I knew before I jumped, and it never bothered me at the time. I knew the owner, I knew how the gear had been stored, and I figured if I needed the reserve - it would work, and if it didn't, I wouldn't have to go to work on Monday. It was a different time in my life, and a very different time in my country. Life was cheap back then, and living seemed a little more random than it does now. t It's the year of the Pig.

Easy there Bill. You'll scare the non climbers. I remember telling someone who asked what a nut tool was for. "Well, first you need to know that you jam your nuts into a crack, to prevent yourself from falling. Sometimes your nuts will get stuck in the crack, and you'll need the nut tool to get them back out again, or else you need to leave them behind. No one likes to leave their nuts behind..." He gave me a very odd look, and said, "Fasinating. I don't think climbing's for me though..." t It's the year of the Pig. -

Just imagine how a Bruce Lee fan who knows nothing about climbing will see a big Hex... I'm guessing you can fly with it, but some of that stuff looks a lot more scary than the spring in your reserve pilot chute! You'll probably have to check it. t It's the year of the Pig. -

Ahh. Oldest reserve packjob I ever used was 3.5 years old. What's that... 38 months out of date in the US? It's only 36 months here. It was a friends gear and he'd stopped jumping. I'd gone out to the DZ and needed to do a back to back dive. Of course, the worst happened. Can't remember the details, but I needed to chop, and did. I had a hard, fast on heading opening. These days I tend to stick to the rules, which here, are 6 months for reserve repacks. I don't beleive that 120 or even 180 day repack cycles are required. I think it should be a year or 500 jumps, whichever comes first. t It's the year of the Pig.

Again, we agree. I think women are quite capable of savagery though. I see lionesses at the kill, while the men look on. Humans are more capable of savagery than any species on earth - women included. t It's the year of the Pig.

Flew level in formation with the Porter for a few minutes without losing altitude. Issues with starting the engines meant they had to be started at 6000ft and idled till exit, and never liked to run over 10000ft. Monster wings, folding and ugly as fuck... but it flew. t It's the year of the Pig.

Well, that's obvious, so no one mentioned it. If he hadn't pissed off the French so much at the start of GW2, they may have worked a little harder at building their tyres. I'm kidding. Just kidding! t It's the year of the Pig.

56 hours 57 min 17 sec. Ruined by early days "altitude" of 8500ft. 800 CRW dives, 750 Tandems from 9500ft and a regular exit altitude of 11000ft. Birdman may bring the numbers back to some level of normality some time in the future. t It's the year of the Pig.

A Cruiselite 220 sq ft, F-111 seven cell, because at the time, it was a high aspect ratio, high performance canopy relative to the 5 cell Viking Superlite. I think I was loaded to about 0.8 and the margin for error was slim as the recovery arc was very similar to the line length. From there to a Nimbus (9 cell 220 sq ft) Then a Coe-D 210 (PD-210) Then a PD 170 Then Perigrine 150 (Excalibur copy) Then Jonathan 120 Then Stilleto 107 and that's where I am now, after 20 years and 4600 dives... No hurry... t It's the year of the Pig. -

Cool! The Red/White/Black colourscheme looks a bit busy for my taste. For a demo - I think I prefer the Black/Grey (And Orange that I'll soon colour in!) t It's the year of the Pig.
