  1. Settle was hero on that day. The huge 11C from the 81mm platoon. I saw him carry the entire tube set up on an air assault once in Florida (back when we still got to work with 7th GRP). An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  2. Dave-a big dude who became a Border Patrolmen( '92 ish ?) if so same guy Kenny (the other Anderson went to SF) but he was skinny and boozed up a lot had the IROC Z-28 Tony: Mikey Lavoie was the SF guy (who was Major and got riffed after Vietnem in the draw down). He eventually became the 1SG but reitred as a Major. His dad is a well known CSM (RET) who has a street at Benning named after him. Sloan came to Aco a SFC from SFO Det (D) but did have the super slow drawl. "Patches" was the nickname for the PL who got fired. The big dude was the PL in Panama who was our XO in Saudi. Our Company went to Hondo, Panama and Saudi with about 80% the same personnel from '87 to '91. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  3. I heard tale that the Ninja got busted in SETAF as the CDR when he was having a fling with the aides wife! He was a unique fellow, lived out the "Ninja Nix" mystic at BGD HQ from time to time. It was real fun watching him crush our platoon leader for lying to him. We all felt like we lyed when he got done with it. The PL was young and on his first assignment and trip all in one month, he didn't know the Co SOP or BN SOP (about equipment tie downs) and mispoke we did the whole dployment minus that first month with SFC Sloan as the PL. 4. I was on every trip that first brigade made from 87 to 91. I was in 1st Platoon with Sloan (PSG), Howard, Anderson, Strange etc. Second had Mikey as the PSG Third had Gordon as the PSG and we had a shit load of characters in that company. The leader of those with such character was 1SG Sparks one big hairy tough SOB! he owns a hog farm north of Bragg. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  5. Blackheart of the White Devils from the Devils in Baggy Pants BGD 1987 to 1991. On status for 17~ of my 21 years. And I was always under the impression there is no EX, you IS or you AINT. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  6. WERA Classes B, C, and D Superbike and Supersport from 1987 to 1991 # 505 in the Eastern Region. That was when I was stationed in Fort Bragg NC. I hung up the leathers in late 91 when I got sent to Alaska. I still ride from time to time on the street for the pleasure, although right now I am just bike sitting a 600RR for a friend in Iraq. 7. I think it is Altico, but I could be wrong, I got them attached to a Demo Tandem Canopy and boy they are nice! Red at Flight Concepts would know, that is where the Demo Canopy came from (by the way the Rage Tandem in its current line trim is awesome too!). Both sets of my velcro equipted toggles started to fray (edges of the hook base and it is a bit unsightly). An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. Those are out (from another company) and they are awesome! The carry handle is great as mentioned a few posts up too! I thought the all clear window was a Micro Sigma thing and the two smaller windows was a regular Sigma thing, at least that is how I have seen the break down at the DZ I was jumping at a lot this summer and they have 12 Sigma's on the rack ready to go. 9. Me too, but don't tell her I still need a few bucks for Christmas An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  10. I guess blaming the President of the current Admin makes sense for a LONG standing DOD policy. It sounds like a computer program form letter that was not screened very well. But if a person did re-up for a period of years and didn't finish it would make sense on one hand that the remaining years bonus not be paid. They should how ever be given full benefits for care with out a bit of delay. If the program saw a discharge and a time remaining it would send the letter out automatically. Some one needs to look a those better, at the human level, at "OUR" level in the system and screen them better. "OUR" is the men and women of the VA and DOD who are taking the heat for the failure of the current and previous Admins/Congress in giving the proper tools to do the job. Before I posted I went back and looked at my 21 years worth of contracts, each has a clause about failing to fulfill not getting the remaining bonus. To me that makes sense. In death the bonus stops and the family gets the survivor benefits (a whole other patheticly low ball of wax). I feel for the kid and he should get his 3k back and some one should say they are sorry, but I understand the over sight as bad as it sucks. An Instructors first concern is student safety. 11. Those are the only style of glove I have really used (although sometimes from other makers). When it is really cold I will put a thin liner in the winter gloves and close the wrists around the sleeve of my jump suit to keep the air out. But there is really no glove that will allow the tactile feel we need and not keep us completely with out feeling a little chill. But my experience has been good with the winter weight and liners. Your mileage may vary as they say. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. I agree with you 100% on all points. You earn it with Kip. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  13. AR 360-1 may be are reference that can aide in the argument. It details the requirements for the Golden Knights and how MACOM Commanders can field smaller Demo Teams (Screaming Eagles, All Americans, Silver Wings, Black Daggers). I worked under this reg for 9 years as a Demo Jumper, it even applies to those who are not on a Team but doing Demo's "as a representative of the Army". His commander may be using that phrase. 14. I find that hard to believe I called Tullahoma and the "Skydive Center" answered, when she found out who I was and what my question was in regards too (military Training DZ) she admitted she was in Atlanta, and stated that ASC/Skyride had PURCHASED the DZ in TN and would re-open soon. I called Mike Mullins about it and asked him since I had been told he was partnered with Beezy, Mike was PISSED as well as Beezy. Maybe you didn't forward the number, maybe you had a FAKE web page copied and we mistakenly used that carbon copy page ? With a direct number to you? I was then referred to a DZ in KY to train at that was a Skyride Affiliate. We chose not to go there as there is a little on going Military Consumer Affairs investigation going on about Skyride and all it s fake-ness. If you do not service areas you don't have affiliates what is this? http://www.1800skyride.com/Skydiving/Clarksville/ Totally fake and misleading and currently posted as of 10:28 am 17 NOV 2007. Go ahead and call me a liar again, but the web page is yours. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. Clarksville Skydiving Association does not take the Certs! But did have a pissed off lady show up at the DZ on a weekend they happened to be closed! (nice work rberger! way to make a diff and clean up the sham!) It is also the only real lagit DZ in Clarksville,TN not to be confused with the fake ones I forwarded to State Senator Korita so she could have the SAG look into it. 17. It is not so bad. As a part time test jumper in the second phase of a parachutes developement it is lively and fun! But it may explain a few ofthe gray hairs! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  19. Skydive Paris (According to the Owner) never has and is not currently. But they (Skyride) are still trying to get Paris, even though the Skyride Company is on a "Do not use" watch list from Ft. Campbell and that is the bigger part of Paris' clientel . An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. I dunno the Vector II had that set up and that design is 15 years-ish old, yeah? How old does an idea have to be to be "conventional"? An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  21. Go with Sigma and take the course from some one who will ensure you earn it and will help to teach you what you will need to KNOW. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  22. play it again sports in Clarksville has them but I dunno know about other locations. There are plenty of online sights and I got way to many hits to post here. I just typed in the glove models and Viola! An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. http://www.adamsusa.com/ Is the direct web page. I havebeen "sponsored" (?) Supported maybe a better word for it, by Adams for 9 years now and haven't found I glove I like better. The winter weights in the right size and a set 1 size larger (so 2 sets) will allow you to jump in cold a then in frigid conditions if you need. I too wear gloves on every jump no matter how hot, it is a habit I was taught from jump 1. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  24. Those look like SW Motor Sports Mech Gloves! I tested those for the Army (Machine Gunners and Weapons Maint use) 8 or nine years ago. Not a bad glove at all. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. Actually your still on student status till your licensed (USPA GM DZ that is). YOU are who makes the better skydiver. No matter the method we all end up at the same License (again USPA stuff) with the same requirements to get it. Do what your comfortable in and can afford. Just keep jumping!
