My Uncle Joe always had an off beat sense of humor. When he was dying from lung cancer and knew he didn't have long, he sent my mother a remote control whoopee cushion with instructions that it was to be placed in his casket and set off during the wake. She brought it with her but didn't do it. She took a look at some of the people there and decided most of them wouldn't survive the shock!

LMAO, but so true! I didn't think anything about the name until this morning. When I read about the product yesterday, I thought it sounded really cool. Especially for us people over a certain age with bad eyes and fat fingers who don't want to deal with the tiny buttons and miniature screens on the iPhones and iTouch products.

I would think that doing "your duty" would include removing yourself from the jury if there is any hint of complicity or conflict of interest due to the reasons you mentioned, as opposed to abstaining from voting. There are a lot of checks and balances in the system to prevent any potential conflict of interest. Plus, the idea is to choose jurors from all walks of life, not just people who have nothing better to do. I've been called a few times but never even made it into a courtroom for the initial interviews. Luck of the draw really- they had more potential jurors in the pool than they needed and the group I was placed in never got called.

We haven't had Jack in the Box in the Chicago area for ages. Because of that, anytime I am anywhere near one, I have to stop and have a couple of their nasty tacos!
-
My hairdresser in Chicago is awesome and only charges me $30.00 for a haircut. At those prices, I can afford to go every 2 or 3 months and keep my hair looking healthy year round.

Well, for one thing, they aren't your panties so why should you profit from them? I have never even considered donating used panties, much less selling them. I can't imagine there's a market for that.

Honestly? Most ordinary women don't really have the booty required to make a thong look like it does in that picture. Not to mention, boyshorts are more comfortable and look better under clothes. And that thong hanging out the back of a pair of low rise jeans? Sooooo tacky!

Well, I am sure there are some decent shows that can return to the 9/10pm time slot that Leno was taking up. Someone at the network really didn't think this one through. Other than that, I don't really care.

Agreed. I am pretty bad about working my calves but they get a workout on the elliptical, treadmill and every time I wear high heels. I make a point of working my hamstrings whenever I work my quads though.
-
Do yourself a favor and do some hamstring curls along with the wall sits just to balance things out. That will help your knees.

I think they had more issues sharing the stage with someone so "over medicated." I thought Metallica was great at that show. Ozzie, on the other hand????

Allergies? My eyes can get really itchy and if I start rubbing them, they just get worse. But, they always return to normal eventually. I wouldn't run to the eye doctor unless your vision is affected and/ or they don't get any better after a day.

Hitting anyone for "talking smack" is the sign of an ignorant immature person Agreed. It really isn't acceptable to hit people in general, especially not for a lameass reason like that.

Best f*ck you song when you break up with someone?

For us ladies, I don't think anything can top Lucinda William's "Come On". -
If you enjoyed the class you should go back and keep going. If any of the women have a problem with it, its their problem, not yours.

There is a man who is almost always in my Zumba class. I think he honestly enjoys the workout - its a great cardio workout. I don't think he's gay or there to pick up women or watch us shake our booties. Why do you have to play it off as anything? If you want to join the class, join the class and enjoy the workout.

Sadly, germaphobic people can't grasp the proper seasoning of cast iron cookware......Never, ever, use soap.... It will destroy months of good seasoning. Cast iron and stoneware are two different things. Honestly, if you are only using your pizza stone for pizza, I don't think you should ever have to do more than wipe it down to clean it. But if you use your stonewear for cooking other things, they can get pretty gross. The grease can pile up and soak in. (of course, that's why soap can be a problem also..........)
-
Its probably worse to use soap when the stone is still new and hasn't built up any seasoning. The thing is- there is a difference between seasoning and crud. You should be able to bake cookies on the same stone you cook your pizza on, without the cookies tasting like pizza or vice versa.
-
Agreed 100% But I will also just add- I have some stonewear myself, including a pizza stone. I've got one piece I use a lot - normally I just scrape and wipe it down with a wet towel, but if it is greasy, I will wash it with soap. I also rinse it really well and nothing I have ever cooked on it tastes soapy. I don't like tasting soap in my food but there is no reason to keep tasting the same food you cooked 6 months ago either. Some people use pizza stones as an excuse not to wash dishes!

There is nothing wrong with makeup, but when I see a woman in the locker room caking on the eyeliner AND using a flat iron on her hair before she even hits the floor, I think she's there for reasons that have nothing to do with fitness! (And there is a woman at my gym that does both, along with the cell phone thing!) Also, I used to feel really out of place at the gym by my office, but I kept going (because stopping at the gym on the way home was better than sitting in traffic) and ended up getting really used to that location, so much that I like it more than any of the other ones I have been to. But, I hear you- every gym seems to have its own "vibe" - I thought this gym had kind of a snooty vibe, but now I think it was just me. The people there are actually really friendly and down to earth. I was just feeling self conscious when I first started going there. I lost a decent amount of weight a few years ago, and hitting the gym regularly is really the only reason I've been able to keep it off.
-
OK first of all, you should never be embarrassed to work out at a gym regardless of what kind of shape you are in. Never. The only people who should be embarassed are the ones who use the weight machines as lounge chairs (while other people are waiting to actually use them,) constantly talk on their cell phones, bring in giant Frappuchino type drinks to sip on as they "work out", or park in the handicapped spaces so they don't have to walk too far. OK- lets add the lady who flat irons her hair and puts on eyeliner BEFORE the workout! [/laugh] Seriously, just do your thing and remember that pretty much everyone in there had to start somewhere. I agree about the gym membership- I think it takes more than just paying for the membership to motivate most people, but its a start. (I know I had my Ballys membership for about 10 years before I used it more than sporadically.) Honestly though, once you start going regularly, it does get easier. As soon as I walk into the gym, I know I am going to do some kind of workout, even if I am tired and not really in the mood. I'm there already, and I am not just going to turn around and walk out. I can't say that when I get home at night. Its too easy to sit and relax and there are too many distractions. Workout buddies aren't always a good thing either. My best workout buddy (aside from a personal trainer who got paid to be my "buddy") was and still is my iPod.
-
Great ideas but the truth is, for most people motivation IS a factor and it is easier to stay motivated at a gym. With a gym membership, the hardest part is getting there. But once you are there, you are much less likely to plop down on a couch with a beer and a remote! I admire people who are disciplined enough to work out at home. I am not one of them. Dave's also got a point about having a dedicated workout space. I think that would really help with the whole motivation factor.

A few years ago, our "neighbors" at the dz were partying into the early am hours with their techno. I actually got up, walked over in my PJs and yelled at them to turn it down! "Its not even MUSIC!!!!" I'm still a little mad at them for turning me into THAT person ........... but, the SO was training on a team that summer and they had to be geared up and ready at 7. I knew at least one of his teammates would be over at 6 for his coffee, and that pounding beat was just getting under my skin .......... I still hate most techno, but I promised myself I would never do that again. I've invested in a decent headphones instead!

I'm very sorry to hear that, Mike. My condolences to you and your family.

Cheese filled gnocci in a creamy alfredo style sauce from a small Italian place in my old neighborhood. Great little restaurant that was open for less than a year before they went out of business. Everything was good, reasonably priced but for some reason, the place was always empty! The gnocci was especially good- to die for as they say........ Probably literally too. Between the cheese and the carbs, it was practically a heart attack in a bowl!
