My tounge switch has the same leaking membrane problem. Is there some nifty liquid rubber stuff that we can refurbish the membrane with? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

See ya tomorrow Casey. Here's another neat video link. Pay close attention to the insanely low pull at the very end (the slider hits the stops at about rooftop level.) Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Yay for new houses and dinner parties Floaty: If you want a hand with the wedding video let me know. I FINALLY have some free time to work on video projects. I think i'm going to keep my computer in the trailer this summer so that I can firewire video straight to it from everyone's cameras and edit in my spare time. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Woohoooo! I just finished my last exam and summer has officially started! YAY! I'll see everybody at Joe & David's tomorrow! Ohh, & here's my pick for video of the week: Slaton swooping the new Icarus JVX... WOW (note the lack of stabilizers) Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^Amen, there were lots of fun jumps this weekend. For the first time in a while the FreeFliers vastly outnumbered the belly fliers . Thanks to everyone for showing up and breaking in the new SuperDuper Otter. Also, much thanks to Joey for the jumps and coaching! You rock! !CLICKY CLICKY CLICKY! This week's pictures feature Joey, the Dawns, Yhevgeniy, Marion, Joe, David, Todd, Szabi, & Doug. Enjoy Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

How about we get REI to start selling BASE gear? Then they'll bully the NPS around a bit and VIOLA Problem solved. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Thanks Mike, Congrads on passing trig! Can you trignometrically figure out how to mow a speedcarve course into the tall grass on top of the hill? Heh... anyhow, i'll be out at the DZ sometime today, and the latter part of the weekend... I have a damn exam at 8am on saturday Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Woohoo... I'm glad that we got the Freefly Friday ball rolling for the season It was great jumping, eating, and Twistering (yes, it's a verb too ) with everybody. We'll have to make another excuse to have a cool dinner next month. The weather for Sunday is looking better. Everybody come out and jump, there'll be a shizzynit's load of tandems. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^Yhevgeniy, you're right. I stole that link from the wingsuit forums... absolutely insane. I just talked to the O.G. Dawn. She's officially coming and will be bringing marinated beef, mushrooms & culliflower.

^Yea, I can see this being a bad week for all the grad students on the DZ... And dude, update your profile! We all know you have way more than 1300 jumps Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

So lets start a fondue list here just so we know everyone's RSVP status. I'm just estimating here based on what has previously been said in the thread and elsewhere. Definite: Marion, Eric, Casey, Elis, Dawn #3, Ross, Justin... That leaves Dawn #1 & #2, Floaty Mike, Joe and David. If any of you (or anyone else) are planning on coming post up so we can make sure to have enough grub for everyone

I've found that eBay has a pretty steady stream of PC-xxx cameras for less than $500, both new and used. I got a PC9 with a bunch of extras (a century .3, kenko .45, a kenko .5, and a few extra memory sticks) for $425.... Also included was the home made interracial porn that someone forgot to delete from one of the memory sticks Anyhow, I've put about 200 jumps on it and the only problem that I've had is the swivel screen getting a little loose. ^Paul has somewhere between 15-17 airplanes at any given time. At CSS we'll usually be jumping a different airplane every weekend, often several different airplanes in the same day as they are constantly flying in and out for maintnence and military contracts. Anyhow, the point that i was trying to make was that there isn't nessisarily a direct correlation between DZ size and number of jumps per year. CSS is a huge DZ, but our number of jumps per year falls short of a number of very busy smaller DZ's. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I can't believe I pay for this crap.....
eUrNiCc replied to davelepka's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Here's a question for you... Why does the USPA "spoon feed" everyone who wants to get their B license a bunch of information about water landings? In fact... not only do they spoon feed you information that you can easily find for yourself in the SIM, they tell you exactly how to handle unintentional water landings whether you jump in the desert or at the beach, and then throw you in a pool and make you DEMONSTRATE your proficiency to a USPA INSTRUCTOR! Water training is something that could be easily taught to folks for which it is relevant at DZ's near water, and would be completely irrelevant to people jumping in AZ. Canopy control effects us all. Now here's another question... When was the last time that there was an unintentional water landing fatality??? I can't recall one in recent history. Perhaps it would do more good to replace or suppliment the water landing survival training and proficiency with a course in canopy control skills similar to what's offered by Scott Miller, Brian Germain and others. I haven't heard anything about it either? Video of the day: Rob P's V1 flybys Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Damn... If that's not worth $1250, then what is? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^This is my *official* RSVP. If the group doesn't end up being too big, we can have a historical fondue re-enactment in my period 1970's trailer .... Who's bringing the PCP? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

This past fall a TM/BMI at our dropzone had nasty linetwists on a birdman jump on his S3 and had to chop. About 2 weeks later he broke his tib/fib on a tandem. After surgery he loaned his S3 to another jumper named Dave saying, "Be careful, my last jump on that suit was a chop from nasty diving linetwists." I went up and did a 2 way BM with Dave (his first jump on the S3). He was a little concerned to be jumping an S3 with his stiletto, but he had put a couple jumps on a GTI without any issues. He pulled high, and I dumped at my usual 3500. As soon as I turned around I saw Dave under his yellow reserve 1500 ft above me. A few days later I am at a resteraunt with Dave and two other friends, Joe and Dawn. Joe and Dawn started cracking jokes about Dave's mom being a crack whore. Within a week or so, Joe's new sabre2 has a big hole in the topskin and needs to be sent to PD for a cell replacement, so Joe borrowed an old Sabre1 from another jumper and whadda ya know?? His first jump ended up being a baglock . About the same time, Dawn is driving home one night when two guys who were running from the cops in a stolen car jump a median and sideswipe her at 80mph. The occupants of the other car both died, and Dawn and her boyfriend got away with a broken collar bone and ankle. The moral of the story: Don't make fun of the mom of the guy who just chopped on his first S3 flight in a suit borrowed from a guy who just broke his tib/fib shortly after a really scary chop on the same suit. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I don't wanna know..... or do I? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Elis, well put. From my observations, the pilots usually choose whichever pattern keeps them opposite the LZ, entering on a base leg to a short final... but this depends somewhat on the pilot. Mike... good luck getting financing... you can borrow the Vistalite for a little while if it falls through. Dawn's, Marion, Joey & others, I'll see ya friday Ohh... and can I be the official Fondue Friday photographer? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
