This really sucks. I've been having ear problems for more than 2 weeks now . I don't know if it's skydiving related because my last jump was almost a month ago. My left ear feels muffled and low frequencies resonate and drive me crazy... Feels like there's water in my ear basically, and I have tinnitus (ringing) when Im in a quiet place. I went to see an ENT specialist and he couldnt find anything. Had a hearing test done, and my hearing is fine. All he gave me were Allegra-D and Nasacort allergy spray, which aren't doing anything so far. It doesn't seem like Meniere's disease cause I'm not experiencing vertigo (so far). He wants me to do an Auditory Brainstem Scan or an MRI to see if I have a tumor. He's already taken most of my money and itll take 2 months for my insurance to send it back (I'm a foreign student), so I havn't given him an answer yet. He said maybe I damaged my ear skydiving. I've been jumping for 6 months and this has never happened before. I had a similar problem 2 years ago that went away after a couple days, but this time it wont go away. I'm pretty pissed at everything right now.. anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? If so what did you do and how long did it take?

Heh, nice timing dude . I type too slow...

Yeah, Trent is really amazing.. New album soon.. And I hope we'll hear more material from the Tapeworm project one day. For those who hadnt heard about this, Maynard (tool/apc) and Trent (NiN) had been working together on an album for a couple of years, but their record companies wouldnt let it be released on Trent's Nothing Records label . It all sort of fell apart apparently. One song can be heard on APC's new eMOTIVe album (Passive). It's the only original track on there, and it's pretty good.

Well, they were here first. And they're not bothering us too much are they?

Are you advocating that international shipping be banned from the oceans? No. That's not what I said, nor meant. Actually, that's another problem, considering all the cruise ships and oil tankers that collide with whales .

Some people know exactly how that feels. Sadly. But you have to realize how much dolphins and whales rely on their hearing. A better equivalent would probably be shining concentrated sunlight into people's eyes every now and then. Some interesting articles: http://home.gwi.net/~troberts/greens/News-2003-Nov/bdn_wray_2003_11_03.htm http://www.disinfo.com/archive/pages/dossier/id319/pg1/

People always think they know what others can stand or not. Someday (if we don't kill them off first), we might be able to communicate with dolphins (who are one of the most intelligent species on Earth!). It will be interesting to see their point of view. In the meantime, how would you like it if someone flew an airline jet over your house at 500ft? Every day?

I think for me, most of the nervousness went away after my first hop n pop from a C182. I was used to jumping at 13k from Skyvans or Otters, so that skydive felt completely weird. But once I was in the air, everything was the same, and I had plenty of time to get stable and pull. You should try getting in the air again as soon as you can, the longer you wait, the more you think about the what ifs and start freaking out. If you really want to do this, you have to just concentrate on your training, and trust your instructors and your gear. Just keep jumping. After a while, it will almost feel normal

I hear you man, of course it's not easy. Sorry you didnt catch my sarcasm. Like you, I was lucky enough to get a good education and a good job, but I hope you realize it's nearly impossible for alot of people on this planet. The point of the thread was just to present an independant media site to people who only know of mainstream news sources. That's a pretty neutral post for you to explode on. I don't understand why, but I'm sorry it made you so upset.

Yay, and it's as easy as 1 2 3 !

Does the american election affect the rest of the world?
kamih replied to bigway's topic in Speakers Corner
That's good then, you're an informed and responsible citizen. I wish more people were like you. I usually never post on Speaker's Corner, but today I felt like contributing, maybe it will have some small positive effect on some people, but I doubt it. I guess you just can't help people who don't want to know the truth. And yes, I also do take issues up with my government. -

Sorry PhillyKev, it's sometimes hard to keep track of who's saying what on these forums -

I'm afraid that's not the type of 'involvement' he's talking about. The US has a long history of meddling with other powers, without being invited (see my link posted above). -
Well since we have the Patriot Act, we are heading towards that direction.
-
I congratulate you in achieving such a zen-like state of total apathy

The reason for this is quite simple: Fear. You never know who could be a terrorist these days!
-
Yes, if your definition of communism is social and economic justice. You can safely ignore it all you want. I just hope you're not on the other side of the fence one day.

Like Patkat basically said, the more you jump, the more you get used to it. I don't think it ever becomes normal, at least not yet for me, but it's beginning to be an environment Im used to being in. I still tend to be extra careful about everything, but I trust my training and equipment. Other than that, I trust the universe for having good reasons for doing whatever it will decide to do to me. And I remind myself how lucky I am to be able to do such a thing

You can read the whole unedited transcript of Ben Laden's last video here: http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/79C6AF22-98FB-4A1C-B21F-2BC36E87F61F.htm but that's not really true (and please do not insult me by thinking that I agree with this terrorist). You say that they don't like the US influencing their culture, but if you think about it, the arabic monarchies have clearly influenced the US, especially when you look at the Bush familly and its ties to the military. And I mean come on, everyone likes coke

and the rest of the world can just go to hell!

Yup, that's almost the same words Bin Laden uses to 'justify' 911. Agreed, but proper education and knowledge of real history for the masses would be a great start.

I think the (american) author of that text knows the difference between democracy and republic. The word was used for his title to make a point. I'm sorry if you're missing it.
