sorry to start a new thread as i'm sure there are already so many like this, but i'm trying to decide if i should go to wffc tomorrow and don't really have time to search through. soooo... is there anyone flying into chicago tomorrow night that already has a car and is driving to rantoul?? i'll bring good beer, gas money, and EPIC company

Add my vote too!! I was driving through and stopped to get my oil changed... I seriously knew more about my car than the guy did and that is NOT saying much ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

i bought a pet frog once... the remorse came when i realized i had to go the pet store twice a week to buy LIVE GRASSHOPPERS!! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Haha that's great! I just wonder what it would be like somewhere else like Europe where the portions are even smaller than here! I'd get enough place settings for the "three other people" who are eating with me ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

i ordered lunch and it just got here... and they gave me two forks/plates because i ordered so much food! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

hey, a lot of us are guilty of this... i'd say i got about 100 free jumps in my college days after i ran out of guys, i just sent a mass email to the school and brought people that way! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Yeah, I guess my "home" is still where I first learned, even though it's been MONTHS since I've been there... it's hard to make the 6 hours drive ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

The post in general discussions got me thinking... do you have a home dz? One that you frequent every single weekend? I did for my first 25 jumps but then I took off. I've made it a point to travel and check out as many dz's as possible... up to 24 now! This is not to say that I don't have one that I jump at most frequently and have the most friends at- I just think it's fun to play with everyone What about you? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

24 dz's and counting!! Seriously, part of skydiving is meeting new people and trying new things and I don't think I would have gotten that at just one dz. The best part is, it's amazing how many people you run into at various dz's all across the country... ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Oh yeah? And are you one of these "actual" Rastafarians? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

ah- what a devastating day but haha, i might just be like everyone else who asks for advice in these forums and only listen to the answers that tell me what i'm looking for i'll post pics if i do it... ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

I did... I got the "I'm not sure, I'd have to see how it looks" kind of answer !! Should I tell him they're pretty permanent...? ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

What do you think?? Will I get fired on the spot or can I pull it off? I'd get real thin ones so they can kind of look like braids from far away... Note: Professional means professional... dress code is jacket and tie here. Ahhh I want them!! (Sorry for posting this is women only at first, I realized I want male/female input). ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

thanks for the input! this is what i was looking for... i can't wait! ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

I've taken both courses too, but I took Scott's course when I had about 50 jumps so I think I got very different things out of the two courses. I think one of the most valuable things I learned this weekend was learning about turns and different combinations of turns that can be used when there are hazards you didn't see before, when you are in a low turn, when you're landing off, etc... Also, we learned about how to maximize your canopy performance under turbulence, which I think is invaluable. Yeah, I guess that's more than one most valuable thing ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Of course...! In fact, I wish I learned this stuff a couple hundred jumps ago. We didn't really cover swooping (though I'm sure he would have gone into it had we asked). Rather, we started with the basic principles of the canopy and learned how to manipulate the wing in different ways to best suit every scenario. I think that's information that is useful for anyone, from 25 jumps to 2500 jumps. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Mmmmmm... what casino do you play at ?? Seriously, you play black jack long enough, you will lose. The odds aren't there. The stock market is much more like poker... people win and people the lose. The money doesn't magically disappear to the dealer each hand. So all that money that people lose in the market... well, others make that much. That being said, you definitely have to do research, and like I said, the most important thing is to hedge. If you want a bit of a headache at first, but good "insurance" on your trades, read up on options. You can buy puts on stocks you are long so if the stock drops you can still sell it out at a predetermined price, thereby eliminating that whole "losing everything" possibility. If you're seriously considering day trading, starting with real time quotes would help. Bloomberg is pretty expensive, but look into a Reuters or something. Also, you want something like etrade which will keep your money that is not invested in a high interest savings account. There's no point to trading for edge in the market if you don't earn interest in what you make. As far as stock tips, read the stock summary somewhere like Reuters or even yahoo finance... they have great reports and past prices/earnings. Check our morningstar ratings before making purchases. It's definitely risky, so do your research. Make sure to hedge your trades (ie. don't put all your money in one industry in case that one industry crashes). Diversify... invest in energy, tech, etc... I do it for a living, so feel free to ask me any more questions. ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~

Wow... all I can say is how amazed I am at how little I knew about my canopy! Seriously, we were in the classroom for hours this weekend and I found myself hanging on Brian's every word and every 20 minutes just being like "huh, I didn't know that..." I HIGHLY recommend everyone to take his course (or any other course for that matter)... I already feel a world of difference in how I fly my canopy. I just can't believe that canopy instruction ends after aff unless you actively seek it... ~ * Life Has No Rules * ~
