  1. just got my new rig this weekend... superpsyched ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  2. That sounds good... thanks Aggie! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  3. Edited: I'm an idiot, got it now! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  4. PD's.. i think i have an old manual though b/c it's only got an explanation of hard links ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  5. Haha, for once I did... but in the manual it shows how to attach the steering lines to the toggle but not the soft links to the riser. And Aggie, I'll go talk to a rigger once I get to the dz, but I'm sort of giddy/excited and want to see it all packed up now ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  6. Hey- I'm setting up my new rig now (which I will of course have checked out by a rigger before I jump) but I want to hook up the canopy on my own. How do I attach the soft links to the risers? Anyone have a good explanation? Thanks ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  7. one can only have such dreams! so i guess i'll be at the ranch tomorrow. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  8. thanks lt. you think someone will be there tomorrow, despite the weather? i'm sort of on this horrible time constraint... leaving the country in less than three weeks for an extended period of time and i'd be devastated if i had no rig btw, first name, not last, is maia ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  9. yeah, i still have it. i could/should call them on monday and see if the size of the lift web corresponds to the numbers i sent them. that sucks, i hate being *that* customer. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  10. i had two people check them over after i did them... they don't deal with the manufacturer but i can honestly say to the best of my ability that i gave them the correct numbers as were described on the ordering website. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  11. okay so i just got my new container (and it looks great, i absolutely love it) but when i put it on it didn't fit perfectly. i reallyyyy don't want to be picky, but the hip ring sits about two inches above my hip bone, which makes the whole rig sit very high on my back and uncomfortable to pull the hackey and arch. like i said, i had great service and the rigs looks really great, so i don't want to be one of those annoying customers, but then again, i feel like if paid so much money for a new container it should fit me well. what would you do? would you call the manufacturer? i know i gave them the right measurements but i have a long torso and i wonder if they figured i made a mistake and adjusted the numbers i sent them. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  12. have you tried using singularity functions? i think you could probably figure out the deflection for each material and use superposition to simply add the deflection at each point. look at the example problem... a fixed end support would have a Mo and a Vo. let me know if that makes sense... or even works or actually, it might actually only be the deflection from whichever material deflects more... just a thought. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  13. does a vigil fire count in this thread?? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  14. If you're looking for some cute boys, VSA is the place to go!
  15. i just did a naked jump this weekend in massachusettes (verrrry cold!!) and of course we got a bit of extra altitude so by pull time my hands were so cold that i had a hard time grabbing the hackey... and so had horrible body position when i finally pulled. i've never had so many line twists on my sabre2. there was a brief moment when i thought i might have to cut away and land off... nekkid. soo, my advice... wear gloves! you'll still be naked ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  16. thanks! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  17. so i'm getting a video camera soon and i figure i might as well get one that i can use for skydiving (once my jump numbers are up, don't worry!!)... so what do people recommend? as far as price range, i guess the less expensive the better, and under $1000 for sure.

    Australians??

Hey hey- So I want to go to Australia and do an exchange term there next year. Anyone have any ideas on where to go or how to start looking?? Thanks and blue skies! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  20. see if you can work out a deal with the dzo to bring a bunch of tandems in exchange for free jumps. most dz's (at least in the northeast) have some policy that if you bring 15 tandems, your tandem jump is free. trust me, i wouldn't have been able to get through aff without it! and college kids are the perfect candidates for group tandems ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  21. thanks everyone... there's some great advice here! like i said, im not ready to put a camera on yet but it's definitely something i want to do in the future and it's good to see what people say about it
  22. what kind of stuff should i work on to better prepare myself? you know, like is practicing more belly flying a good idea? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  23. Don't freak out... I'm not thinking just yet! But what's a good rule of thumb for how much experience someone should have before jumping with a camera? Thanks ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  24. awesome guys... thank you! hopefully we can something under way. at least it'll make the long drive to the dz better. are any of you guys in the northeast area by any chance?? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
  25. Hey guys My first post (ahh!)... Well, my friend and I made a pseudo skydiving club where we basically just round up a bunch of tandems and take them on trips (they get discounts, we get free jumps) and hope that some of them get hooked. For those people who do have college clubs, how'd you do it? Does the college pay for anything or recognize you as a club? Let me know--thanks! ~m~ ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
