  1. I thought you and I were the last 2 facebook holdouts on the planet. I feel so alone now.
  2. You tried facebook? Seriously? YOU tried facebook? Sorry I can't help other than express shock over your facebook reference .....
  3. Wow they are OLD! LOL I guess I am too. I saw them ages ago! I was maybe 30 at the time and one of the oldest people in the crowd.

    Turkey Recipes

I brine and stuff mine but I usually just do a breast. Tyler Florence gets me through the holidays every year. On one of the Food Network Thanksgiving specials last year I believe most of the chefs agreed that you are better off with 2 12-14 pound turkeys than one really big one.
  8. And me at 3, I think. Fun jump and a nice memory.
  9. I can't zoom in enough to be sure but I think Gomei and I are in the base on the 2nd pic. If so, I remember the jump--- walking into the hangar and being asked if I had my number because they needed a couple more "brothers" for the base. We launched a 4 way diamond and a few of the knights didn't think we could pull it off. Needless to say, we did! Love the first picture with Roger too.
  10. Today is Dia de Los Muertos. His daughter and I remembered him this afternoon with an excellent meal at one of his favorite restaurants, then enjoyed the different altars set up in Pilsen. I think he would be pleased. Kind of bittersweet, but this could be a new tradition for us.
  11. It's Gomei. Guys- be careful out there. Its been a pretty crappy 10 days or so. Tell your people you love them, let go of old grudges and call that old friend you've been meaning to call for a while. Life is short, don't take it for granted. Thanks for starting this thread, Rainbo!
  12. Good luck. I hope the stars continue to align for you. I just started a new job after spending several months dreading going to work every morning and leaving drained every day. That's no way to live!
  13. Where I work, everyone has to go through a background check. And I would like to think that the DZO where I jump would not knowingly hire a registered sex offender as a skydiving instructor. The story may not be newsworthy but it is worthy of discussion here.
  14. Is it the skydiving or the after hours partying you don't want your mom to see? When my mom and my aunt were still alive they came out to the DZ a few times. They enjoyed meeting my friends and seeing where/how I was spending my weekends.
  15. I saw it on Daily Mail which when not covering the Kardashians tries to find the trashiest most sensational "news" they can find. So news? Probably not but if that were my home DZ I would want to know.
  16. I've done a few Mexico trips with my sisters and their kids- young adults now. Lots of fun BUT sometimes travelling with a group can be exhausting- we seem to need a committee decision for everything we do!
  17. I read your posts- all of them- and you did knock those guys several times. Go back and re-read them if you don't believe me. You're still knocking them. Skydiving is a dangerous and unforgiving sport. They did their best to drive that point home. You didn't like the delivery and I get that. Your perspective may change after a few more years in the sport. I'm happy you went back and talked it over with them and I wish you the best of luck on your future jumps. My student progression started with 3 "working tandems" then AFP. My first 2 tandems were great. The 3rd started with a poised exit, me outside the plane staring at the spinning prop. I froze and held on to the plane like there was no tomorrow. The tandem master had to peel me off, and then I pulled low- maybe 5k instead of 5.5? Not my best skydive to say the least and for panic to set in on my 3rd jump? Like you, I got an earful on the ground (because of the low pull and because delaying the exit like I did could have hosed the rest of the load.) I was embarrassed and I thought he was kind of a dick about it but the next day when I started my AFP classroom training, I was at the mock up practicing my exit before class and during every single break. My next poised exit was perfect and I didn't lose altitude awareness again during the rest of my student jumps- I got the message in spite of or maybe because of the less than gentle delivery and it made me a better skydiver.
  18. Exactly-if you read the OP's description of the jump, he was unstable, froze and did not deploy his parachute. That's not something you can sugar coat in a debrief. He's lucky to be alive and it sounds to me like these 2 instructors did everything to help this guy in the air AND on the ground afterwards. Now he's online complaining that they weren't nice or understanding enough. No one is doing him any favors by agreeing with him there.
  19. Great job knocking the 2 guys who saved your life. My advice is to do a tandem before you try AFF again (remember to arch and follow instructions) and bring those 2 AFF instructors a case of decent beer along with an apology and a thank you. You did endanger their lives and they did manage to save yours. Seems kind of shitty to trash them now.
  20. I still miss her and think of her almost every day. At the DZ she was always approachable and never made anyone feel like a "newbie" she was too good to jump with. Off the DZ she was just as warm and fun to be around- maybe more so. She had a huge heart.
  21. Well it is done and it doesn't sound like he was being terribly discreet so she probably would have found out eventually. In the long run you did her a favor but she probably hated hearing it from a co-worker so yes, it might be awkward and I wouldn't expect a thank you bouquet any time soon. The most important thing is that you didn't do it maliciously and you aren't gossiping about it with everyone else at the office.
  22. I agree with Skymama- it could be an interesting experiment assuming you aren't counting on making any money and you are not emotionally attached to anything you are getting rid of. You might be surprised to discover your neighbor with the MBA and 6 figure salary is a closet klepto!
  23. thanks for sharing. At some point in the video, it became less about "Hannah's Transition" and more about "Hannah's Life" which I think is as it should be. You look like quite the proud granny!
