So, she's into bondage, huh? Nice. Congrats. And go Trojans. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  2. The Coast Guard lost a helicopter and crew last Thursday out of Air Station Barbers Point in Hawaii. Three crewmen were recovered and did not survive. The fourth was never recovered. PO Josh Nichols was the flight mechanic and was recovered. The September 9th Honolulu Advertiser states that while stationed in Virgina, he packed parachutes at a skydiving operation. He also appears to have been injured about three years ago jumping when stationed at ATC Mobile in Alabama. May have jumped at Emerald Coast or Gold Coast. Condolences to family and friends who knew him. BSBD
  3. It must be true. I have already waivered Brady and added Favre on my fantasy team. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  4. The individual was worried about an unconscious landing under his reserve after an AAD fire following his incapacitation. He was jumping a cross-braced 69 and had a very small reserve. He felt he could land the reserve with his input, but did not look forward to the results of a landing with no input. Our "discussion" lasted about a case of beer. I did not and do not agree with him (I think you are right on the mark), but I understand his though process in not using it. I meant RSL for CRW. I am not familiar with all of the issues involving CRW and wondered if there was something in their procedures that dictated not arming the AAD as well as not connecting the RSL. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  5. Valid point. After thinking about it, swooping with an AAD that does not have a swoop mode would be another instance. Although the original poster of that statement does not list it as a favorite discipline and has nothing smaller than a Sabre2 135 listed. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  6. In another thread, someone wrote: I have heard of people jumping without an AAD because, "My reserve is so small, if it deployed when I was unconscious, it would kill me anyway. And if it didn't, I would be so broken up, I would want to be dead." I have seen people disconnect RSL's because they were doing CRW. I understand the thought process in each of these. But I cannot come up with any circumstance where it is safer to jump without an AAD. I can't believe anyone would verbalize the old, "I'm an instructor and might have to chase a student down low." But are there people who think that way? Any light would be appreciated. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  7. Duke seems to have recovered nicely. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  8. Military aviation terms are every bit as good. "Mother, I have your father, strangle your parrot, I am at angels two for cherubs five." Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  9. Number of jumps? Canopy type? WL? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  10. While waiting for TS Fay to hit I went through some old vids I had. Found one I mixed of swooping in Byron from about three years ago. It was a great time in my skydiving life. I posted the clip on the video page. Opening sequence has a shot of GFD on the ride to altitude. One of the sweeter swoops is Tommy D. Couldn't ask for greater people with whom to jump. BSBD friends.
  11. Seven spelling errors Improper use of "its" twice Improper use of "and" instead of "an" Repeated word Improper attempt to make "guy" possessive World-record 43-word sentence Are you a typical Cuban of Spanish descent? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  12. Wow, aren't we in a "jagermeister dispenser half empty" mood? Here's a new artist's rendition. Note there appears to be someone dressed in orange standing on the tailgate. Must be either a Tennessee fan or an inmate at the county jail out to pick up trash along the road. Either way, he would probably say inmate just for the added status. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  13. In the plane and in freefall video. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  14. Or included an artist's rendition! Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

    Olympic Sports

Concur, but I would paint with a broader brush. All gymnastics, diving, figure skating, and surprisingly boxing where there is no KO/TKO. (Not subjective? Ask Roy Jones or Michael Carbajal.) If the judges are not unanimous or a layperson cannot confirm the winner, that introduces the opportunity for chicanery, skullduggery, or fraud. Also dressage. It may be too boring, but I don't know. I have never been able to stay awake through an entire competition. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  16. Not bad, but I thought this one from the same source was better. Where did it hurt that first girl? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  17. 1. Go to South Padre Island. 2. Go to Whataburger. There's one on the corner of Every Street and Everyother Street. Corporate HQ located there. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  18. Raymond Hunter Geisel agrees with the original post. But apparently he wants a piece of President Bush, too. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  19. They say it is about 580 lbs/hour for normal cruise. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  20. Sorry I missed Skyfest and never got to jump one. From the pilot handbook: "If the engine quits in instrument conditions (blind flying when you can't see the ground) or at night, the pilot should pull the control column full aft (it won't stall) and keep the wings level. The leading-edge slats will snap out at about 40 mph (64 km/h), and when the airplane slows to a forward speed of about 25 mph [40 km/h], the airplane will sink at about a parachute descent rate until the aircraft hits the ground." Sounds safe to me. I assume they are talking cross-braced parachute. The An-2 has no stall speed quoted in the operating handbook. Pilots of the An-2 say one can fly the aircraft in full control at 30 mph. What's a C-182 stall at, 55 mph? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  21. Bubaskydiver posted a vid of a jump in Argentina from an AN-2. Looked like a cool plane from which to jump. Roomy inside. Rated for 12 passengers. Door looked a little bigger than a King Air with a rail and a step. Could probably hang three or four outside (roomwise). Unique factor way up. Radial piston biplane. Not many of those being built anymore. I realize they are old and probably inefficient, but there are a buttload of them out there (over 13,000 produced). Some estimates say one can be purchased for about $30,000 US. Countries currently using the AN-2 include: Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Azerbaijan, Byelorussia, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Laos, Latvia, Mali, Mongolia, Nicaragua, North Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovak Republic, Tadjikistan, Ukraine, USSR, Uzbekistan, Vietnam. Several European dropzones in the database list the AN-2 as one of their aircraft. If one of those countries were to get the world meet and declare the AN-2 as the aircraft of choice, do you think any US dropzone would then buy one? Or do you think the US team would train abroad? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  22. Was Chick Leal (USMA 75) one of them? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  23. This place got a pool? Pool and a pond... Pond be good for you. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  24. You're lucky. I know a guy who can only count to 20 and 1/2. His ticket was a misdemeanor. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
  25. Good call Dave. Found it right here. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
