Those responses are great, but guys, it didn't used to be like this. Skydiving used to be a family that could be trusted. What the hell happened? Getting old I guess! :( Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Ok, gotta let you all know and vent a little. I recently purchased a rig from Dwayne Padgett and has been quite possibly the most aggrevating, fubar purchase that I have ever made out of the countless purchases over the many years in the sport. Starts out with this douche refusing to send out the rig for inspection prior to receiving money, which, I can relate to, the world has definitely changed and you really can't trust anyone. So, he informs me that he has a friend close by that he can send the rig to, I can look at it, and pass the money onto the friend. So he ships it out. Now this is where the fun begins. This FRIEND is leaving out of town the day before shipment. I inform the guy that I have several contacts that he can call and verify that I'm not a crook and I convince him to pick up the package from this persons house and will wire the money upon receipt. He agrees. His friend tells me that UPS runs around 2 so I go there and wait till 5:30 when the package actually gets there. Upon inspecting the rig, I find that the Cypres that he advertised as a DOM of 6/03, which would still have 3 years left, actually has a DOM of 6/93. Which means that it should have been thrown in the trash about 6 YEARS AGO! Now I'm a little urked at this time and confront the guy about it and he informs me that "out of the goodness of his heart, he can send me a gear bag and an altimeter", Being completely frustrated with the whole process, I agree run to the bank and wire the money to the numbers that HE gave the bank, which were the WRONG NUMBERS!!! So, instead of this guy getting his money in about 15 minutes, it takes two more days. That was two weeks ago and the douche still has not sent bag and altimeter. I sent out an email letting him know that I would appreciate a tracking number or I will move to the next step, which is post on here what he did to me. He writes back with a "I don't take threats very well" and I will get it when I get it. So, here we are, letting all of you know to NOT purchase anything from Dwayne Padgett from South carolina. If you do, be sure to inspect the gear prior to sending money. I have since told him to keep the bag and altimeter, I really don't want to wait at a strangers house for 3 more hours waiting on a delivery. I'm sure this dude will get on here and rebuke letting you all know how much of an ass I was, so I'm anxiously awaiting his response! :) Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Holy Crap Adam, if I were to know it was that easy, I wouldn't have asked on here! LOL Thanks. Going with "let it turn off itself" method. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Just purchased a used system which has triple risers. Now being "Old School", I'm still flaring with the toggles instead of rear's and I have never dealt with triple's before. Can someone explain the pro's and con's to these things. Thanks Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Just purchased a Viso II, was having a undesirably difficult time TURNING THE DAMN THING OFF! I realize that this turns off by itself after 14 hours, how many of you viso II users actually just let it turn off itself or do you recommend turning it off? Any help would be appreciated! **And for you smartarses out there, YES, I've read the manual. LOL Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Well, I have just purchased yet another rig. I have been experiencing several life changing events recently which all seem to bring me back to the sport. Just want to say Hi to everyone that I haven't talked to for quite some time and tell everyone that if they THINK they can get out of the sport, it is always in your blood, good luck. After a long boring year away, I can't wait to get back to what I have enjoyed for the last 15 years. Now if the freakin' UPS guy would hurry up and deliver my new rig and wingsuit, I could relax a little. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

QuoteI just saw you last weekend and I got left off the list? Bitch. Quote Sorry dude, just came to me day after I saw you. And as I mentioned, I already talked to 4 or 5. Had it in my puny little brain that I already talked to you about it. Sorry!!!! As for the wife, well, lets just say that I wake up every morning and look at her with the thought: "Why the freakin' bloody hell is she with me" By the way, that is not open to comment you bastards!!!! ASC (Cedartown) used to charge $9.00 to 4,000ft. But you wound up going to 5,000 and sometimes 7,000 ft. I know that it has gone up since a couple of years ago, but I think that they are pretty consistant to 5,000 as well. LOL! no, I don't believe he is allowed. Howard's been there several times this year and Danny is a regular along with Alan and Trixie. Looking forward to seeing you bugman. J Yeah, I figured someone would get a charge out of that one. I have been out of the loop for about a year now with the "Baby Boy" and all. Yep, for those of you that are not aware, I now have a 3 month old son. Gage Zander is the little fella's name and I'm sorry to say that the boy was cursed with lookin' like his ole man. I'm sure there will be plenty of trucks and golf carts for him to plow into when he gets older as well. Anyway, have some other names to add to the list: Mark Brasher Eddie Mays Larry Hardin Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

For this years Halloween Boogie at WTS, I am trying to assemble the ole timers from the early to mid 90's skydivers that attended the "forever missed" $99 boogies at Mullin's place. If anyone knows the where-abouts and phone numbers of people that used to frequent those boogies, please let me know or let them know what is going on. There are a lot of new faces in the sport and it seems that the "Old School" are fading away. I have gotten in touch with 4 or 5 of them and they are all for getting together. Here are some of the numbers that I am seeking: 1. Allen and Trixie Stephenson 2. Chile 3. Click 4. Howard Stetson 5. David Cazer 6. Jim Cazer 7. Danny Hall 8. Fred Leslie 9. Rico- not sure if he is allowed there.

It was Sean Tillery and he said in a very calm voice: "Dude, just chop that F*&$ing thing"! Kudo's to him for not freakin' out. I think he has about 500 jumps or so and he handled it very well, thanks Sean!!! Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Well, after many many years of putting off getting my Tandem rating, I finally decided to get it. Things were going exceptionally smooth when it came to THE LAST JUMP for certification. You guys know the one, take your final "up jumper" on a tandem so you can start getting paid for them. Everything went very smooth, exit was right on the money like all the others, freefall was uneventful and drogue release was flawless. Yep, everything was running great TILL THIS TIME! We got absolutely whacked. Looked up and saw a picture perfect line over!!! After a couple attempts to clear the line, it was go time. Cutaway, and there was a beautiful reserve over our heads. It was awesome!!! Just thought I would boast a little. Thanks for reading! Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Mom: "Say Shit" Me: "No" Mom: "SAY SHIT" Me: "No Way" Mom: Say It" Me: "Shit" ***SLAP*** Mom: "Don't ever swear in front of your mother"! Never really recovered from that trivial little moment in my life. Scared me for a long time. Now I make it a point to cuss at her cause she is 900 miles away. WOOOOOW, that is awesome news. A freakin' huge "CONGRATS" to the mom and dad. Way to go buddy!!!! Granted, I'm a little hurt that I didn't receive a phone call or anything, might becuase my # has changed about 20 times in the past 10 years. Anyway, if I can be of any help, you know, seeing as though God has graced me with two(2) yes, two daughters. (*Perfect proof that God DOES have a sense of humor) just give me a shout. My father has always told me and everyone else, he would much rather raise 10 boys as to 1 girl. I am learning that there is truth to that. :) Congrats dude, hope to see some pics very soon. I am using the 2gb card and I totally over do it on tandems. I am downloading approx. 130-160 pictures for the tandem. But after some serious thought about this, I am going to change that to around 50-60. Much faster downloads. I know several vidiots that will only take about 20-30, but not sure why, I like for my customer to get all that they can for their money. AND I don't jump non-stop like some other vidiots. (*But would love to do that if anyone is hiring!!!!) With the 2 gig card, I can take over 1,000 pictures with the camera set on large pics. Still getting to know the camera but that seems to be working very well. Hope that this is helpful to you. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Appreciate it, trust me, I was probably the most frantic that I have ever been. The spring actually ended up about an inch away from the door that was about to be opened, call it luck if you will. I was extremely lucky to have located everything seeing as though they all went in a different direction and I was about to shit all over myself in a panic. Emerald Coast Beach Boogie - Memorial Day Weekend!!
namdrib replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Fortunately, I am sporting the bald look these days but here recently, been contemplating doing the whole hippie thing again. (*Always do that when we have a cold spell) As for the fruit of my loines, (*That would be my kids) they will not be able to attend a boogie with me until I convince everyone to stop drinking and be sober like me even though I could quite possibly be the most boring person on the face of the planet when I don't drink. Which I haven't in over a year and a half. Hmmm, go figure. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area! -
As most of you know, and most of us do, we are forced to continuously check the pins on our rigs prior to getting on/getting out of the plane. But here is a useful tidbit of information for some of you camera flyers out there. As you may or may have not read in my previous post, I had somewhat of a malfunction with my Bonehead Optik Illusion camera helmet. For those of you that fly a "Cutaway System" on your camera helmets, CHECK YOUR CUTAWAY PIN REGULARLY!! I was doing video for the Roaming DZ boogie down in Dublin, GA. Everything was going very smoothly up until the point of jumprun. We were about 2 minutes out when I went to place my very nice/expensive helmet with my very nice/expensive Rebel XT Digital Camera and my very nice/expensive Sony MiniDV video camera attached to it on my head when all of a sudden, my ratcheting strap was in one hand and the helmet was in another. The pin went one way, the spring went another and the washer, yep, you guessed it, went another direction. NOW, I, along with my trusty tandem master and student were on a PAC so there was little room to go ape shit and panic. My tandem master informed the pilot that the videoman, that would be me, was having some difficulties with my gear and we would have to do a "Go Around".. (*Thanks Art) Luckily all of the hardware was found and the helmet was rapidly placed back together in a fashion that it would NOT have cutaway if I were to have any problems. SO, the moral of the story is, I am a dipshit and didn't check ALL of my pins. Mistake noted and learned from, hope you can do the same!!!! Dude, you don't know how bad that totally sucked. Thanks for the go around!!! Thinking of some serious JB weld for that bad boy, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the cutaway system! oh well. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I wanted to let everyone that I met, knew, jumped with or video-ed at the Dublin Boogie that I had a great time and it was an absolute pleasure. I met some really cool people, video-ed some cool dives, (*Don't worry, I won't mention that first 4-way on Friday morning, I hope to skydive with everyone again really soon. To the Tandem Masters, Tandems, videographers that I worked with this weekend, it was a pleasure working with you and hope to be in the sky with you again soon. To Clint, (*Turtlespeed) Keep working on those one liners, dude, you impress me.!!! Blue ones!!!! Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!
