Hey Wags great stuff; I love and use check lists for a bunch of stuff; I’m formulating my own “rig maintenance check list” and couldn’t have asked for a better example. I’m really just getting started in this whole world of parachuting and I guess one of my biggest hang up’s so far is wanting to know and trust every single thing about my gear. I am looking and do intend on finding a rigger who will sit with me and teach me a bunch of my rigging needs. So in that since yeas I guess I have thought about becoming a rigger. I find the gear absolutely fascinating. Thanks again for the .doc big help.. Waka Waka .:skip

When your main is out and you’ve decided to give your whole rig a once over what kind of things do you look for? Do you have a full rig inspection routine etc? I’ve been laying my rig out once a month or so and checking it over; just looking for some items that I might be looking over etc. .:skip

I also am very interested in hearing about balloon jumps and what to expect. Perhaps one of the very first things that I ever saw which peaked my interest in parachuting was a balloon jump on I think it was the discovery channel. Skyfest in Dallas is coming up and I’ve seriously been thinking about going up with full intentions of jumping out of a balloon. Waka waka .:skip

Anyone going, just heard about it yesterday and what do you know my girlfriends been wanting to go up to Dallas to see the rents. bling bling I’ve actually been wanting to jump from a balloon for sometime (pre-skydive) so I guess this will be my chance. Reading over the posts from last year this looks like a good time boogie. Wakka wakka .:skip

I’ve been paying allot of attention to my rig lately and trying to learn it in and out. One thing I have notices is that my reserve risers seam somewhat loose as compare to what I see around the DZ. When I say loose I mean there is a little play under them, (read: minor, I can easily slip my fingers under them) and they kind of bunch up just slightly when I close the riser cover. The container is a 2000 JAV with a PD176 and SABRE 170 in it. My rigger says that the risers on some JAV’S just don’t lay into the reserve tray completely neat and there is nothing to worry about. Looking at it I can see of no problems that could arise; just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. Also I’m not to sure about the different types of reserve risers but I’ve noticed some have a different color stitching on them and layer of different colored material sandwiched between the black. Mine are just solid black. I know the ones with the colored stitching are a bit stronger; what are the proper names for these two and can they be switched out? Thanks in advance for any thoughts. !!Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead!! One of my all time favorites. "Two minor characters from the play, "Hamlet" stumble around unaware of their scripted lives and unable to deviate from them" funny as all hell..

Hey Dave here’s something a little different, The Hungry Ocean by Linda Greenlaw. I just finished it and loved it. It’s a book about fishing, deep sea sword fishing; a pretty thrilling tale about life at sea. Think the prefect storm without the storm. In fact the lady captain portrayed in the perfect storm is none other then Linda Greenlaw herself. Quick read defiantly worth it. .:skip

HA cool I suck to. Jump 78 this past weekend. 2 way sit with dude cool enough to jump with me. Exit the plane I loose him, forget how to hold my body together because I'm all beating up on myself for blowing the exit etc. etc. Open up and for some reason (I don't know why because I have never blown it before) decide to land in the freakign parking lot, on rocks; start to beat myself up over my stupid landing choice and I bif it in instead of standing it up like I'm totally capable of. Damn I walked away from that jump just feeling very very suck. Next jump was much better. I wouldnt beat your self up at all, you really don't know your skydiving abilities just yet. CONTINUE YOUR TRAINING, I also wanted to be a skydiver so bad, and here I am a skydiver and I suck and steadly getting better, and it's so much fun (smile)... .:skip

About all I can come up with from past threads is that the older Time Out's are big and bulky. Will they fit in modern audible pockets or do they need to be mounted to the side of the helmt. thanks in advance .:skip

I am looking for an audible but do not have the mony for a pro track etc. I have seen the old style dyters for sale here and there for a price I can aford. Can anyone tell me a little about these old style dyters. Do they only have only one alarm and can you set this? Are they worth say 50 bucks or so? Will they fit into todays standard audibly pockets (although I will be atachign mine to a pro-tec for the time being)? Thanks for any opinios on the older style dyters. .:skip

Slappie that sucks, but it's understandable; I've almost doen the same a few times. Check your mail I'm intrested in some of your gear. thanks. .:skip

Man that fisrt solo after AFF or whatever training is unfogettable. Freakign ground rush, what the hell am I dooing CRAZY FOOL... but woohoo this is so fun.. Skydiving is some scarry stuff. Even at 70ish jumps I still talk myself out of going off to the DZ regularly. Hmpff the sky will always be there, take you time and things will fall into place. .:skip

Yep Yep, pretty much what everyone else has said. Another option if you are looking for cheap is in the Heights off of Heights Blvd. There are some cheap apartments; however you get what you pay for. .:skip

It's totally doable. I did it; 2-3 a month, sometimes more sometimes less. It definitely hurt my progression; had to repeat a few because I went over 30 days. However I made it, maybe not as advanced as others with the same amount of jumps but it’s all I could do. Just do what you can do. When you’re not jumping read everything you can, hang out at the DZ, LEARN TO PACK. Learn your emergency procedures well. Make mental skydives allot, its fun to daydream the jumps and you can do it where ever whenever and it helps allot. Books: The Skydivers Handbook: Dan Poynter and Mike Turoff The Skydivers Survival Guide: Kim Emerson and Marcus Antebi Mental Training for Skydiving and Life: John DeRosalia Try to make more then one jump a day. Save up some money so that you can do 2 jumps every other weekend. Multiple jumps per day definitely helps. And yeah stay current (30 days) it’s amazing how rusty you can get quickly. .:skip
