    Haha, I thought it was just me. I used to mow the lawn, and dump all the grass next to the wall of our house. After several mows it got big enough for me to jump into. During the winter we didnt have grass, and I invented my own form of a PLF. It worked, ive never broken a bone, jumping off of all my friend's roofs, some trees and balconies. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    Hey John, no offense man, just askin. What is the point that you would like to bring out here. Its ridiculous how much stuff happens that is beyond common sense, sure.     It is sad to see what this country is coming to. Like it was said, if you have a gun, you will have to pay attention to the rules and regs, because others are irrisponsible, you will have to be responsible. In Australia, they had a school shooting back in '96 or so. Within a year, handguns were outlawed. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are there, but I know it is highly illegal to carry handguns around. They haven't come close to seeing what America has seen, because of quick rulings that are strictly enforced. I think the police did good in this case, but the teacher shouldnt have over-reacted. There is plain common sense, and it seems a lot of Americans (and others) has lost this. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    Depends where you are. If it is a formal or quiet atmosphere, then hold it in totally. Otherwise, let it rip. It is proven to be one of the greatest tension relievers for humans, so whenever i can, i go all out. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    I am confused as to what is exactly required to get you A liscence. I had 19 jumps in September with all my requirements done (on the yellow card). I just needed a 20th jump, but couldnt get it in. All I had to do after that was a simple test to get my "A" I then changed DZ's due to other reasons. I have made my last 5 jumps at this DZ. So i just got my 25th yesterday, and I am wondering, they wanted me to do another evaluation dive. Is this totally necesarry according to USPA? The SIM confuses me! What are the required elements to get your "A" liscence according to the USPA? And do you have to fax it in and get a number, or can you simply use that card with the stamp? --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    Advice taken. I will not try to save any jumper until I have more experience! lets just hope something like this never happens! I realize now what you are saying, after freefalling for the first time in 2 months yesterday. I was all over the place. Hopefully the tunnel in 2 weeks will help out!     as a newbie here, what is the advantage of a pond when swooping? Are you hoping for a softer impact if this should happen? Or because you get a nice roostertail? We just set up a sweet 340ft swooplane with those noodle things every 20 ft to get distance. It looks pretty sweet.     So if you flared too early on approach, and your canopy stalls, you are in for a hard hit right? And you can actually have a perfect opening and beautiful canopy, and then do something to cause it to malfunction? What are some of those things?     Haha, i got home and wanted to tell everyone too! Havent jumped in two months, and what better way to celebrate such a beautiful day than to go make an awesome jump! I feel exactly the way u do!     A quick question that I am sure has been asked before but I cannot find it. And I didnt know if this is the right place to post, but it is prolly as good as any! I was under canopy today for the first time in 2 months, on my 24th jump. (A 262 Rascal, with a wingloading of 0.8:1) Playing around conservatively, I flared, and to see what would happen if I initiated the flare too early on actual approach, I held it, arms all the way down. I watched my canopy and saw it go back, back, and eventually pick up more speed (backwards), at which I let go, I didnt wanna cause a malfunction or sumtin! (Am I a woos, or bein smart?) Are you screwed if you flare to early on approach? How much, and how agressively should I play under canopy. And what happens if you continue to hold a flare? Can I actually cause something dramatic by doing something stupid? Thanx! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    Exactly. I did my first four jumps in three days, and the forth not for another week, and this was a major contributor to why I failed that level. I then kept doing them quickly, and did fine. Save up your money, and learn as much as possible by just hangin round the DZ man, thats what I did, helped bunches, and ppl got to kno me even though I didnt jump, they saw my enthusiasm. Also, why run the risk of going uncurrent when you are saving up. I would do it all together. Hope it helps! Have fun! --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei!

    Like its said earlier, pull the reserve, less likely to malfunction. If the main malfunctions, you are extremely unlikely to be able to help them out. I would also pull as soon as I pulled him/her. I would pull him/her at the highest altitude possible, more time if something goes wrong. I would stay withing close range of their canopy, but wouldn't dock. This is probably the safest way I could handle this situation with my skill. Just my humble thoughts! Cool dreams though! I used to have nightmares of falling down an endless tunnel, and get real worked up about it.
