    Ueber-Geek!

Hm: I was hoping it was going to be that easy. Maybe I’m just doing it wrong. I have successfully packaged Acrobat Reader and WinZip, though WinZip took me a long time and lots of registry tweaking. Lots of file association problems. I’m dreading repackaging some of our proprietary internal software, and server – client applications such as citrix clients etc. I will not be directly involved in creating the initial group policies but have a feeling I will work with them MSI deployment and what ever else the man decides to throw my way. .:skip

    Ueber-Geek!

Wow Zennie that is truly geeky! I’m uber jealous. Does the Gnome desktop and the instance of windows act as 2 separate machines on the network? While were at it do you or any other geeks who might be tuning in have any experience re-packaging software into an MSI database file? My company has decided to go active directory and wants to deploy all of our apps using group policies. I somehow got handed the re-packaging job (something I think would be more suited for a developer rather then a dumb network guy such as myself). In other words argggg HELP
  3. Can you unhook an RSL at both ends? .:skip
  4. Can anyone name a disadvantage or safety risk of having an unconnected RSL on a rig? I am an extreme low timer, just finishing up AFP and I’m looking into my first rig. Up until a few weeks ago I was leaning towards a rig with no RSL, however now (prompted by discussion in this forum) I think I would like to have one there. Just curious about any disadvantages of having it unhooked other than the fact that it will not function. Thanks. .:skip
  5. Yes Yes fingers crossed.. I'm still going through AFP at SSPL and I really really want to finish up this weekend.. .. .:skip

    Patched Canopy

Hey I'm looking into bying used gear soon, and I have chosen a Sabre 170 as my first choice in mains. Today I came across this add. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=New/2002-03-11.html&d=1 What kinds of things should I be asking about this canopy? It is 10 years old and has been damaged, should this defer my intrest. Now I make decient money and was fully planning on spending 900+ on my main, so the small price on this sabre is not a determinig factor, I was just curious about it. I have a month or three until I actually purchase any gear, I just wanted to get some feedback for this is the first time I have done this and well I just don't know. Here are some Pictures http://plaza.ufl.edu/tomblin/sabre/sabre.htm and here is repair invoices from PD http://plaza.ufl.edu/tomblin/sabre/PDrep.htm Thanks. .:skip

  13. I’ve always wanted to do this. Better late then never. 1:1:1 WOO HOO, do I owe beer for first “weekend ratios” posted on DZ.Com First dive exit towards the tail of the plane. First back flip, front flip, and just to make sure I could really really regain my stability first semi rodeo from my jump master. First harsh PLF, where did the wind go? .:skip

    Cycling

If you exit (south) at like Eldridge or Dairy Ashford, go just past memorial and park at any shopping center. There are bridges just past memorial, which lead down to what I think people call the Hochiemhin Trail, or maybe it’s the anthills. Very nice ride, you can take the walkways or take any of the neurmous dirt trails and go for miles. There are actually some really great hills (some a little out of my league). There are also some trails in Memorial park, though I’ve never ridden. I used to ride quite a bit; actually my favorite was urban biking through downtown and all the barrios. Unfortunately my bike was stolen about 6 months ago, and though I have had my ear to the ground looking for a new one, I find myself spending all my money skydiving. If you get something together though let me know, I’m totally down and hope to have a new bike shortly. .:skip

  17. HaHa happy belated Valentines Day to me!! .:skip
  18. Naw Ive never heard of an automotive, however if you like Modest Mouse you have got to check out THE SHINS. They sound like a Beach Boys (summer time music) Modest Mouse fusion. Kind of a mello thing going but never the less good stuff. I dont really make it out to shows anymore, just here and there when I have the time / money. .:skip
  19. Hell yeah, the Weakerthans rock. I'm going to try to make it up to South by Southwest to see them in to weeks, and definitely in Houston the same week. I'm actually all giddy about it like I haven’t been for a show in years. .:Skip - The Airports almost always empty this time of the year, lets go play on a baggage carousel.

  22. This has been done before, however it a timeless thread. What have you been listening to lately ( hidden agenda to expose a seldom heard yet great band ) ? I’ve been on a constant rotation of THE SHINS. They kind of sound like the beach boys meet some sort of whatever is cool now shit, and they rock. Grab your favorite music stealing software( Audio Galaxy is my choice), head over to amazon.com for the track list, and check this band out. Other than the Shins I’ve been prepping myself for the RODEO, will be seeing Willy Nelson (about freaking time) and B. Dylan. After 15 years of living in Houston these shows will be my first time actually entering the Astrodome, that’s wack. Notable mentions Steve Earl (local Austin Bad boy country rock) The Weakerthans ( Punk Rock country fusion Dejuer) Bad Religion ( getting back to my roots ). Pink Floyd, Relics. .:Skip
  23. HAAA! I saw that site a while back and had completely forgotten about it until now. The guy with the big goatee and the Richmond hat is actually an old acquaintance of mine who travels with a band named AVAIL. Good stuff, lots of attractive people in the trailer park. Dave you definitely have an eye (or way to much time on your hands) for these wack web sites. That boat incident was amazing. Keep em coming. .:Skip
  24. Thanks for all the advice. I have been watching the videos and I can definitely see where I’m going wrong. Definitely need to work on the legs here on the ground and bring that with me next time up. .:Skip
  25. Did AFP 3 and 4 today, both very fun and decently preformed jumps. However my legs do not want to cooperate. It’s not that they are all over the place and destroying my stable decent, just some mild chipping and backsliding. My thoughts are that I just need to make a jump and really think to myself “hey self where are your legs”, concentrate on sticking them out there. I’ve read about toe taps, and haven’t had the inkling to try them out while in free fall, I visualize really hard (on the ground) about sticking them out there, they just don’t pull through for me. Any input, personal experiences would really be great. Other than that, this jumping out of planes is just to fun. Level 4 was my first unassisted exit and no lie the video is funny, I’m kicking away and actually managed to get myself “head down” for a bit, but I pulled through found my stability, did some kick ass 360’s and geeked for the camera. By far my landmark jump. Anyhow SkydiveSpaceland rocks, Chris Miller has been a great mentor, and I just cant wait to get out for more next Friday. .:Skip
