  1. Thanks Tom. i wasn't sure if I should mention the DZ I was going to be at, however I have got lots of PMs to help. Captain Kim
  2. Funny, whenever I was asked to give the shake, I just grabbed the nearest guy's crotch and was allowed to pass. I guess I got it right. Captain Kim
  3. Hello again everyone. Happy holidays. I'm going to be leaving for AZ soon. The big holiday boogie. I heard out there is a legal cliff about 500 feet high out there. Any news on that? Kim
  4. Wow what a crappy thing to do! I hope you aren't serious. If you have anger issues about your life, why take it out onn a person when it is your job to help them? If I had a crappy day, you bet your butt if I'm helping a client, I'll either forget it until the session is over, or tell the client I can't see them. Again if you're kidding, then brush my post off.
  5. Thats what I thought. If you were a massage therapist that was always stressed and spoke angrily, what would that do for business? I know that since there is more bureaucracy involved in hospital care, and paramedic stuff, that it doesn't work that way. Captain Kim ps Did I mention that there was a medi vac helicopter 1,000 feet from the guy, and for some reason they got another one which took like 45 minutes to show up. Many people complained at that since he was totally stable and just hit his head. Why did he need the chopper? It would have sucked if an accident happened and a mother and child really needed the heli, and it was picking up a guy with a concussion.
  6. Yes Dave at my drop zone it is understood that this is what happens. Last year we wound up having a fatality. A jumper hit hard into the runway and was practically jelly. We have a few jumpers who were paramedics that were working on him until they handded it off to the paramedics who showed up. When they did, there was a lot of time wasted while they argued on who should do the cpr, and when one person was done holding the patients head, he just dropped him. The reference to the girl who was forced to sit up while having a back injury did happen like 3-4 years ago (little after I started jumping), and to tell you the truth I would have tried to contact authorities if I understood what was happening. As far as I know, and I don't know much because it didn't happen to me, but nothing was done perhaps because nothing was said. I'm glad you all have had great relationships with the local hospital and the paramedics. I wish having a better relationship with the paramedics would help, but being as sweet as pie to everyone doesn't seem to work. There seems to be a lot of political crap going on that I'm not fully knowledgeable about, but it's there. Local rock climbers that I've asked have never been chastised for their sport, neither have the snow boarders. Before I write a book here, what I'm saying/venting is that paramedics should keep their comments and biased feelings out of their work. It takes a lot to ride in that ambulance and see injury after injury, deal with the politics, and still have a smile on your face. But being nasty and hurtful towards someone because you disagree with their choice of sport, is just plain malicious. Oh and thanks for the JCAHCO
  7. You know the story I'm sure we're all familiar with the horrible treatment of skydivers once they are in the hands of the EMTs and then the hospitals. I was reminded of this amazing attitude again this weekend when a fellow jumper hurt himself and onlookers heard one woman say "thats what happens when you jump out of a plane". Though this is by far one of the nicest treatments I beared witness too, it did just remind me of the previous treatment of other friends in need. A nurse forcing a skydiver into a sitting position when they knew she had broken her back in several places. Then what she said afterwards was a kicker "Thats what you get when you skydive". What I'm looking for is some advice as to how to handle this. Will going to the papers help? Is there any way to approach them that might make them more interested in what I have to say on the side of the jumpers? Also I heard a place called Jako, something like that, will come down hard on hospitals if they hear of mistreatment within a hospital. Can anyone get me information on that? Thanks Captain Kim
  8. Apparently Jason Bell should stand before a judge, according to Life magazine. They explain BASE jumping as being illegal 364 days a year. Take a look. Captain Kim
  9. Check out this page on Feline Terminal Velocity and how they land on their feet. http://ffden-2.phys.uaf.edu/211.web.stuff/Kuhns/terminal_velocity.htm
  10. Anyone out ther a singer perhaps? I strained my voice in July and it is STILL hoarse from then. Is it possible it's wrecked for life? I was reading online about vocal scarring and laryngologists and stuff. I'm in the NY area and have never heard of laryngologists. I also don't have insurance, however my voice is very important to me, and it's frustrating and scary that it has been not quite the same for months. Any help would, uh help I guess. Captain Kim
  11. That was a FUNNY thread! In all seriousness, it works though doesn't it? I've got some great ideas and I feel very confident. Captain Kim
  12. REALLY?! So call up the place ask who does the windows, then offer to save them money under the guise of another window company? Then go check it out? Correct me if I'm wrong. I never thought of that. I may just try that. Captain Kim
  13. Yeah there are no other base jumpers around here. Upstate there are and I'm good friends with some of them. I think I'd be the first off many if not all of the objects I have my eye on out here.
  14. I have been looking at a big building by me. Of course when I go to the stair well, signs are posted saying there is no access to the roof. However I got to the top floor and the door was opened. I didn't see anything stopping me from just taking a peek to see what was where. I didn't see any cameras. Not even that little security magnet attached to the door to tell you when it is ajar. Now I'm not sure if I should tell you what kind of building this is or not, residential, business, etc. However it may help if I did. I figured as long as there was no rig on my back and I wasn't picking any locks I would be safe from trouble. But my friend was cautioning me not to open the door and look around. My perspective is, if it was easy to get there an no locked doors or horrible signs of persecution stood in my way then I could just play dumb if security got in my way. Again there was no sign saying not to enter, only one on the first and fifth floor telling me there was no roof access via the stairs. Was I proceeding like a jerk? Do you think I would have gotten in trouble? Broad daylight just in a building going up the stairs to the upper most floor (and then to the roof). Simple and legal right? Any help would be great. Thanks everyone. Captain Kim
  15. Actually Reiki is one of the only energy systems that can never harm. Anyone associated with it or who has read about it will most likely know that. The energy always flows for the highest good of the person. If it is not the highest good, it simply will not flow. Going for hours is no big deal with Reiki. The reason being is that the practitioner does not control the Reiki. They do not make the Reiki either. It flows (again) for the highest good. If the client has a broken bone and wants the practitioner to give Reiki to it, the energy may just go to their emotional field if that is where they need it. "Moving" the energy as you say is not what a Reiki practitioner does. Of course if the client requests you to stop, then that is respected. But you can never get too much Reiki.
  16. Nope you aren't offending me. I'm used to that actually. It really doesn't look like anything is happening, however the opposite is true. I'm a Reiki Master (which just means teacher). I wish I could show you one on one. I've done it for plenty of people who laughed at me on the DZ (the Ranch) and they walked away with their mouths opened, not knowing what to say. I'm sure if you spoke up you'll find someone on the DZ who does Reiki that you can get a free session from. All the best Captain Kim
  17. Thanks Pope and Gweeks, you've helped a lot as well. Captain Kim
  18. Thanks Tom You've been a real help.
  19. I'm also trying my darndest to get a reg number from another antenna. I got nothing but a phone number that directed me to the FAA. Seems they own this antenna, but the reg number is in the building inside the gate. Various signs are around this antenna including one that says it is used for FAA communications and that loss of life may occur if tampering of any kind is done to the antenna. This made me think. Is this antenna a "hotter" antenna than say a Verizon tower? Seems like it is. Maybe it is one I should stay away from if the FAA has such a specific warning sign on it.
  20. I've already done that, however I didn't know that you can see how much energy it puts off. Is there an "energy emmission" field on the fcc page that I should see? I did see that in their "center of AM array" section it is blank. So it isn't an AM structure. Under EMI it says no.
  21. Thanks Tom, I appreciate you personally answering this post. I've been doing some homework on AM towers and telling them apart. Also, to cover my bases, I'm checking the towers out with other various Base jumpers that have experience with AM s so I know what not to jump. Last thing I wanna' do is fry on an antenna. Thanks again Tom.
  22. . . . And pay attention to it if it isn't jumpable?
  23. I found this on an antenna I was scoping out. I'm a very new base jumper and wondered if anyone had any imput on it. It isn't an AM tower. Verizon has a leased spot on it and AT&T as well. Can it be an AM tower as well? Here is the notice: Notice Guidelines for working in radio frequency environments All personnel should have electromagnetic energy EMEn awareness training All personnel entering this site must be authorized Obey all posted signs Assume all antennas are active Before working on antennas notify owners and disable appropriate transmitters Maintain minimum 3 feet clearance from all antennas Do not stop in front of antennas Use personal RF monitors while working near antennas Never operate transmitters without shields suring normal operation Do Not operate base station antennas in equipment room
  24. Can anyone help me. I forgot the name of two episodes. Here are some summaries. The first is a flick (b and w I think) where a guy (possibly an astronaut) thinks he is on earth. Something is bothering him that he can't put a finger one. Turns out it is another planet that is LIKE earth. A memorable quote is "Does the moon always look like that? . . . " "Sure if you're hammered." The other was an old b+w there was a monster terrorizing a town. It lived in the water possibly a swamp. They found out it didn't like sodium. A memorable quote was "Throw some campbell's soup at it" and "It's LandFill National Park." ANy help in naming these episodes would be greatly appreciated.
