Went to HI last year, and not a problem making it through any of the checkpoints with my rig. My wife got stopped at every one. The only difference was I showed my military ID and she showed her drivers license. They even checked her shoes at one of them...but I think that guy was just weird. Shit happens. Does anyone know if it is technically correct to say that a canopy which requires input to plane out is dynamically unstable, much the same way an F-16 is considered unstable, and one which requires no input to plane out is considered stable? Had a guy prove that Hostess Snow Balls are bite size. No one saw him do it, but he stuffed a whole one in his mouth prior to getting out of the plane, and then after we got stable, he showed us. If you don't know what's going in, it's very interesting to watch a pink thing crawl out of someone's mouth in freefall. Eventually it was funny. Shit happens. I agree with exiting in the meeker. Very stable as everyone has at least two points of contact. Inside guys have three. I would say meeker, donut, stairstep diamond, bow. Meeker to donut is easy. If he had had a sense of humor, he would have told you to enter holding. I did some X-countries in Hawaii and they couldn't be beat. Exit over the Bonzai Pipeline looking at Sunset Beach, fly back past Waiamea Bay and Haleiwa to Dillingham. As long as you kept blue on the right and green on the left, no chance of getting lost. I figure I knew no one and I got a chance to do some RW with different people and that was cool. I just felt like such a rube when the LO asked for the money after the second jump and I was caught by surprise. Really wasn't trying to beat him out of it, just didn't know. Shit happens. Ran into a new situation this weekend where the LO's collected a buck a person for each load they organized. Does everyone (anyone?) else do that? This is the first time I jumped at this DZ and the first time I ever saw it. I have jumped at approximately a dozen other DZ's. Also, if you are ante'ing up to an LO, does that mean you have more say into what you do, i.e. "No thanks, I don't want to float, I would rather practice my diving?" Shit happens.
