Is it totally dead? Is there some app still on, a light in the background and it just won't respond to anything? If so, the simple solution is to let the battery totally die then try charging it again. That's happened on my iPods and my iPhone before- kept trying to charge them and that only made it worse.

Actually, I read about a study (I think on MSNBC.com) a few weeks ago. They left smart phones lying around to test people's honesty. Most of the phones were apparently returned but most also had evidence that personal files were accessed on them. go figure ........ Your co-worker is a tool.

Well, I like it! Hope you can have it done just the way you want it!

Would you have done different? Maybe take a picture for the "seen at Walmart" site???

Different situation but I agree in theory that it's a slippery slope. In this case, I believe the doctor was investigated but I don't know about the outcome. He risked her health and well being by implanting all those embryos at the same time, and the health and well being of the babies that were born as a result. Not much of a medical advocate, IMO.
-
No reason to shoot either of them. She and her 14 kids should move in with the doctor who implanted all those embryos in her uterus - I believe the same doctor was responsible for all her pregnancies. He is no different from any other dead beat dad out there - he should accept responsibilty for his actions.

Not exactly news. Must be a slow day on CNN. Maybe she can pick up more celebrity boxing matches. And actually, I think the doctor who implanted all those embryos into an unemployed welfare mother of 6 is the one who should be supporting those kids.

Shah, You need to learn basic English grammar. Krip was using your name as an adjective- "shah like", "shah type". "The Shah" would be a noun. "To Shah" (verb) probably means to reject an attractive intelligent woman in favor of a ditzy bimbo with a great ass. (A "shah type" girl.....) OK, actually it looks like there are a lot of potential definitions of "to shah" .......

I live in the Chicago area and trust me- we eat thin crust pizza, not just stuffed, or deep dish. I will take Chicago thin crust pizza over New York thin crust pizza any day of the week. I'm a Jersey girl by birth and still have plenty of family on the east coast. I've done the taste tests!

If you found a bank bag full of money, would you return it to the bank?
tigra replied to JohnRich's topic in The Bonfire
My BF picked up a wallet that a girl had dropped at a gas station. ID, credit cards and a little cash. He was able to get her phone number from directory assistance, so he called her. She did come and get the wallet, and she thanked him but at first she treated him like he was some kind of ax-murderer/stalker/rapist instead of a nice guy trying to do the right thing. Sad world we live in. -
Over the summer- Ozomatli, Flaming Lips, Mana and Paul McCartney. Enjoyed all 4 but I have to say the Mana and McCartney shows were both outstanding- as they should have been considering the ticket prices. The last time I saw Yes had to be at least 20 years ago and Jon Anderson was still with them. We snagged 3rd row seats somehow. Glad to hear they are still rocking it.

I think it would be really difficult for 3 people to kill someone together and only leave one person's DNA, semen, fingerprints, and footprints behind. Maybe I watch too much tv, though.

Are you asking about skydivers or people on this site who also skydive?

Sadly I was on a load and missed the halftime show . But this seems to be a bit of an ageist thread! Maybe someone needs to found OFROPS (Old Fart Rockers Over Phorty Society). Remember, "you don't quit doing the Super Bowl halftime show because you get old--you get old because you quit doing the Super Bowl halftime show!" I don't know- I am all in favor of OFROPS in general. Most of my favorite bands qualify and can still put on a great show. Technical difficulties or not, the WHO's performance last night was pretty sad (although they had a good finish.) Most of the comments here are justified. They looked like they would be more at home at Dennys enjoying the early bird dinner special.

I was pretty much ripping on them last night myself. But, to be fair, I think a huge part of it was technical difficulties. With Roger Daltrey especially, it seemed like he just couldn't hear himself at first. I think the first 2/3 of their set was essentially a sound check. By the end, they actually sounded great. At least they were actually performing live and there wasn't any lip syncing. I'll take them over the Brittenys, Janets and Justins any day!

Anyone familiar with Anterior tibial compartment syndrome from running?
tigra replied to Anvilbrother's topic in The Bonfire
There's your problem right there. This may be a bit extreme, but I'd consult a physician. I kind of figured he had since he was using the big words instead of just saying shin splints! I had to look it up! -

Seriously! I have never been a runner but I got kind of shamed into signing up for an 8K run next month. I was really surprised by how much just running on a treadmill can beat me up. My feet, ankles, knees, hips and back! I can tolerate other forms of cardio really well, but the running is very challenging for me right now. I'm not that large but I have also never been small. I'll be returning to my friend the ellpitical as soon as this run is over with! -
Sometimes I need to remind my sister that I don't watch as much TV as she does when she goes on and on about some show that I never watch. I adore my sister but when she gets on a roll about one of her favorite shows, it can be hard to take. I'm just trying to get her to change the subject, not saying I am better than her. I used to watch a lot more, but the writers strike a couple of years back really helped me get out of that habit. There are shows I watch and like when I am home but nothing I will rush home or stay home for. I gave up on trying to record shows a long time ago- I could never find the time to watch them!

Strapless heart rate monitor suggestions needed
tigra replied to Anvilbrother's topic in The Bonfire
I think decent fitting shoes is really important. Some of the other stuff might not be technically necessary but it can really help keep you motivated and focused. Good luck! What is motiviting me now is the fact that I signed up for an 8K run that I feel really unprepared for. I've got less than 2 months to train, and its been a great incentive to find my way back to the gym this winter! Its not that I want to win the race, but I do want to finish without completely embarrassing myself! -

I lost almost 40 pounds a few years ago. I've lost weight before and always gained it back, usually with a few extra pounds tacked on. The only way I have kept the weight off this time is with regular exercise. Its not just about the weight though. I feel better and have more energy when I am working out regularly. -

tigra replied to Anvilbrother's topic in The Bonfire
That's only partially true. You program your heart rate monitor with your own personal stats which automatically makes them more accurate than the monitors on the different cardio machines. They also keep track of the average heart rate, the highs and low and how long you sustain it. Of course nothing is 100% accurate and we all burn calories differently but its still a good tool. The truth is, most of us think we are buring a lot more calories in a typical workout than we really are. The heart rate monitors give you a more realistic picture. -
Well Walt probably wouldn't chicken out like my mother did!

Strapless heart rate monitor suggestions needed

I am sure you can pick one up with a chest strap that fits and even if you can't, you could modify it. The strap itself is just a strip of elastic material that holds the monitor in place. And it really is cool that the Polars can transmit directly to the treadmills and ellipticals. -

I used a Mio for about 2 years and I was happy with it over all. Yes, you need to check your heart rate by putting two fingers on it, but you don't need to stop or slow down to do that. And, you can check your heart rate whenever you want to - it doesn't need to be in "workout" mode. It was strapless, convenient and accurate enough for what I was using it for. Plus, I paid less than $40.00 for mine. It died on me because I changed the battery myself and screwed up the waterproof seal. I liked it and would have bought another one, but I couldn't find the same model and what I did see in the stores and online cost about as much as a basic Polar. The Mio did a lot less than the Polar. Plus, the watch portion of my Polar actually looks like a ladies watch. Since I wear it everyday, that was important to me. I bought the basic Polar and I would never go back. The chest strap never bothers me- except maybe when I first put it on after it has been sitting in a freezing cold car all day!
