I don't know.... I don't work for just the money (which would be work to live) but I don't live just do my job - there's more to "me" than JUST my brain... but helping people is what I LIKE to do.... my job just enables me to help people and get money. And my play that I'm working toward is kinda work too.... (but how cool would it be to go to a medical mission that you have to air drop into?!!)

This is getting off the original topic of this thread.... but I really wanted to respond to this. Midwest America is MUCH different than the East Coast big cities. I grew up in Madison, WI... small town mentality in the farming communities. VERY POLITE and NICE. Don't talk back to neighbors, smile and nod, be courteous. I don't know where you've been in America or why you have such a view of our culture... but there are many areas where, even with the "evil" 2nd amendment, it's a GREAT place to live. (and personally... I own a few guns and consider myself rather polite in most situations. ... except I can be snotty at times)

And looking at the Who you help link.... it seems that the money would be well spent for your society as well.... Want to pay for to prevent problems with charity or pay more for the future problems with your taxes. You can still be greedy and support necessary programs. You just have to look at it correctly.

If I could send you some energy, I would!!!! But... since I'm either primary call or back up for six days consecutive this week... AND since you get to sleep for the next five days... how about I send you some next week?

I will be very Thankful if I get to deliver happy and healthy babies to their very thankful mommies and daddies! What more could you ask for? The hours and being on call might be limiting.... but worth the sacrifice.

I see your point to some degree. I disagree with changing standards to be more PC and more "socially diverse." Either you can do the job, or you cant. If you can't, you can't. Don't whine about discrimination. BUT.... I'm not going to assume that she can't do the job just because you're souring the grapes and being bitter. You say she's 80#.... If you had said 80kg I might have believed you...but 80#, I have to believe that you're trying to misrepresent the situation. AND.... what about the women that can't have kids?! What jobs do they get?

I know you're responding to JohnRich... but since noone is going to address my post, I thought I would restate some of my comments. As I said before - I think the video should be looked at more as the community doing just what you mentioned above. Changing the cultural beliefs. Standing up to the gangbangers and letting them know that certain actions (not JUST holding the gun) won't be accepted in their neighborhood. When you choose, as a society, what will and won't be tolerated, then the People have to be willing to back it up. But.. that can then get you into situations of vigilantism and big brother.... sticky situation. Scoop is a Police officer and as such is very aware of the practical realities of life and crime in the UK. My thanks to him for doing a thankless and dangerous job to keep the rest of us safe. Agreed .... to a point. And I have respect for Scoop, AggieDave and the other law enforcement officers that I have known. But.... it's not their job to "keep the rest of us safe." They enforce the laws.... which means that the laws have to be broken for them to do anything. If someone is carrying and it's illegal, then they can do something... but if someone is THINKING of doing something... that's where that persons conscious, societal values and understanding of repurcussions comes in. btw, no one answered my question on celebrities and body guards. Do their body guards get to carry and why have a division by class?

Who is John Galt?

I do not believe in relocation camps. Americans are Free. We were wrong with isolating the Americans of Japanese descent in WWII and it would be wrong to do it now. If there are "enemies among us," then it's one of two categories. -Either people who want to change policy and make this country a better place.... and I would allow them to make the statement. -Or those intent on destroying our beliefs... by forcing us to betray our freedoms as one of the first steps. I would rather live in a free society with that risk.

I'm thankful. Life has been a wonderful tale. I've enjoyed many adventures.... I've touched many lives.... I've know many noble souls.... I've lived. I'm thankful.

Interesting video. But... to take the topic off the guns for a minute (it's ok, I'll get back to them). I got more out of that video about a community standing up against the gang mentality. I would tend to focus on that and not the fact that the one kid had a gun. It's much more productive to empower the neighborhood to clean up itself than to expect inanimate objects to "stop." OK... now back to guns. I do have a question.... What about celebrities? Are they allowed to have armed guards for their "safety"? If yes, why are they more special than the general public? Who will keep me safe if I come over there and am not so good at boxing or running? I know (at least over here), it's not the job of the police to protect me... their job is to enforce the law once it had been broken. That doesn't prevent the violence... just creates penalty and "justice." I'm not saying you need guns over there... I understand its a different culture... What I am asking though is are there different rules for the different classes?

Agreed. This one was nice... but Sean is still the best (IMHO)

by the way.... I was quite amused with your thread over there. But I got confused... whom do you want to suck your right and whom on your left? (and how would you log that?)

I was going to research and reply back that some of the links said "True Bugs" and all that... but looking at all those picture.... Um.... I'll let you be the expert on that and I will step down (but still think that most bugs - including spiders - are kinda yucky)
-
They may not be "insects" but they could be bugs... unless you mean that wascally wabbit.

Not getting it all done. (oh... and I kinda don't like rats or sharks)

That was Adorably boyish, cute, delightfully eclectic, fun, genuinely heartwarming, informally jolly, Karen likes melodic notes, oscillating pitches, qaint ramblings sung tantalizingly unique. Very welcome Xmas / Yule zaniness!!! That's how to describe it.

I'm just not a diamond type girl. It's a bit too flashy for me. My engagement/wedding ring is a star sapphire with two small diamonds for accent. My other ring is a claddagh from a friend. But I work with my hands a bit, so I usually have both on a leather chain around my neck with my connemara stone. Typically don't wear any other jewelry, but I do like my Mikimoto pearls and Jade from Guatemala. THIS would be worth the two months pay! I would LOVE to travel there and see the people and culture for myself! If I'm ever in that area, I will look you up!!

I don't know. Maybe trying to post as a guest or view something in the recycle bin. One of the Greenies would know
