Not a BASE jumper myself, but interested. AFAIK the Sorcerer rig has a reserve. AFAIK again, this was the reason why Eric Fradet invented the Skyhook. Other rigs are for single canopies scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

I would personnally not recommend this canopy, and the manufacturer would certainly not recommend it either with the jump experience of the person who started the thread. maybe an Omin form Icarus, which is also a 7 cell, slightly elliptical, and which would certaily be more recommended than a Saphire2. concerning the new wingloadind after Cutaway, the difference in weight would be approx 5lbs ... not much to take into consideration... Oh yeah, add to that the 4 pints of sweat you lose when you cutaway scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

The TOP 3 Things People Seem to Lie about....but why?

the kill line will make you look younger and will prevent having your canopy pulled behind by the wind. It will fly better, even if it not always very significant. and if scared by forgetting to uncock the kill line, get yourself a bungee system which is also efficient, and very sufficient on "slow" flying canopies. (AFAIK) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

The toilet facilities at your DZ. Are they ........
piisfish replied to TheBile's topic in The Bonfire
ours are mixed male/female... and they are as clean as the last user leaves them. beautiful signature. nice name Gerbe... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -
If your reserve is loaded at .95, why do you want to fly a main at .5 ?? depending on what you can do under canopy with your 22 jumps, talk with your instructors etc, and check for a .95 bound canopy... Otherwise you'll have to buy a new canopy every 3 weeks. Not an incitation for downsizing too quickly. More an incitation to purchase a bit slower. nevertheless, better to buy a bit bigger than a bit smaller scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

That is exactly why you should have 2 hook knives (or even more, if you want to). that is exactly why jump with 2 complete rigs, that's 2 mains, 2 reserves, 2 cypresses, 7 hook knives (just like the number), 4 helmets and 12 dytters and I also try to get on 2 different planes... at least scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

the silhouette is a 9 cell, half F111, half ZP, flies well. Many people at my DZ have that. Gives you better landings than a navigator or a PD, and is still very conservative. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

why not ?? some DZ's are quite endangered because many whuffo people around do not appreciate skydiving and related nuisances. So this is the kind of requirement which limitates the risk of finding a skydiver impacted in a non-friendly neighbour's garden, the same goes with "no hook turns" Skydiving does not need to have a non-safe-sport publicity. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Drive to another Dz just because they have a Pond?
piisfish replied to Rdutch's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
no official pond at DZ's in Switz (AFAIK), but we can quite easily find a water surface... I never went on water yet. maybe this year. Or the next. edited to add : but definitely looking forward to have a ground course. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -
Nice one... We were planning to do the same to some guy who never spots when he jumps. Just opens the door and jump... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

from the small experience I have with skydiving rigs, takes approx a week. keep in a dry and ventilated space, and as usual do not expose to direct heat and sun. and if you hang it maybe change the position of the rig every once in a while, so it can dry out completely and not take a bad shape. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

from yr list, I'd say spectre or silhouette. discuss it around with your intructors concerning wingloadings etc. And get to try a few different canopies before buying. My 2 cents scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
