Bush authorized domestic wiretaps without warrants
GTAVercetti replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Oops, you're right. We SHOULD take the quote out of context. I noticed that you didn't dispute that the discussion where you got this quote was a discussion specifically about the Patriot Act. But hey, if it makes your argument look good... why care about it, right? As for the "why bother" comment... I guess reality isn't important to you, so, indeed, why bother? No, this is exactly why I should not bother; excuses. If he meant the Patriot Act, he should have said "if we are wiretapping under the Patriot Act, it will involve a warrant." He did not. he said ANY TIME. And then he repeated and included, " chasing down terrorists". If that does not include all instances of wiretapping, I really don't know what does. Especially when the point of the Patriot Act is to fight terrosim. Stop trying to redefined words. I really have no problem with actions done in secret, but I cannot stand when instead of just not answering, people lie about them. And not in a roundabout way either, but boldly. And even worse is when people try to explain it away. Argh, see what I did, I got in a pointless debate. Excuse me, I have to hit myself with a wet noodle. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. I hate it when guys are too callous to pass on the opportunity to take advantage of that. I promise to go gently. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Has "tipping" gone to far or am I just cheap?
GTAVercetti replied to GogglesnTeeth's topic in The Bonfire
I have been ROYALLY fucked when I decided to not put the auto tip for a party of 20. When you have a party that size, it ends up being your focus. So when you bust your ass for 2 hours and get a 8-10 dollar tip on a 200+ bill (and they were a happy group that seemed to like me as a server), it makes you think twice about not using the auto tip for large parties. Another reason they started doing that because inevitably a large group spends more than they thought and then they are all scraping together to get enough money to pay the bill itself, let alone the tip. Until they get rid of the low wage shit, I think the auto tip fpr large parties is usually the better bet. Thank GOD I am not a server anymore though. What a shit job. All candy is crack. I want to know if he at least got the good stuff. I got me some Lick-m-ade Fun-Dip, some pixie sticks, an assortment of sour patch kids, butterfingers, m&m's, some candy bracelets, gum cigarettes, and some other stuff I cannot recall. oh yeah, and a candy whore. So calling them queers (and I don't care if they call themselves that -- when they do, it is usually not in the obvious tone you meant it) and then saying the guy with the hatchet might have a point, is okay because you were wronged by a gay person in the past? Yeah, that makes perfect sense. This is not one person whom you are venting frustration about. It is an entire group. And besides, were it one person I STILL wouldn't phrase it how you did. If that person had wronged me and then someone took a hatchet to them, I am FAIRLY certain that I would not say, "well, their killer probably had a point." Particularly if it was simply a difference of philosophy and name calling instead of something that ACTUALLY has a harmful effect on my life (ie. hurting a family member or me). Brussel sprouts are good for you. And if they're cooked correctly, buttered, salted and peppered, they taste delicious. Shame on you. rl You are not going to change my ways. Shame on you for thinking you can shame me into eating them. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

ooo, and I also hate misspellings in the subject line. Within the text can be okay, but there is just no excuse for messing up the line that everyone is going to see right away. Well, I guess it is more a pet peeve than a hate. Hate would probably be a strong word there. I mean, do I REALLY hate it? I guess not. So yeah, let's go with pet peeve instead. Ignore me doing this. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

On one hand, I use open source mostly. I can find tons of people who use what I use and can help me with my problems. For instance, when I found a bug in mySQL Control Center, it was fixed in the next release after I posted it. On the other hand there is this...arrogance...that sometimes comes along with Opensource, particularly with less savvy users. take the Firefox forum for instance. Someone posts a question on there about a problem they are having...say a bug or something not acting correctly. The responses are: "Maybe you should pitch in and try to fix it." "I don't see the problem. It must be you. Try starting in safe mode and disabling everything. Then press Cntrl-T and spin around three times" (I may have added some extra stuff, but they give this laundry list of shit you are supposed to do before they will even help "You suck. Firefox rules!" and so on. open source wants to tout how great it is, but often times it does nothing to make the newbie feel welcome. If the community wants to expand and actually make a dent in MS, they better start getting a little more user friendly. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Bush authorized domestic wiretaps without warrants
GTAVercetti replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I am afraid your definition of lying is incorrect. Law has nothing to do with the concept of lying. Stop trying to relate the two. If I say to you, "I own a blue car" and you find out my car is silver, I lied. And no law has been broken. What I think you need to say is that you are okay with lying in the interest of National Security instead of trying to say that he did not lie. Because he did. Boldy. He did not even attempt to skirt the issue. Sometimes lying is okay...at least to me. But I say that, not try to make up ways that the lie is not really a lie. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. -

GTAVercetti replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't care if it is legal or not. You said he did not lie and he did. That is my ONLY point. Whether you lie for National Security or not, you are STILL lying. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
