  1. Very intense. That definitely put me in a sobering mood. I couldn't even finish reading the whole thing. It was a little too much to take in all at once. I can't believe that someone would be so fascinated by that disaster that they would expose themselves to those kind of radiation levels. I have to agree. It definitely makes you think.
  2. Congrats. I was at sky knights on sunday and heard that you made a jump this weekend. That's awesome. Hopefully, I'll see you guys on Saturday. Ryan
  3. http://www.phydiux.com/bill_lumbergh_soundboard.cfm Bill Lumbergh sayings and sounds. Have at it.
  4. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I am actually shopping around for life insurance now. I have contacted multiple insurance companies (or insurance agents) about life insurance that covers skydiving and not a one has gotten back to me with a quote yet. The D&D life combo sounds like it is probably the best way to go. Although since I haven't gotten any quotes on life with or without skydiving coverage it might be difficult to compare the two options price wise. Thanks again, definitely something to think about.
  5. I thought that it sounded good at first glance, but I was put off by all the exceptions where benefits won't be paid. It's great that my girlfriend(in my case) would be covered if I go in skydiving, but if I go by heart attack, benefits won't be paid??? That put me off for sure.
  6. 0:2:0 Got out to the DZ late on Sunday and had to wait a while. The one cessna was tied up with tandems. Got 2 great jumps in late. A three way and a four way. Lots of fun challenging points. Can't wait till the big plane arrives.
  7. I had this very same experience on my first tandem jump during the canopy ride. I didn't pass out but I came very close. I just figured it was sensory overload. Now that I think about it I'm sure that very tight leg straps had something to do with it.
  8. I pack for myself most of the time. I like my openings better and it helps me to better know the gear that I am jumping. I am still not very fast but getting better. I will really have a rough time when my new Sabre 2 arrives. Might be time to learn how to psycho pack. I have and will use packers if the need arises.

  10. Did you pay extra for rush service? I did last time I renewed because I had taken two years off and I was eager to jump that weekend. USPA faxed over a membership confirmation two days after I applied. That should be sufficient to jump at any USPA member DZ. I don't believe you will find a USPA member DZ that will let you jump until you have your current USPA card or a confirmation fax.
  11. My first three jumps were tandems at Skydive Chicago in '98 and we were taught how to pull. The tandem student was supposed to pull the ripcord at 5,000, and if he didn't the tandemmaster would at 4,500 himself. Altitude awareness was stressed. We also did two practice pulls after exit. Makes you feel more like a skydiver than a passenger.
