Looking for Images/Video of Tony Suit Raptors
chrisgray replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Monkey, you kinda look like Avery's twin with that pink suit on. You don't look bad in pink at all. WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray -
Yes, indeed this is a very important skill to teach. The most important things for a student to demonstrate on a FFC jump is 1: Clean Exit 2: Proper Navigation and Flight Pattern 3: Clean Deployment If these are not demonstrated then the student SHOULD NOT be cleared to do self supervised WS jumps. Looking for Images/Video of Tony Suit Raptors

I am assuming the red Raptor you posted the pic of is yours. It is a nice looking suit. I have a student who just received his new Raptor. I will see if we can get some video or stills of his posted soon. Welcome to the flock and long flights! I was not aware of this problem that affects the HC7 and HC9. It appears from other threads that vibrations from heavy wind buffeting and burble can cause problems with the Optical Image Stabilization. Can this feature not be turned off? I will check the online owners manual once I have time. WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray

Sorry...I didn't look at your location first. Assumed that you were in the US. Yes, there are lots of PAL monitors everywhere other than in the US. We just got to be different. You have tickled my curiosity. What is the issue with freeflying with the HC9. FYI: The HDR-HC5 is no longer current from Sony. It is not in the 2008 product mix nor is it orderable from sonystyle. Although, that model will be purchasable from dealers that still have them in stock while supplies last. Agreed. LANC is only found on HDV format models which for 2008 include the two models I mentioned. All those models you mentioned with LANC port are older models. If HDV/DV format dies then we will likely not see LANC anymore, as you mentioned. Although, I do suspect that the Pro-sumer and Professional models will continue to have them since videographers still ask for it. Another downside I saw with the 2008 lineup is that the HDV models only record in 1080i x 1440 where as most the other formats are capable of 1080i x 1920 (Full HD). I just saw the HDR-HC9 at a Sony dealer show and really liked it. Should be a great choice since it does have a LANC port. The only other HD camera that Sony builds with a LANC port is the HDR-FX1 which is a mid-sized pro-sumer grade camera at $3600. As for dealers you must be very careful who you trust. Sony is getting really strict with authorized sales so the only sure fire way to tell is call 1-877-865-SONY (7669). I would buy from B&H Photo. They have great service, good prices, and they are an authorized dealer. Good luck. Warning: If it only supports PAL video output and you don't have a PAL TV or monitor you will be screwed. I would avoid the PAL model since it is very hard to find a TV or monitor to display PAL. If LANC port is important (which it is to me) these are my recomendations. SD Cameras: PC350 (older model) PC1000 (older model) HD Camera: HDR-HC9 (current model) Unfortunately Sony is not putting LANC port on many models at all now. :( WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray

B&H has excellent service and reasonable prices. They will not be the lowest price but you won't have to worry about getting screwed. Click link below... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=search&A=search&Q=&sb=bs%2Cupper%28ds%29&sq=asc&ac=&bsi=&bhs=t&ci=1097&shs=&at=Type_Memory+Sticks&basicSubmit=Submit+Query Another note on the CX7 camera is that it lakes a LANC port so it will not support any kind of cameye or remote switch. Thx for the PSA, Mike. Very helpful information. I am glad to hear the wingsuit/beer drinking race is back. I placed second behind James last time. I will be training hard to ensure that I am not defeated again. I will be registering tonight. Thx again Mike. Very nice suit. I saw it while at the PR Boogie. The fabric is interesting. Almost like polycotton with a ripstop cross thread in it. Jeff, what is the fabric? All the graphics are sublimated, yes?? The Optimum will make that PD126 feel like a bag of poo. It handles much more like a main than a reserve. Try one out!! WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray

The orange Tony suit I am wearing in the pic is a pre-SM1 prototype not a SM1. But it is close enough for comparison I suppose. WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray

All the yawns and jokes aside. Although it is a bit boring to read...the theory is sound and I agree that powered flight and non-powered flight are much different. Comparing wingsuit flight to powered flight doesn't work. Although comparing wingsuit flight to any rigid aircraft may be just as useless. We are venturing into unknown territory. We must proceed with R&D that is related to wingsuit dynamics. R&D that hasn't been done in the aircraft design world. The S-Fly Expert and even the Pro-Fly are not very difficult to shut down and reach the hackie. My SM1 is a great deal more suit to shut down and I find no issue with deployment on it either. Back when I was new to wingsuiting I found that if I rushed my deployment I would often miss the hackie. Try slowing your sequence down and insure that you have a good grip on it before you toss. Give it a try. WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray

WS Altitude change after high speed pass
chrisgray replied to mnskydiver688's topic in Wing Suit Flying
250+ feet of gain is not uncommon at an exit speed of 130 knots. It is quite the rush to do a high speed exit the first time. WSI-6 / PFI-55 The Brothers Gray Wingsuit Academy http://www.myspace.com/cgwingsuitpilot http://www.myspace.com/thebrothersgray
