In short probably not. Here is an extract from the BPA OPS manual, which I know is not directly the same as USPA but non the less worthy the comparison: i.e A minimum of 200 jumps, plus two other grades, IC1 etc. I also know that the CCI at my local dropzone will probably not allow anyone too jump even a modest sized flag with anything less than 500 jumps. Hey Guys, I recently started 90 front riser approches after some fantastic coaching by Paul Gurteen. Up until this point I have been creating a visual picture for my home DZ and just using my analog alti as a very rough doubly check (on approaches mostly). What I would like to know is what use could a digital alitmeter bring to being able to learn to swoop more efficently. I find a sight picture at 40ft for a 90 degree is much easier to get than a visual picture up higher. i.e Do pro swoopers use digital alti's when setting up for 360's and 540's? many thanks for any input, Marc Warwick University Skydiving Club -
Do you roll your PC and then fold the bridle into the crease in the middle? I do personally (never had any problems) and have been informed by some that you can reduce the chance of notting your bridle by folding the excess bridle into the PC before packing it. Get someone experienced packing it like this to show you before you try it however, rather awkard to descripe in text. Warwick University Skydiving Club

Hope the following tips help dude: 1. use plastic bags to cover up all the padding on the inside, unless you pull it out. 2. get craffy with the masking tape and cover up any rivots etc you dont want covered in paint. 3. get some (very fine to fine) sanding paper and gently remove all the varnish that uselly comes on the helmet. You know youve sanded enough when you have an all over matt dull helmet. 4. buy either a black or white, depending on what your primary colour is going to be, model primer. You can buy this from most model shops and simply acts as a base to provide a good surface for further paint to adhere too. 5. buy the paint you need for your design. I would recommend any acrylic paint that is in liquid form (dont get the stuff in tubes). You also need to get an acrylic thinner. Make a mix of about 50/50 - thinner to paint, give it a good shake and throw it in whatever spraygun youve got. You could use paint brushes with unthinned acrylic paint, but you will more than likely be left with brush marks. 6. buy some acrylic varnish. (usually shops which seel small tubs of acrylic paint will also sell similar size tubs of model varnish). Again thin this down to 50/50 and spray this over your final helmet design. 7. after letting the first coat of varnish dry for ATLEAST 24 hours (cant stress this enough, as it might seem dry, but the underneath can still be very wet), spray the whole helmet again with more varnsh 8. Repeat step 7 atleast two more times. This makes sure you have a nice protective layer of varnish, so that when the helmet does get scratched and dented it wont scratch through to your design. 9. Remove all the masking tabe and plastic and behold your new custom designed helmet. If you follow those steps I am sure you will be happy with the results, Warwick University Skydiving Club

I'm a WARP coach and I have to charge because its my only source of income. I have to afford to run my car and buy food plus pay rent. There is just no other way of doing it. Hey, I have put over 150 jumps on my pilot 150 and from my expierence the best way to pack it is to let the nose hang, dont push it in alltall (can cause a whole load of horrible malfunctions, no matter what canopy) , dont roll it, dont even kiss it ;). The slider wants to be about 1/2" infront of the nose, no more no less. Also only put as many rolls in the tail as you need to be able to keep it under control, less is better. On average my pilot takes about 800ft to open and is so gentle its been quoted as "falling through butter". I particularly like this feature as after 6-7 jumps my shoulders and back still feel like there connected. As far as the off heading openings go, ive found the pilot can be quite sensitive to body position on deployment. When I first started out it was going all over the place, but has now settled down into about 95% dead on heading openings, mostly due to just looking at the horizon on deployment. Come on guys, enough of the scargill bashing alright? I would just like to add that I personally feel hinton is a great dropzone. I understand some people have had issues with it, but crossing swords with mike is never a clever idea on the best of days. I think you will always find someone who has had a bad experience at any dropzone, myself included. I have been a regular at hinton for over 2+ years now, and chose it this year as the Dropzone to take all our students too (80+ people) for the very reason that I feel its safe, accomadating and friendly (busy wkends not included). At the end of the day rules are rules, and I more than anyone get frustrated when they get in my way. Ive had my fair share of 'discussions' with mike, not always skydiving related, and at the end of the day I still feel he & geoff run a great ship. As im sure you are aware, and this is more to anyone reading this thread, make sure that your keep this up high and not when other canopies are around. It might also not be a bad idea to let DZ Control know what you are planning. I was at a dropzone once and a newly qualified jumper was attempting this at 500ft. DZ control thought they were actually having some sort of funky malfunction. Warwick University Skydiving Club

I dont thing there is any particular need to be able to do all of that if your first interest is filming RW. The other stuff about being able to fly your slot flawlessly without consious input is certainly important. The first thing you will notice when jumping with a camera is that it can become a massive distraction. I would call it 'shot syndyone' :) You have enough jumps to try jumping with one, just dont try anything you wouldnt normally do. My first action would be to get some good advice from a seasoned camera flyer at your local DZ and take it from there. Safe swoops, Warwick University Skydiving Club

Heya, I have searched the forums extensively for a similar topic as im sure its been on here before, but cant for the live of me find anything.
