I waited a month as per the Docs original Orders. But at 2 weeks she thought I was all healed up and would be fine. The Flight Surgeon (who was also involved in the eye surgery portion of a long term study by the Army) concurred with her on the 2 weeks but weather stopped me and I ended up waiting the full month. Never had an issue. Follow the Docs advice (orders) and you will be fine. One skydive is not worth losing your sight over. (Yes, I know the Irony of that statement!) I know T-I's and Videoagrapher's making 105 to 140 an hour. Our "industry" (in the US) is running on the razors edge. Any price increase in skydiving could kill it off real fast, starting with the smaller operations and then the larger as staff migrate but customers don't. Some guy wrote and article about drop flags in one of last years Parachutists, in the opening paragraphs he covered the three typical flag set ups. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -

When jumping a Flag suspended under the canopy, on a separate line/pulley system, the Ground Crews catch the flags as the Flag and jumper stop at the same time. When jumping a "Drop" flag, suspended under the jumper on a weighted lanyard, the crew pick the flag up ASAP as the flag and jumper usually still have some movement after the flag touched the ground and you don't want to "close line" the jumper or bang the crew with the weight. There in lies the problem. It still needs to be worked out. I don't have the answers, but do know UPT says their rules for their Gear are the ones to follow, and they have pulled ratings. The Deal between all parties IS USPA and the Manufacturers can pull ratings and one will tell the other when they do. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Several Years ago USPA had no T-I rating, now they do. Recently they required ALL USPA Members to have a T-I rating to do Tandem Jumps, just like they required all GM DZ's to have USPA Rated Instructors and all Members to be rated to Instruct. So now that USPA is handling Tandem Instructor Ratings a T-I need only renew with USPA (you will send off and get an initial rating from the Manufacturer and USPA). Eventually I/E's will only need to renew with USPA, but only when the Manufacturer's are convinced USPA will ENFORCE the BSR's. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. What is she getting classed in for AIT? Every one has given you some great suggestions and I think you have a god plan. The RV does allow you to skip the hotel over booking thing. Are you towing a car to drive on post? If so get in the day before and get your pass the day before as well so you don't have that slow up on Graduation Day. I think You will like Chester (well any of the DZ's mentioned). If you go to her Graduation from ABN School make sure you ride out to SDA and make a jump there, you'll see a handful of her Instructors there too. I believe it is "D" License (which we know is 500 or more jumps now) and no more than a one to one ratio (one "D" to one Student). But your point is valid. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
