I did a down winder in these conditions before. It was the stupidist thing I have ever done in my life. I swooped the whole landing area and plf'd it. Walking back to the hanger all of the whuffos thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen. All the instructors and experienced jumpers knew what I did was stupid but they were happy I was ok. Looking back on it it was fun but I wouldn't ever do it again!

You never got the bowling talk? Actually you all Emmie is living proof that if you keep going you will get better. You might have a few occurences during your first 20 jumps, but if you hang in there you will get better! Good job Emmie! Blue Skies, Nathan

This reminds me of something I heard before and I used it on a whuffo at the dropzone. They asked what would happen if you hit a cloud and I told them that you can't hit clouds because it would be like hitting concrete and you would either stay up there or bounce off and fall again either way you couldn't survive the impact. They believed me and got really nervous when the person there doing the tandem was on jump run because it was cloudy!

I learned that valuable lesson early. I broke three vertebrea in my lower back and bruised the hell out of my tailbone. Now when I know I can not run it out I slide in on my knees. I cringe at the thought of landing on my butt again. Blue Skies, Nathan

I like to go as far out on the wing as you can and let my feet hang into the wind. Then swing your legs and either release into backflips or swing your legs and put them above the wing . Then release with your hands and you will be hanging from the wing with your feet. Then gently release your feet and you will leave the plane head down. Blue Skies, Nathan

Justin, If you don not mind me aking will you post Webers canopy progression with the approx. number of jumps he had on each. What was his total number of jumps? I think some people could learn from this information. Thanks for the post.

All joking aside, I would track as far away from the dz as possible. An open field before a lake because at that speed it really would not make a difference and it would be easier to locate in a field...although that would not be easy. What position would I be in...probably belly to earth reciting the Lords Prayer. I have never really been a spiritual man, however, I do say a little prayer each and every jump for protection! Nathan

On my graduation jump I stalled my canopy and broke a few bones. I knew I would be away from the sport for a long time, if I ever went back. I find dropzone.com and begin reading about this girl who had a cutaway on her third jump. It talks about her other jumps afterwards and how confident yet nervous she is. I send her an e-mail explaining my accident and how I want to go back to skydiving but I am hesitant because I was injured so early in my training. I wish I still had the private message she sent me. It was so inspiring and motivating that after reading it I knew, as she said, I had to make at least one more jump again to overcome my fears and let that be the deciding factor. After two months out I went back to the sport. In the last 6 months I have over 100 skydives. I am living the life the way I want and am the happiest I have ever been. Michele, thank you for your motivation and the inspiration to continue on with the sport we all love so much. Nathan
