  1. Under influence... don't think so. Hangover certainly. Nothing cures a mild hangover like a big blast of fresh air and a hit of adrenaline..... if you can survive the stench of the aircraft fuel without being sick!
  2. Who the fuck are you and your bully boy country to think its their responsibility to make people live their lives they way you live yours? Unless something is way out of line keep your nose out of other countries affairs. Its no wonder you're (America) not popular amongst LEDCs (I suppose us too). Someday some crazy country will stand up to you and give you a wake up call, hence the reason you're so shit scared about any other country getting their hands on nuclear weapons. You got such a big country with enough of your own problems to fix, concentrate on that before you try to save the world. Same goes for us too. As Beerlight says. I'm sure people would rather just live their lives and not worry about crap thats going on elsewhere unless it demands a response. I do have to question why nothing was done or is being done in places like Zimbabwe though?
  3. I think I'm going to get one of these to put outside the door at work. But it has so many possible uses!
  4. I remember a TV program a while ago where they set up a hidden camera and ran various scenarios. One was an old man lying on the floor in an alleyway, I think another was someone in a car slumped over the wheel and they were trying to see how many people walked past and how many would offer help or investigate. I think it was hours before anyone took 5 minutes out their day to check on someone else. For all they know they could have been dead I drove by (off duty on holiday) a cyclist laying at the side of the road with his bike in the bushes. I stopped to check it out, I honestly thought he was dead as there was no movement and was silent. Talked to him... no response. pinched his ear lobe.... woke up. Polish guy drunk had fallen off his bike and just fallen asleep where he laid. What pissed me off is he'd obviouslly been there for ages and people either hadnt seen him because their observation skills are shit or they didnt want to get involved. Yet as soon as I parked up to protect the scene these cars started stopping as they assumed I'd knocked him off and they were wanting to call the police Luckily one was an off duty policeman for that area and I showed him my badge, explained what I had done and we sent the bloke off on foot as he was too pissed to ride. Most of the public are idiots Obviouslly I've gone to numerous incidents on duty and hardly ever are people trying to help. We had a serious car accident other day and all people did was crowd round to watch I reckon its british thing, People are embarrased to help and have everyone looking at them. EDIT TO ADD: Its nice when you hear of positive things like this
  5. Its noones responsibility to police the world unless we are talking major atrocities. What you perceive to be extreme isn't neccesarily elsewhere. Tribes all round the world will still kill people for being involved in witchcraft. Even members of their own family. As scientifically educated communities we don't understand this but to a culture that revolves around strict religious practices this is what happens. I believe its incorrect to criticise people for their actions when its all they know and is standard practice in their country AND THEY ARE IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY. Obviouslly there is a line to be drawn somewhere, for example (and a serious one) genocide which would require some sort of international intervention
  6. One thing I'm thankful of is that we don't have a major crystal meth problem over here..... yet. But I'm sure its coming as we are traditionally a few years behind you when it comes to this sort of thing
  7. My thoughts exactly. Well done to that person. He definately reaped the rewards of his efforts
  8. The fantasies of a 'middle-aged' man. Scary shit that will haunt me for the rest of my days
  9. You're probably right. If there was someone with a weapon or ready to do mischief in Heathrow could they really respond in an adequete time? Probably not seeing as its the size of a small town and they are on foot. I still like seeing them though. Especially as some johnny foreigners think that British police don't have guns and are all soft as shite. Good for them to get off the plane and see a couple of guys dressed in black overalls carrying MP5s/G36s. Its the same whenever theres a terrorist incident. Massive reaction AFTER the incident with armed police and dog handlers in every port, major train station and public landmark. That always makes me chuckle. Such an expense as well as most the officers will be on overtime due to last minute duty ammendments.
  10. So how in the heck did y'all end up with Scoop? Fuck you! Policing is something thats very specific to the community in which you serve, This goes for rural to urban environments, county to county and shockingly country to country. We got it how our public want it, within reason. Interestig fact for you is that the last time an officer felt it neccesary to shoot an offender in our force was 25 years ago Do we all need to be routinely armed.... erm.. I think not. That stat speaks for itself.
  11. I would guess that once the armed response arrived he realised that one way or another it was all over for him. We can see which path he chose
  12. Says our legal systems but many cultures throughout the world would differ with us. Whos right huh? If its not in our country its not for us to say really and its wrong to force/enforce our ways on other cultures
  13. I believe you should still own your gun. If you were at any point to suffer any kind of mental illness, convicted of a violent offence or found to be member of some extremist party then you should lose that privelage and have your weapons confiscated. Other than that, fill your boots The problem isn't so severe that we need to be routinely armed in this country. Its actually very safe in respect of gun crime and for what little we have we have an adequate response already in place. At the same time police officers, and the general public for that matter, need to be aware that there are bad people out there who would like to do harm to them. I think most do. Its not the sort of profession where you dont appreciate risk as you spend most of your career in confrontation. I don't feel there is any solution to this as there isn't really a problem that can be addressed. Shit happens, has happened and will continue to happen forever
  14. As much as I also disaprove of the actions, its not my culture. Thats the way things happen in their culture so who are we to say they are wrong? This is the perfect example of ethnocentrism. I happen to be guilty of it as well but it proves how because we live our lives differently we assume others are incorrect
  15. I never understand this argument. It takes alot more effort and will to kill someone using some other implement other than a gun. You can shoot a gun at someone metres away. You can shoot a faceless silhouete of a target. You cant stab someone or beat them without being up close and personal and even then it would be with resistance. Even if someone was to attempt to hack a policeman with a machete hes got all sorts of options. The best option being to run away, run them over, spray with pepper spray or if no alternative, baton/fight them. Even in that final instance it isnt definately going to kill them. A gun certainly changes the odds severely. He may have tried to kill the officer if he didnt have a gun using other means but I doubt he would have, as he was a coward, hence killing himself too. Guns are weapons of faggot criminals (illegal) and opportunist (legal). For that reason they are bad news but I'm not saying we should remove them and I have no belief in any neccesity to routinely arm police officers either. No matter what you have in place tragedies will happen. Thankfully they are rare and I believe we have the balance about right.
  16. We don't need guns. The system worked fine up until that final moment. I'm comfortable knowing armed backup is no more than xx mins away.
  17. A sad risk of the job. You spend your career associating with undesirables the odds are something will happen. Sadly for this officer it was as severe as it comes. RIP

    600 HP grin

This is more my idea of 600HP+ fun BRITISH RALLYCROSS. 8 Nutters in WRC rallycars which are then adapted to make them quicker to 100MPH than an F1 car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xKqOxnxcwI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtc97gYiIwA
  19. My name is Sam Cooper. Used to sign everything as S Cooper so my mates used to call me Scooper which thankfully got shortened to Scoop. It has nothing to do with my hobby of picking up shit

    Moto GP

Lol yeah, a rabbit doing the splits
  21. Its fair to say as me and my old school friends have 'grown up' we've really diversified in what we do and how we spend our time. Our interests just aren't that interesting to each other
  22. Good idea! And we could have seperate ones for Jews and instead of calling it a community we could call it a ghetto. Maybe while we're in the process of cleaning up we could round up the homosexuals and gypsies too
  23. Just don't be so sure with your 'women get a hard deal, all men are animals' routine. Unfortunately giving evidence is something thats required to convict. I'm sure they are able to give a link via monitor or other arrangements are made for vulnerable/intimidated parties. You can't deal with things on the basis of someones word scribbled in a police officers notebook or on a statement unfortunately.
