    I do understand your system. I was commending it's function - which we're witnessing at present. Personally, I don't think a "jury of your peers" is a very scientific way of trying people. Some other countries have a Judge and 2 assessors, a more "proffesional" forum, less prone to being swayed by popular sentiment or "dream team" lawyers. But it's a system, and as you move higher through it, all it's checks and balances come into play, which is nice if ever you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time... t It's the year of the Pig.

    That's quite a presumption... Do you think the family would feel better if he were put to death and then be told they got the wrong guy? If he did it - they'll get him. If he never did it - I'm guessing the 3 men who have been free for 18 years are probably long gone. If I'd just escaped from prison on a burglary charge - I don't think my 1st move would be to hack a family of four to death. So is "peacefuljeffrey" in favour of the death penalty? If the answer is yes... I'm glad your name's not "vengefuljeffrey" What would you be in favour of then? t It's the year of the Pig.

    With you there - CAA are still looking for him after he did an illegal chopper jump from 1000ft in Cape Town. I heard the pilot lost his licence on that one. t It's the year of the Pig.

    PM'd you, but then googled it and found one. He always knew what made him happy, and that's the way I remember him. I recall a night at a DZ about 10 years ago, Skydive Africa, about 200km outside Johannesburg and near a Casino. These were pre lottery days, and the Casino had a "dream machine" jackpot which stood at about R3,6 million. (Then about $1 million.) We were all talking about what we'd do if we won. There were the usual "I'd buy a Ferrari" stories, I wanted new gear and a tent and a ticket to Perris. When it was Grahams turn, he said, "Well, first... I'd pay my debts." There was an impossibly long pause... Someone asked "And the rest?" Grahams reply? "They'd just have to wait..." Cool guy. t It's the year of the Pig.

    I agree with you. I think it was Bill Booth who pointed out that the slider is the primary reefing device for square parachutes, and that if the slider grommets are not hard against the casino chips - you're going to have a hard opening. Bill? I think it may have been on a Tandem packing manual about 10 - 12 years back? I use an old "Trash pack" method (Like a PRO pack on the ground) that's worked for me for 19 years, from Cruiselites, through Tandems, competition CRW rigs, high wing loading elipticals and a few base jumps - and I've never had a "hard" opening. I also think a "hard opening" is very subjective. Maybe my pain threshold is just a little higher. or I'm less picky than most. t It's the year of the Pig.

    It is incredible. When I started skydiving it was 99. Then years later, 100. Then 126 - last of the "Blowhole" records, then the 144 diamond - and since then, it's just gone balistic. Awesome. t It's the year of the Pig.

    I think you'll do it. Eventually. Whenever I have an AFF student fly through in a weekend, I think of you. You'll get your chance, and skydiving will always be there. Dude, gotta tell you, your avitar doesn't help. Whenever you mention your "medical condition" and I see you sitting in that Jaguar - I think of the dude in "Momento" The Jag's even the same colour! t It's the year of the Pig.

    I'm not a USPA member, but a friend I have is. I've had a glance at her SIM, and will be looking at it in a lot more detail soon. So many aspects that are "thumb suck" here are in the 2004 SIM, like starting camerawork, etc. Truely a valuable doc - for all skydivers, everywhere. t It's the year of the Pig.

    A good friend of mine lost a Stiletto after a chop. It was gone for months. It was lying on the ground with bushes around it - and had faded in places from Teal to almost white in some places. The main was given the OK by PD, and he still jumps it. It looks funky. I'm not sure about the risers - I'd replace. Main bag etc are still critical components - but everything above the 3 rings is sacrificial - the reserve freebag I'd replace. t It's the year of the Pig.

    You'd need more than just altitude. Some canopies can land safely with 180's started at 80 feet. (SM 290) Others would need 10x that. Then there's tempreture, humidity, density altitude, altitude ASL, etc. Lots of stuff. t It's the year of the Pig.

    Bridle made of cotten? No. Get it checked out. Here, under the hole in the ozone layer, with people in their teens getting melanoma - I wouldn't touch gear that's been out there for a week. t It's the year of the Pig.
