I personally don't feel there should be any place for private military type organisations. The forces in Iraq etc should be regular troops ensuring security, even that of private industry. There is some pretty shocking videos of Blackwater on YouTube. Them harrassing people from their helicopter being one. Theres also one of an apparantly over eager sniper shooting at anything that moves. This sort of behaviour, although probably not typical, does nothing for relations over there. An American is an American to them I would imagine. Regardless of if they are wearing military clothing or 5.11s finest merchandise.

Some hippy will no doubt argue its an invasion of a persons civil liberties or some shit but it looks like a good idea. Upon reading a bit furthur I see people are alraedy whinging about it

I was very impressed. Crosswind to how he needed to positon for landing too due to obstacles. Its definately one of those jobs you can't have anything but respect for. The paramedics pay isn't very good either. Hats off to them.

Very impressed today. At a serious road accident, car vs pedestrian. I couldn't help but watch with my jaw open as the air ambulance flew in and landed between the telegraph lines and trees with only a few feet either side of the rotors AND with a strong coastal wind too Those guys do an amazing job and to think its completely funded by donations. Sadly their efforts were no match for the severity of the injury Good job guys, you got a fan here

Yes, the pesky CPS demanding evidence to charge! Who do they think they are!?
-
I think you are displaying some ignorance to how things work. One of these people I have a friendly rapport with was arrested 4 times in one week for various offences. Even if offences have occured you need some sort of evidence to suggest a paticular person was involved before you arrest them. Which comes from intel and good investigation. Stuff that cannot be obtained without having respect from the public and other law breakers alike. There is no such thing as honour amongst thieves and they will all snitch on each other to cover their own arse. I am very proactive so to say I only do things because I have to is ridiculous. I used to have the highest arrest rate in my department. Thanks to John Rich's rantings we don't really learn anything other than sensationalist media babble about how people aren't safe to walk the streets anymore which is utter rubbish. Fear of crime is disproportinately high in this country thanks to media. We do our very best 100% of the time. What the courts do with them after we've gathered as much evidence as we can is up to them and normally very frustrating for us. So the game continues... EDIT: Here you can see crime hasn't really changed in the last 3-4 years. Some figures have marginally incresed, others have decreased. Generally pretty stable though: http://www.kent.police.uk/PerformanceStats/cdrp.jsp?

You need to key up the surface first. If the varnish is in good order it might be as simple as using a scotchbrite and cleaning the surface prior to painting

Maybe spontaneous would have been a better term

LMAO - This thread reminded me of a funny sketch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY6ylPZcNpk

You don't get intel off people when you're constantly rude and harrassing them. Also when you're dealing with the same people day in day out, theres no point making your job harder by being an arsehole. Respect is a two way thing, I don't demand respect just because I'm in a uniform. I naturally expect some respect but I earn it by being reasonable. If you worked where you patrolled solo and your nearest back up was 20 minutes away you'd adopt a different approach too. Doesn't make us any more lenient just makes us think how we go about doing things and more inclined to use our mouths than resort to getting physical. I've worked in a busy town with swarms of other officers and you can throw people around and get in their faces but there really isn't any point. Its unprofessional for one and you will get a kicking now and again. Also being unnecesarilly aggressive escalates situations. EDIT: In 3 years I've only used pepper spray once and that was in a situation my colleague caused to escalate. I've never used my baton. I guess I'm doing something right... just as well really as now I am community I don't have spray or a baton

Its possible! On the rare ocassion I go for a run or something I'm buzzing afterwards. Guess you need to allow enough time to let your body wind down.

I got rid of mine as I was almost using it as my personal rally co-driver. I set the map to zoom in so I could use it to read what the road was like ahead and on what I thought was a gentle kink in the road I kept it nailed and the road actually developed into quite a harsh corner and I somehow avoided crashing. They are good tools, I do think they are a bit of a distraction though. As if modern cars don't have enough distractions already. Now I just work out the route before I go and write it down. One advantage of where I live is no matter where in the UK you are there will almost always be a sign pointing you to London which will get me on the right motorway.

Do some aerobic exercise after dinner. Go for a run or something. I find when I've been inactive like when had rest days midweek and I don't get up to much I have difficulty sleeping.

Got it in one. I have quite a good relationship with most the crooks in the area I work. We try to keep it a nice old fashioned style where we all know the score and have friendly banter when we cross paths. When we catch them they know its just their bad luck and us doing our job. We are on first name terms. Obviouslly there are the 100% scumbags out there that just dont care too.

Funnily enough I was looking to take up Rallycross. The local circuit is supposedly one of the best in Europe and they do a championship which is just in the Southern part of the country so save travelling. I'd probably have gone for the stock hatch class and built a car from scratch or possible modified class if I found one for sale at reasonable price. Sadly. My wish list is ever extending. Skydiving being at the top but all consuming for money, I'm hoping to get a sports bike this summer, I'd like to learn to scuba dive. So much to do. Oh well. Got years to do these things
