wouldn't mind that, would ya?? I just need someone who can stay in one place cuz I know I'll be all over the place! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! Team Funnel #174, Sunshine kisspass #109 My Jump Site -
Thanks, I'm sure I will! Great to meet you!

Hey guys, I was just sitting here reading your posts back and forth about your levels and what you're doing wrong or right. From someone who just graduated and got my A, let me tell you -- DON'T SWEAT IT!! I cannot believe how much pressure I was putting on myself for each level. I was constantly worried about how I'd do on the next one, and I would beat myself when it didn't go just right. Its not whats important!! You jumped, you lived, you learned something! For the record, I did level 4 twice, level 8 twice, and level 10 twice. But the good news is because of my repeats, I already had my 25 jumps for my A by the time I graduated! And I also got lots of practice on my tracking and it really improved from my 1st one to my last one! In my AFP program, we have the people who crank through it and rock every level. Then we have the people who do one jump a month and have no urgent need to graduate any time soon. I always wanted to be the person rocking, but realized I am somewhere inbetween. Who cares! I got through it and had a damn good time in the process. -

Right! I already learned not to land between the canoe shack and a tree! Seriously, though, I can't wait to learn a lot from you, and everybody else I jump with. -
Lots of small dzs have teams training for Nationals. Plus, SDC isn't really a "team" dz (like DeLand and Perris.) Ok, well I don't have anything to compare it to, so I don't know!
-
Begging, pleading, buying people beers for rides!!!! Right on! Thats how I do it!!
-
I was just thinking about this. Now that I have my A, the world is my oyster! But, seriously, I am very curious what another DZ is like. I jump at SDC. I love that we have such great equipment, world-class instructors, and awesome planes. Also I think its to my benefit that I've had to get used to jumping with 23+ other canopies in the air. But it can get pretty hectic there. And sometimes the vibe is pretty intense with all the teams training, competitions going on and what not. I would like to experience a small DZ where there are no teams training for nationals, no huge groups of tandems waiting to go up, no huge planes. Just me and 2 other guys in the sky, and time to just chill before the next load goes up. Ya, that sounds cool. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! You will not earn that title, I won't let ya!! If you are feeling the urge to give advice, you can always bounce it off me. You will get it off your chest, and I will just ignore it. And won't you feel great when I actually DO learn something from you! -
Congrats!! Me, too!!

0:8:2 Woo-hoo! I graduated and got my A!!

Wow, I can't believe it, I actually finished AFP!! I got my A stamp this afternoon!! Woo-hoo!!! Go me!! Man, I still totally suck, though! I definitely gotta jump with some experienced people and work on my docking and tracking. But my hop-n-pops were fun! I wasn't scared at all and it was great jumping out by myself! I just enjoyed the canopy ride.

Smiles, you rock!! Thanks for sharing your expertise!!
