  1. Played the french horn for 8 years but that ended 6 or 7 years ago. Somedays, I really miss it - I was a pretty decent horn player ... won a few awards back in high school.
  2. "What role, if any, speed played in the crash" wow.
  3. I'm slightly jealous... but tomorrow is my last day full day of work for a year. I'm going back to school on Monday.
  4. Let me guess - her first thread to be locked by a mod?
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBA_lxUiwSg&feature=player_embedded This makes me laugh - every time.
  6. I'm looking for a ski resort to take the family to over the Christmas holiday. Ideally, we'd like to rent a cabin capable of holding 10-12 people. Any thoughts or recommendations?
  7. I totaled my truck shortly after graduating college, and I had very little credit and literally no cash in savings. My dad, being the great dad that he is, paid for my replacement vehicle (2007 Mazda 3) in cash. Instead of giving me the car for free (as a gift), my dad acted as a lender and I was required to make monthly 'car payments' to my dad. Now, my dad was not concerned about making a return on his investment - he was more concerned with making the transaction similar to what I would experience in the real world. However, the interest rate charged on the loan was substantially below what the dealership would have offered (due to my lack of credit). I should also mention that I was required to convince my dad that purchasing a Mazda 3 was a sound decision. I had to prove to him that I had done my research and shopped around. I guess my point here is that giving LARGE cash gifts to ANYONE is just not how the real world (generally) works. There is no such thing as a free lunch, so yes - charge interest but be fair about it 'because they're family'.
  8. Ahhhh this thread made me laugh this morning. Good Morning Everyone!
  9. The book is much, much MUCH better than the movie (like always). I read the book and then watched the movie all in a matter of a few weeks and the movie lacks some serious character development for Lisbeth, not to mention it eliminates some of the most important sections of the book. The movie also was completely devoid of the love affair between Mikael and Erika. When I finished watching the movie, I was disappointed and actually disliked the way Lisbeth's character was portrayed in the movie. Stick to the book. Please.
  10. I helped install a sheetrock ceiling for my aunt and uncle, today. I also lifted and slide 3/4 inch sheets of plywood onto the top of the ceiling we installed. I don't know if i'll be able to move tomorrow, but it was fun.
  11. You people know some weird stuff, so I must ask the following. (yes, i'm doing my own research, as well) Let's say you lived (and died) in CA and had a partial ownership interest in a commercial property located in Texas. Will a Broker Opinion of Value (BOV) or Broker Price Opinion (BPO) suffice to settle the estate? Is there an option? Can the executor of the estate choose to have a full blown appraisal completed, instead? Sources appreciated. Thanks.
  12. I must say I received a few friendly PMs from folks here. Thanks.
  13. Life sucks today. That is all.
  14. Eh, maybe, call and make sure that the helmet is provided, the bike should be for the first MSF course. The ERC requires your own bike, which is the next step. Many times they require long sleeves, boots of some sort and gloves. Holler when you're going to come up, my weekends are jumbled between Texas Swoopers, trying to train and family obligations. Ketia, I took my MSF course from Awesome Cycles www.awesomecycles.com and they did a great job. They are local to Houston and actually mak the course interesting and fun. If you decide to go with Awesome Cycles and you land David (with the mohawk) as your instructor, tell him I said HI. Oh and they do provide the bike, but their helmet selection is limited. Might I recommend that you purchase a helmet ASAP and use it at the course? Good luck with the bike and PLEASE get your license and insurance coverage before you ride.
  15. I'm curious to hear how many postcards the slackers have received. They are NOT messing around.
  16. 30% manager 70% council wow - awesome job guys!
  17. EXACTLY. For some reason I like alcohol, sex and showering... all at the same time. Surely I'm not the only one...
  18. Interesting. Your first comment is dead on, which is why i was slightly miffed when one of the posters here suggested that i liked the attention. That is absolutely not the case. I've grown up quite a bit since I originally started posting here, but still have a loooonnnnggg way to go.
  19. Anyone with experience regarding Vistawall storefronts, please PM me. Thanks.
  20. Tis the best I can offer.
  21. Exactly what I was going to say. It's hard for me to brush off a family friend, especially one I ride with regularly. If he was a decent kisser, I might keep him around - JUST KIDDING. The friendship, however, may ONLY be about a riding companion... especially if I tell him yet again to leave me alone and he doesn't get it. He is stubborn and hard-headed. See now you're just taking the piss. You're obviously not serious about making him stop, and you probably like the attention. Without making this thread too serious ... I will counter. I can count on one hand the number of friends I have that ride regularly and he's one of them. I like riding with him, hands down. I've aggressively (verbally and in writing) expressed to him that i do not want anything more than a friendship, and he's made advances 3+ times. The problem is that I value his friendship - I've known him for years and this behavior of his has only recently developed. I am not a social butterfly (not even close) and tend to hang out with a very small group of friends. I am not attracted to him physically or emotionally, but I do enjoy his company... at least when he wasn't hitting on me. -- Realistically, this thread is just bull anyways - absolutely a waste of space (was bored while I was cooking). I know what I need to do, I'm just having a hard time admitting that to myself probably because I value (or valued) his friendship. Thought I might receive some interesting answers from you guys. Please carry on, I will continue cooking in peace.

  23. This guy is a 'family friend' and I doubt the dare/bet scenario is in play. I've known him and his parents and siblings, for 5+ years. My brother knows his brother, my parents know his parents... and have for many many years. Apparently, riding a motorcycle made me more attractive to him since he's only recently started hitting on me (I started riding in August). THAT actually compounds the issue, because he's one of a few people I know in my age group that rides regularly.
