  1. Oh, see there you go with that radical subversive left wing liberal logic again!
  2. Of course the prosecution could have done a better job, but the police botched the investigation from the start. They knew immediately it was a high profile case, they knew who the primary suspect was and they should have known to make sure all the i's were dotted and all the t's were crossed. Instead, they were sloppy. It was a while ago and I'm no legal expert but what I remember hearing is that the crime scene was compromised before evidence was collected and I also recall hearing about evidence like blood samples being left overnight unguarded in a police officer's personal vehicle. Just plain dumb!
  3. You're using two very bad examples to prove your point. In the OJ case, the police badly mishandled evidence, effectively rendering all the DNA tests useless in court. The police blunders created lots of "reasonable doubt" and the jury had little choice but to aquit under those circumstances. Blame the police, not the system, not the high priced dream team of defense attorneys, and certainly not the jury! And with the Peterson case, there is very little hard evidence. The prosecution is relying heavily on motive, opportunity and circumstantial evidence for a conviction. Its no wonder the jury is having a problem.

    Pizza !

You're an Atkin's lovers dream! When I was being very strict low carb and the office would order in pizza, I'd scrape off the toppings and eat them. I always felt a little guilty about "wasting" the crust! You would have been a perfect "pizza buddy"!
  5. You're not weird. I'll bet you live someplece where fresh seafood is common and reasonably priced! My niece from SanFrancisco made a comment about wanting to go there a while back, and my jaw hit the floor! I mean, the girl lives right near the ocean! Red Lobster is the seafood equivalent of an Olive Garden restaurant. Its a chain, reasonably priced and the food/ atmosphere, etc is OK, good even, but not outstanding! If you live near the coast and can get good seafood at a reasonable price already, why bother?
  6. And one of their Bloody Marys in the big glass with the jumbo shrimp. Yum!
  7. Yeah, do whatever you want at the work place! As long as you don't want or need to keep your job, anyway! That's a luxury many of us would love to have.

    Bengal Cats

Mine's only 1/2 Oci but I'm pretty sure his daddy came from a breeder. He's got the spots, the long lean body and at 5 months old, he's already bigger than most house cats ever get! A whopping 10 pounds and still growing! This morning he was "hunting" his toy mouse! He's quite an addition to the household! And Evelyn, He's soooo sweet! Just loves to be around people. Anyone can pick him up, but what he likes best is to snuggle up right next to you while you're watching tv or whatever! (When he's not "hunting" his toys or chasing the other two cats, that is....) If Bengals have half that sweetness, then you've got one special cat there! BTW- my Oci is fascinated with water too!
  9. Nope, I think it was called "Mr. and Mrs. Loving" and its only a few years old. I'm pretty sure its based on an actual case that went to the supreme court.
  10. Interesting that you should bring up MLK since I was channel surfing last night and there was an older movie on about an interracial couple who had to fight for their right to be married. (The state they lived in arrested them and they had to leave the stae in order to stay out of jail.) I found it to be pretty relevant! Morality to me is about tolerance, peace, forgiveness and being kind to your fellow man. Hatred, bigotry and intolerance have nothing to do with morality.
  11. If I were allowed 2 votes, vote #1 is take it like a man because no matter how justifed, that's just not acceptable behavior- sorry! You screwed up! HR had no choice once the note was brought to them. They could have easily fired you. Which brings me to vote #2- the guy's a whiny byotch! But the whiny byotch could sue the company for creating a hostile work environment, and your note/ behavior is going to make it pretty tough for HR to fire the guy! Good luck! Sounds like you made a bad situation much worse!

    Bengal Cats

Kind of reminds me of my Ocicat! And he's awesome- very sweet, loves to be around people and loves to play!
  13. Well, I'm not sure where Cora is, but I'm in the base in all 3 pictures, in the red, black and white.
  14. Nope, but with power locks, thats kind of hard to do. I have left lights on and killed my battery more than once, but I haven't done that in a while!
  15. I'm in there too! (At least the shots in the air, but I don't think I was a part of the dirt dive!) maura
  16. Yup, NuCuLar gives me the creeps too! Bad enough when its used by an average guy on the streets, but if I comment any further, this may get moved to the SC!
  17. This should be a no brainer. Private schools need to be funded by the parents and alumni of the students attending these private schools. Why should the tax payers fund private education? The real issue is how PUBLIC schools are funded, which right now is horribly unfair. If funding for public schools was more fairly distributed, there wouldn't be as great a need for private schools. Educating our nation's children should be a top priority for all of us, even if we aren't parents. They do represent our future, after all!
  18. And why is it that we're only using our "power" to police oil rich countries that piss us off? There are nuclear capabilities and gross human rights violations in other parts of the world too, but we ignore them!
  19. ummmmm, do you really want to go there with the spelling errors, etc? I'm guessing if someone took the time to go through all your posts, they might find one or two as well..... (me, I don't have the time and I wouldn't want anyone doing the same thing to me........)

    Mystery bruises!

Well, a couple of years ago, an encounter with an opening canopy in freefall left me with a black eye and some nasty bruises on my arm. The eye faded pretty quick, but the bruises on my arm hung around for weeks. It was summer time, my office was warm and long sleeves just weren't cutting it. One day a customer very discreetly took me aside and asked about the bruises, letting me know he worked with battered women, and he could help me. I actually thought it was really sweet, since between my eye and my arm, most people would just look away. They were afraid to ask what happened because I might just tell them something horrible. (But hop around on crutches, and EVERYONE wants to know what happened!)
  21. They could place a lien on your property making it impossible for you to sell or refinance without paying it. Eventually, they could foreclose on the lien. And, chances are, if you have a mortgage, there was a clause in your mortgage stating that you would abide by the rules of any HOA, so technically, you could be in default on your mortgage and your lender could foreclose! Depending on how the by-laws are written, they might even be able to force you out of the home/ neighborhood if you don't comply with the rules. If you are buying a condo, or buying into a subdivision with an HOA, its important to read the by laws!
  22. You should get together with her and stage a coup! Of course when I did shows and dance recitals in school, most of our costumes were made by our mothers! And I also agree that $100.00 does seem high. But the alternatives you posted cost even more, so I just don't think you'd get far with the price objection. I do think the ladies in the group need to get together and decide what's appropriate to spend on a costume for the performance, and come to an agreement as a group. Funny, this is reminding me of last night's episode of Desperate Housewives!
  23. When you were a kid and did dnace recitals or class plays, did you pick your own costume regardless of what everyone else wore? Personally, I don't think its THAT bad. Its a costume that's going to be worn on stage, its less expensive than the other options and if you say no and wear your own thing you will a) stick out like a sore thumb and b) alienate the other ladies in your group. Unless you can find something suitable thats far less expensive I don't really get your objection.
  24. No, but I have to admit some of the views I've seen expressed here in this forum are radically different from what I believe, and I don't consider myself to be all that liberal, and I'm definitely NOT "left wing". Some of the hate and intolerance expressed here has been pretty shocking, bordering on bigotry, and I do have a hard time hanging with bigots in general.
  25. Pot?? Kettle?? Which are you? There are jokes and stereotypes about every state in the union! For the record, my 15 year old nephew is 100% Texan, and absolutely delightful (even if he does like Bush)
