  1. I hope to be there but I have to wait and see if my leg is going to be ready. I should be back in the air in 4-6weeks from now as it has been 5 weeks since I tripped in a pot hole in the landing area....., how about you?
  2. Amateur.....you...HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Suck it up, enter the pro event and kick some ass, like we all know you can and have done.
  3. You are forgetting that with a longer recovery arc comes higher speeds, that require faster decision making abilities, and being able to recognize trouble earlier so you can make the appropriate corrections to save your life. Not exactly the wing I would want to learn on.....
  4. Hey bro, you can use my Velo 84 for the comp if you want. I would lend my new JVX.2 77 but I haven't even jumped it yet. pm me if you want it
  5. I just posted a ground launching flick on skydivingmovies.com. The footage was taken last year during camp #5 at Lake Isabella. I can't wait till the November camp/ boogie. clicky
  6. Here is a composition Burt Cotton took of me at Lake Isabella during a GL session getting back into shape for the camp in November.
  7. I think that needs to be said again....Thank God there is only one Mark! Hope all is well bro.
  8. I had a full sail 83 and did just over 100 jumps on it and left it packed and found no memory folds in it. Unlike ZP the sail material changed very little (to none) over the time I owned it which can be significant as I jump at a desert dz.
  9. Here are some carnage shots I took about a year ago of two unnamed pilots. No animals were hurt during these shots, as there was no fish in the Perris pond at this time. note the shoe on DSC_0139, it was a cloudy day so the light sucked.
  10. Please evaluate what you are doing…… You want an RDS not to enhance performance, but to decrease your visual obstructions while under canopy. However you jump at a C-182 dz, and you have indicated you would not use this system at a larger dropzone. This really makes no sense to me…. I think the point everyone is concerned about here is that you want to jump a system that increases the probability of having a malfunction, not to mention the types of malfunctions. That probability goes up exponentially when you become a test jumper. Secondly you are deploying extremely low, I understand that you are not getting out of the plane until 9000ft and you want to get all the freefall you can. However put things into perspective, if you deploy 1000ft higher you lose 5 seconds of freefall. When you have a malfunction this 1000ft can be the difference between life and death. So to recap: 1) you are using an experimental RDS 2) you are deploying low 3) little experience (for what you are doing). During the time I have been in this sport people never die because of one thing, it usually takes three (sometimes more) mistakes or errors and their family and friends are left behind. I think it is great that you enjoy trying to improve on existing technology, but maybe you should focus on learning the basics of survival first.
  11. Hey PJ good to hear you pursuing canopy piloting! if memory serves correct Jim Slaton at canopypiloting.com is offering free cyber-coaching in the forums sections. I think this might a good place to get more advice on top of the excellent information you have already received. Take care and drop me a line....
  12. How are the openings? Does anyone have Joe's RDS on something around an 83/ 84. Do you find the rings pivot on opening resulting in an exaggerated swimming opening or increased propensity for line twists?
  13. I find the sail cloth definitely makes this parachute fly like a rocket!
  14. Here are a couple taken by my wife of me about a month ago at Perris, it was a hazy day so the light isn't that great.
  15. The 2.0 packs up very bulky, however, I have found the material is not as slippery as new Zero-P. The material is also very crunchy resulting in the canopy seaming like it wants to open up, maybe over time it will get softer though. Mine is brand new so it I can't mention how it will behave over time.
  16. I think you are correct JP, fire me a PM buddy and let me know how things are going in CO. Take care Bro
  17. All of the dropzones in SoCal are great, it depends on what you are looking for. If you want to crank out a bunch of jumps then Perris is the place to be. Elsinore has a pretty good pace and a has excellent vibe and great people. I haven't jumped in SD in years as I was there before the ownership change and it was just to slow. Hope you have a good time......
  18. That is Awesome bro, gotta any pics of the rental car? (before and after)
  19. What HO tel are you staying at? I am too lazy to do my own searching.
  20. Here are a few taken of me at Perris. Photographers; Kris Reynolds, Duane Hall, Curt Swanson Thanks Guys
  21. This was a question the same user posted in April of this year..... _________________________________________________________ My weight is 251 lbs with equipment, I started with a 190 sabre for at least 80 jumps (@1.32), then I went to a 170 sabre for 95 jumps (@1.48). A friend gave me his canopy to probe it, it was a safire1 149 (@1.68), I love how this canopy opens, good flare but it doesn't fly to fast and I didn't have to long flares (180º front risers) on it (better than sabres anyway). I made at least 20 jumps on it, but my friend need it, so I gave him back. Now I have to buy my own canopy, a lot of people told me that I have to buy a Crossfire 2 (xfires are very popular on my DZ), but I don't know if buy a Crossfire2 149 (@1.68) or 139 (@1.8). Some people says that a crossfire on a low wing load isn't too efficient (1.68), that I need at least @1.75, but in the other hand I heard a lot of people talking about good flare and speed on his crossfire at @1.65. I want the canopy for at least 2 years (350 jumps) but I'm not sure if the canopy flies good at this wing load (@1.68) or if I'll get bore to quick of this size and want to downsizing too quick. It will make too much difference from 1.68 to 1.8? Do I have to buy the 139 or the 149? Anybody talk about his experience, tips, advices, anything. I can't demo because I'm from Chile and I need a canopy right now. Thanks safe swoops ________________________________________________________________ Maybe he is just fishing........ as there is a bit of a discrepancy in the numbers between the two posts
