  1. Many soldiers in extended conflicts do this. Logistics break down. Ammo is redistributed. Nice to have your own back-up. Mossbergs cut down really well to 4 shot pieces with a pistol grip if you're prepaired to carry one up. I guess all pumps would - but Mossbergs are cheap. As a back-up when you may be wounded and things are up close, I'd imagine they make good kit. You end up carrying so much shit anyway another 3lgs is worth it if you need it. t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. Because it's easier dealing with the recoil than on the Mac 10? With that Rate of fire - even relativly anaemic rounds do lots of damage if you can put them where you want them.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. As requested. t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Are you sure it's from Afganistan? They were first issued to the 93rd British Highlanders in early 1854 prior to their deployment to the Crimean peninsula. (Balaclava? Charge of the light brigade? The noble 600?) To the best of my knowledge they were never deployed to Afganistan. But I may be wrong.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. It's something you secretly want... isn't it... t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. Ahh. Like a vegetarian chicken hawk.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. Mud hen? t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. That's going. Half MOA and with 7mil Rem Mag you can take things out to 1000yards. In good conditions and the right hands that could pull off a head shot - but I'm a firm believer in the chest shot beyond 600... specially with that kind of power on your side. The 870 was used in Nam. This I know. t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. You gotta go the handload route - but not for defensive use. I handload for the .44, .357, 38 and 7.65. Just imagined someone popping into this thread and reading "It's been a while since I shot Rita..." LMAO t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. Was that pic taken in Australia? t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. And relax your upper body.. Be the willow - not the oak. You'll get fewer bruises and much faster follow up shots. What do you load her with? (My Sako is called "Bishop" in case you think the naming thing is odd.) It's the year of the Pig.
  12. I had.... access... to a Chinese made Simonov for a while. Same calibre as the AK, but in 10 round stripper clips... t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. I like that Rem 870. There's a time proven design. I think their only mil use was in Vietnam... but I'm not sure. The 10/22 is a 10 shot. It's a rotating mag, right? t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. The SMLE - It's in .303, right? t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. Nice! Is that the one with the wood all the way to the front of the barrel? I have the bayonet.. It was my Great Grandfathers - and my Grand dad used it to scrap limpets and mussels off the rocks for 30 years. When my Gran died I cleaned it up. Looks pretty good right now.. but the clip is forever shut. t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Well, they're a privilige here, and the authorities know exactly what you have registered on your licence, so I'm not saying anything (our) big brother doesn't already know... t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. To the Feds... I live largely in a fantasy world with my skydiving bretheren. We watch a lot of movies. Most of this is junk.... 1. Ruger Redhawk .44 Magnum (Stainless, Tasco LIR Sight) 2. Ruger Security Six .357 Magnum (Stainless) 3. Tarus .38 sp (Stainless) 4. Walther PPK 7.62 5. Berretta Mod 71 .22 (Suppressed - pasive/active laser) 6. Sako Finfire Range .22 (Integrally suppressed - pasive laser) t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. It's a good tip, but is usually only thought of by CReW dogs. When wrapped or entangled - you try and get out and open under your reserve to a point. Beyond that point you're going in - and if you have a canopy you should be hanging onto your partner or his gear and hoping there's enough out to save you. If you have no canopy and the clock's getting to zero - you may as well go for broke and fire the reserve (or use a tersh if you have one..) 1000 ft sounds about right... t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. Does it go kinda like "Da ta da da da ta ta?" t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. Yeah... It's rough, isn't it? You should speak to your AFF instructor about it and see how he went about solving the problem you have.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. Wow. I was right with you till you threw me in the same category as the wrongdoer and showed your prejudice against people using different gear to you.. But I'm just being defensive, right? You don't think that all swoopers are like that, Right? t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Also good. I do an equipment check at 1000ft to see if something got bumped getting in. You seem quite relaxed in the plane. I usually tell my students to stop thinking of the dive at about 6000ft, and to think only about the climbout and exit after that. t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. Pretty damn good! The only things I would add is don't fly up or down line of flight after opening to help minimise a collision with or proxcimity to other groups - but I don't know if you're jumping at a high capacity DZ. If it's a Cessna - you're probably doing great (Unless its a caravan..) Also, be extra vigilant when doing the S turns to lose hight. If you're doing a left and the other jumper is doing a right and you're at the same altitude - there could be issues here. Might be an idea keeping the helmet on till you're inside too - but again - this is dependant on lift capacity and traffic. Good job! How many dives do you have? t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. Re the E-licence. Is Australia the only country in the world with an E licence? I see no FAI E licence requirements. If I have 4000 skydives, and have held a D licence for decades - am I required to wear an AAD because I don't have an E? (This is accademic - since I wear one anyway, but I'd like to hear your answer.) t It's the year of the Pig.
