  1. like MEL said, it's a good canopy, not the most modern but nothing wrong with it, I jumped one for a couple years, then had a Pro Series until someone borrowed it and never returned it have your rigger look it over Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 2. you had me worried, headed there tomorrow for some fresh air.... Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  3. too funny - the misinformation that abounds, and google is just a few clicks away a properly sized and properly installed heat pump works just fine in the proper application, been around this type work for 26 years, the problem is there are too many installers that just have no clue how to do it right - if they would only follow the manufacturers instructions #1 - get the system checked, could be a refrigerant charge issue, or simply that the defrost cycle is either not working or on a setting that is incorrect for your specific situation, but it is not unusual to have frost or a small amount of ice on the outdoor coil #2 - don't put anything inside the unit, multiple issues with that What I'm most curious about is the statement, "I went outside and melted the water." Post a video of that please. Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

  5. that was on my mind for awhile, after talking with a lawyer and considering other issues, it was tough but earlier this year I renewed my USPA and didn't renew the ratings, 25+ years of instructing , tandems, etc., still do load organizing but sure miss working with students, toughest part is keeping my mouth shut when I see weak instructing - so far so good Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 6. always a tough issue with light weight newbies one big challenge with sub 150 canopies is the relatively shorter lines lengths, any mistake with a turn near the ground are magnified with bad results this really is a "talk to your instructors" item, they're in the best position to judge your abilities and discuss the options you could get a used 150 and jump it for awhile to get used to the smaller platform and performance, then go to the 135, there are plenty of good canopy brand choices Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 8. can remember some in the 60's don't know what you mean by "feel on it", it felt like air it the pilot knows the wind speeds are real high they won't go much downwind and exit separations are critical, 15-20 seconds or more can be needed Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 10. sat next to Jesse Jackson from Charlotte to DC, if the flight had been longer it's possible that he might have said something intelligent while talking to the other passengers after not agreeing to give up my first class seat for his nephew, guess he just didn't like me Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 11. it's surprising that there weren't numerous dents on each side and in the rear of the Rover would have been if I was driving, leaving non-functioning bikes in the rear view mirror Yes Officer - I was afraid for my life and I used the only reasonable means that I could think of to defend myself and my family Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 12. I'm at Skydive Carolina, we used to do AFF and now do AFP to answer some previous comments: yes the slots do help fill the turbine, not it's not a big money maker, yes the students are much better jumpers than with the AFF program, AFF instructors are much better at instructing than most coaches, we video every AFP jump with no extra fee, the instructor wears the camera, and debrief with video one problem this solves is the AFF student blues, where it's hard to find someone to jump with, and they end up do solos, losing interest and leaving as an example, yesterday I did a 17 point 3-way (rotating open accordians) with two of our recent graduates, freefly the exit and they built on me, they both have about 70 jumps now, we never got these results with AFF, the AFP program seems to work Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 13. AFP - it's a program that does more jumps that the 7 in AFF, somewhere around 18-25 jumps it provides the student a safe organized progression program with more training on traditional belly techniques, diving approaches to a formation, some aspects of sit flying and extensive canopy flight training, at the end of the program they have or are very close to having an A license we do it because we're building safer more experienced skydivers, the reality is that many or most students get out of the student program and want to go play with the "fun" people, we find them sit flying as soon as they get the A license, our program requires them to learn more skills which will hopefully stop them from hurting themselves and others, and the canopy part is aimed at stopping some or all of the stupid stuff people do Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 14. In Iowa private wind and solar users can not sell back to the grid. The best they can do is net zero their bill for the year interesting, wonder how they get away with that Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

  17. Clean energy least costly to power America’s electricity needs Wed, 09/18/2013 - 7:59am Springer Findings show carbon pollution from power plants can be cut cost-effectively by using wind, solar and natural gas It’s less costly to get electricity from wind turbines and solar panels than coal-fired power plants when climate change costs and other health impacts are factored in, according to a new study published in Springer’s Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences. In fact—using the official U.S. government estimates of health and environmental costs from burning fossil fuels—the study shows it’s cheaper to replace a typical existing coal-fired power plant with a wind turbine than to keep the old plant running. And new electricity generation from wind could be more economically efficient than natural gas. The findings show the nation can cut carbon pollution from power plants in a cost-effective way, by replacing coal-fired generation with cleaner options like wind, solar, and natural gas. “Burning coal is a very costly way to make electricity. There are more efficient and sustainable ways to get power,” said Dr. Laurie Johnson, chief economist in the Climate and Clean Air Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council. “We can reduce health and climate change costs while reducing the dangerous carbon pollution driving global warming.” . . . Carbon pollution imposes economic costs by damaging public health and driving destructive climate change. Working together, the White House Office of Management and Budget, the Treasury Department, the Department of Energy and eight other federal agencies put a dollar value on those damages, in an official figure called the “social cost of carbon” (SCC). The SCC is used to calculate the benefits (i.e., avoided climate damages) of carbon pollution reduction. The administration puts the best estimate at $33 per ton of carbon pollution emitted in 2010. The study also included government damage estimates from sulfur dioxide, a pollutant released simultaneously with carbon. Every year, sulfur dioxide causes thousands of premature deaths, respiratory ailments, heart disease and a host of ecosystem damages. =========================== I just love these articles that MUST BE TRUE because someone wrote the darn thing OK fine assume it's correct, what is being proposed is that something other than coal is cheaper and that somehow the customers can actually afford to pay for it, well that's BS, what the article is saying is that if you ID and capitalize the "unseen negative" costs of "bad" generation sources then that justifies the alternative source so they're saying to scrap the coal plant and install a wind spinner or panel, in my area the wind spinner is about 2.5X the cost of coal (and the fact that it works
  18. the new regs will also kill natural gas plants, the same plants that the enviros love (they conveniently forget that the gas is coming from fracking which they also don't like), all they're being asked to do is CO2 sequestration, Woo Hoo - have fun with that bring on nuclear, the envioros haven't figured out how to stop this yet but they're working on it at the samw time almost any government construction project is 2-3X over budget and months/years behind schedule the private sector is building nuclear on budget and on schedule the enviros and government are so easy to laugh at, where is the reality? idiots Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
  19. all landings are dangerous learning how to land any direction is important one reason winds over 14 are dangerous for students is because they might screw up and land downwind, then they wouldn't be students anymore, they would be accidents or worse another reason over 14 mph is dangerous is because the canopy students use is normally "oversized" for safety, other bad stuff can happen, ask your instructor to explain it I will stop now because Popsjumper will fill in the rest :) Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 23. and if yu have been keeping up with any of the latest advances in 2d materials, you wouldn't be nearly so quick to say there is no alternative to fossil fuels. the technology is not here yet for some things, but to quit trying is just wrong. and in the meantime how about energy from a non greenhouse gas emitting source, non-carbon based fuel source, price stable fuel, that has a > 95% capacity factor, has proven to be safe, and in many parts of the country can be economically built, owned and operated go nuclear Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. 24. the term Manifest Bitch was created for a reason tough, thankless job - if you are great at managing people, great at managing multiple issues, don't care about getting conflicting instructions for every task, and have a high stress tolerance then go for it highest burn-out job on the DZ is manifest if the DZ is not super busy and the DZO is really laid back, and the DZO wife/sweety/otherwise isn't involved, and the staff never ask for favors then it might work Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together.
