  1. do you have an RSL or did you pull it open yourself ?? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  2. I voted yes, because I would if I had one. But I don't have an RSL on either rigs I own. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  3. If in the US, wouldn't FAA regs require a rig with at least 2 canopies on a jump from any kind of aircraft? Wouldn't a PG be considered an aircraft for that purpose? If so, I'd think it would not be a good idea for anyone to openly admit that a skydive from a PG was made with a base rig. All hypothetically, of course. you could jump with a BASER rig (or whatever it is called), TSO'd Base rig with a reserve. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  4. isn't DZ.com a South African product ? edit to add : please keep the thread out of Speaker's corner material, and keep Andy in the US, we didn't send him there for no reason. USA is Europe's Guantanamo scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  5. I know the landing area, and the OP committed to a narrow part of the landing zone, plus with the rest of traffic coming in, not many alternatives for him. Add to that the toggle whipper, and you have a high stress landing. Teigen, next time may I recommend a landing "more in the middle" of the landing area, which will leave you longitudinal and lateral margin. And I would also recommend, in case that kind of thing happens again, talk directly to the person(s) implied, as calm as possible, and if needed get to talk to Ground Safety which certainly have seen the manoeuvres. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  6. well that's not Roberta for sure... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  7. the rig depends on the altitude you can get. Don't plan on getting higher than your take-off altitude. The reason is : is the PG pilot willing to fly a tandem wing in thermal/dynamic conditions ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  8. corrected for you. there are still a couple of 120 and 180 days rigs and reserves document for skydiving gear
  9. depending on how you grab and hold your toggles, you can easily put a twist in them each time you grab. After 6 jumps a day, that's 6 twists
  10. yup leave money in the safe and give me the code for it
  11. how much do you pay ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  12. I dont understand why he does a right hand 180 when he should be doing a left hand pattern. Did he get a talk by ground security after crossing the runway ? Did you talk to him ? Remember that EB is a very international DZ with lots of visitors who like to do it their way... Most people adapt to local rules or etiquette. Usually 180degree toggle monkeys know better than others and continue to do their shit. I know I would have talked to that person, and would not have been happy with him, and would have asked to not share the air at the same time anymore (unless corrective action is taken) edited to add : the situation might also have been accidental, and not competely intentional. Everyone can screw up a setup. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  15. if you have to act / pay , I wonder what kind of friends they would be. Be yourself. Pay what you are supposed to pay. When you feel it is appropriate, bring some beer/food/whatever to share and party. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  16. I stow them when I start packing. I take advantage of that moment to untwist the brakelines. The majority of people I see setting them "in the field" do not untwist the lines before packing and their lines look (and act) like crap. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  17. no drama ?? Post this in Speaker's Corner and you'll get the drama Congrats scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  18. it reduces the FLOPFLOPFLOPFLOPFLOPFLOP sound of the slider to a lighter flipflipflipflipflip sound. There is also a slight aerodynamical advantage, which will be useful later on smaller canopies, combined with a couple of other manoeuvres such as pulling the slider down past the toggles and loosening the chest strap. As you mentionned, you should not be trying this for the moment scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
