    generalizations on canopy flight are bad anyways. Not all canopies have the same flight characteristics, and not the same polar curve. What is true for a canopy is not necessarily the same for another one.     do I understand correctly, you were upwind, and trying so bad to get back to the DZ, you overshot it by 3 miles, never looking back ? if so, a GAP WEDGE is what you need you still did a good jod by landing safely in an unexpected place.
