  1. ... like a psycho broad. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2013/05/03/bc-cyber-stalking.html
  2. From the original video link - comments: The cargo flight N8-102 crew were heard on VHF air-band frequency reporting that some of the load of five heavy military vehicles weighing more than 70 tons in the cargo hold had shifted and the National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 stalled. National Air Cargo Boeing 747-400 crashed and erupted into flames on impact. The crash site was near the end of the 11,849 ft long runway 03 within the perimeter of the Bagram airfield. All seven crew – Jamie Brokaw, pilot, Monroe, MI, Brad Hasler, pilot, Trenton, MI, Jeremy Lipka, pilot, Brooklyn, MI, Rinku Summan, pilot, Canton, MI, Michael Sheets, loadmaster, Ypsilanti, MI, Gary Stockdale, mechanic, Romulus, MI, Timothy Garrett, mechanic, Louisville, KY were killed on impact. If that is correct, the friend is listed as well. :(
  3. One of the pilots was a cousin of a jumper I hang with. And he's trying to track down a friend who got his cuz the job. Concerned that he possibly was the other pilot.
  4. The Canucks will be on the golf course faster than Tiger on a blonde. :(
  5. A statement I heard today: "If Islam is supposed to be so peaceful, why don't all the Muslim leaders 'here in our country' speak up and condemn these ragheads?!" Admit it, we've ALL heard variations of that same sentiment repeatedly since 2001. Hell, there are friends of mine that continue to send me the most vile garbage privately condemning pretty much whatever visible minority is pissing them off that day. Why is it that we demand Muslim organizations apologize yet we give a pass when violent atrocities are committed by Christians, Jews, Buddhists, or even atheists? Believe me. No one religious, political, or ethnic group has a monopoly on violence and/or terrorism. Not even the WASP's. White Anglo-Saxon Protestants. I am one. A WASP, that is. John [/soapbox]
  6. Here's video of said incident: 13 seconds into the time code. Formulate your own opinions, hockey fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mLnisfcvAeA (Edited to attach still image of the hit)
  7. God love ya, lad. But sadly, thoughtful introspection seems as lacking as dispassionate discourse on this, and similar subjects.
  8. Here's a differing point of view. Full disclosure: this newspaper (Toronto Sun) stands as our print version of your Fox News. http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/tarek-fatah/jihadi-terrorism-boston_b_3138046.html
  9. Waiting for somebody to weigh-in with: "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear", or my personal favourite, "As long as they keep us safe".
  10. I have many friends who complain in my country that our government is taking away our rights; we are being turned into second-class citizens; we are overtaxed, our healthcare system is broken; too many foreigners being allowed in that can’t speak English or French; they’re tired of dealing with Native land claims; welfare bums are screwing all us working-stiffs over. The list is nauseatingly endless. When I suggest that if they feel that strongly they should take the time to become current with our many National issues and become engaged in the process. Write to their representatives in parliament, legislative assembly, or city. Become active with letters to news outlets. At the very least, participate with their ballot in every election at every level. The common response is something to the effect that “They’re too big. They don’t listen. My vote doesn’t count.” I encountered this attitude in private conversations with some of my southern friends during your last US presidential race. I’ve encountered it in conversations regarding the legislated denial of Constitutional rights in attempting to challenge US Customs allegations in a federal court of law. What I’m (rhetorically) asking then is, with so many here claiming a desire to defend your Constitution, are you engaged in the process? John
  11. Hockey Night in Canada on CBC tonight. Love him or hate him, here's how he appeared on Coaches Corner. (Not bad, Grapes. Not bad at all)
  12. Thank you Kevin. I don't have the energy to fight this any further today... :( John
  13. With a couple of threads running, had to guess where to post this. A brief interesting read... http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2013/04/19/jonathan-kay-how-chechnyas-culture-of-terror-came-to-the-streets-of-boston/
  14. March 23, 1994. About three seconds prior to impact when I went in with a badly messed up reserve. It really didn't hurt very much at all. Then I finally regained conscience. That hurt a bit. Then the shock wore off. That hurt a bit more. Then the pain killers wore off. Oooooh, that pain sucked. Then the 6 months off with spinal problems. Yeah, pretty uncomfortable for awhile. First jump back. Painless. But damned scary. John

    Music....

    Are you a transplanted Canuck????
  16. With complete respect, your countries national reaction to 9/11 brought you The Patriot Act and it's bastard-child the NDAA. Oh, and couple of new overseas adventures. And WW2? If my history lessons were accurate, the USA was pretty late getting to the Dance. John
  17. These sure aren't GoPro's. And they're Canadian, eh? [/brag] http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/04/04/urthecast-cameras-international-space-station_n_3017924.html
  18. Hopefully, you'll receive more response than the similar thread I started yesterday. Apparently they have more important things to consider... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4466564
  19. "A cache of 2.5 million files has cracked open the secrets of more than 120,000 offshore companies and trusts, exposing hidden dealings of politicians, con men and the mega-rich the world over." source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/03/offshore-companies-politicians_n_3008426.html
  20. I'm not sure if this is visible outside of Canada, but I'm sure if you search the Washington Post there will much to be found there. http://www.cbc.ca/news/interactives/icij-map/ The above is interactive and searchable. There was a thread here back earlier in the year citing this: http://www.webcitation.org/6DxFTq07u I wonder if this is a result of the threat they were implying? John
  21. But was the service call-centre at least in North America?
  22. You've gotta be loving this! Good luck Iggy! Cool to see an athlete that is universally admired. Count me in too. He deserves a Cup ring to go with his Olympic gold.
