This just arrived from a guy I work with (a software engineer) to everyone in the company...maybe you have to know him for it to be funny, but I think it's hilarious. ----------------------------------------- Kestrel Ali Fink was rip't untimely from the womb on February 19, 2007, nearly two weeks past his nominal due date. It appears that he was holding out so that he could be a Golden Pig instead of a Fire Dog. Mother and son are doing well. Vital stats were 7lb 13oz, and 19.5 inches at the longest point. Well, to be exact, he must have weighed a bit more -- the little varmint managed to empty his bladder as he was being lifted out of mommy's belly. His innate sense of timing has not diminished since then; we expect he'll be a great comedian someday, although we may have to repaint the walls of his changing room yellow. He still hasn't written a single line of code yet, but the pediatrician said that some babies are a little slow, and he probably hasn't slid below the 20th percentile yet. Still, we're anxiously waiting. As you can see from the attached photograph, Kestrel has his father's chin, his mother's eyes, his grandfather's chin, his mother's chin, and the nose of a curly-haired woman whose name I can't recall just now. Man! Even though it was about ten months ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. That was a *damn* good party. In addition to the untouched image attached to this message, I have a Flickr folder of heavily photoshopped images that conceal his... special endowments. It's a new competition. That was the Space XPrize. Now they have just started a Genome competition that began in the summer and they expect to go 3-5 years, and they will start an Automotive XPrize soon to build a fuel efficient and environmentally safe vehicle. Not that any of us were allowed to bid, or could afford them, but there was a fundraiser tonight for the Xprize (at $1250 a plate), and a couple of the items that we were drooling over: 1) Trip for 2 into ZeroG with Stephen Hawking ($20k) (edited to add Robin Williams' comments... "ladies and gentlemen, Stephen Hawking is not a projectile". And after 5 minutes of immpersonating his electronic voice, "has anyone ever noticed that electronic voice boxes sound an aweful lot like Pakistany taxi drivers?") 2) Trips to Richard Branson's private homes, one in Africa, one on Necker Island, topped off by a trip on Virgin Galactic. ($300k+) 3) A custom made Fisker Automobile. You get to choose the Italian leather personally with Mr. Fisker. http://www.supercarnews.net/2006-fisker-tramonto ($300k+) (I think the car auctioned is actually nicer than the one in the link) They raised over $2MM towards their next prizes. It'll be interesting what they come up with. I believe next is Automotive where the prize will be $25MM. Maybe someday when I have a few hundred thousand burning a hole in my pocket.

Some of the questions are kind of random, so not saying that I would get them all...but I would also not get them ALL wrong. That is the most awesomest show ever! I bought the first season 2 weeks ago, and it lasted me about a day and a half. Then on Saturday, I got to talk to NPH and the guy who plays Ted at a party...they were just like they are on the show...so cool. Made me like the show even more. Anyway, I love that show.
