  1. It took me years to undo the bigotry and prejudice I learned in a church based upbringing. I believe there is a God. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I believe the Bible is NOT the word of God and it is the most destructive element in human history. Men wrote it, sinners all. Why would God have sinners write his book? God would not author such a poorly written book. It is sooo open for interpretation. The Branch Dividians justified their dogma with the same book Lutherans do. God already wrote something. He proved that he can deliver text on a indelible medium. The 10 commandments are concise, logical and not anywhere near open to mis-interpretation. Why would God, Omnipotent and Omniscient, all of a sudden need a scribe? Look at the writing style between the Bible and 10 commandments.... No way are they written by the same entity. My God tells me what is right from wrong, I dont need a rediculously boring book and bad music on Sunday morning to know His will. Mike
  2. 7 yrs after I took a canopy course from Luigi and Jim Slaton, I can say beyond doubt, that it was the best money I ever spent. For a fact, the course saved me a couple times. 20 jumps after the course, I had a brake line hang and landed on rear risers (stood it up). I did it again later. EVERY landing since (900) has been a stand-up picture perfect landing. I never swooped, I did mild carving riser turns or just front risers on a straight in. Energy+conservative flight = options options = no bone screws or worse. This course should be mandatory.
  3. A few hints: 1. My parents ask me what I want for Xmas - I say nothing. I don't want anything. 2. Boobies are just a un-filtered Google click or 2 AM Cinemax away. Gotta do better than that. 3. I appreciate the creative and the world class bull-shitter. Kinda like Bush and his reasons for going to war. 4. I have tickets to Colbert Monday July 14. Im flying in Sunday, leaving Tuesday. Anyone in Manhattan has a hole card if they can show me and my friend I'm coming with a good time. (He's my best friends kid and only 20...so there are limitations....I get my free passes on American because of his Dad so I have shown the boy the world) 5. Anyone that gets BillVon to admit that I am smarter than him automatically wins.
  4. Why not? Tell ya what. I will give it to the person who comes up with the best reason for me to give it to them, real, embellished or completely fabricated. There are no rules. Also comes with a Snoopy Silk tie my grandmother gave me for Christmas. It's too bad to re-gift.
  5. It wont be worth much. Everyone I know has one. What should I do with it?
  6. A video I took in St Maarten and put on You Tube is quickly approaching 1 Million views. That seems like a lot to me, and I am wondering if I should have somehow made some money?? I get a lot of hits on my personal site, im guessing because of the video, whats the best way to make money on that? Google ads? One million views is a big deal isn't it? http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=GZJc2hyymmc

  9. That Staudacher is amazing. It turns a 9g corner like nothing else. I actually pulled 11 G's while pulling at 240mph. The wing is stressed to 23 g's.....
  10. as if this story couldnt get any stranger...My sister, also adopted at birth 35 years ago, was contacted by her biological mother on new years eve. We both knew nothing of our biological parents, and we were both found by them at age 35. What are the chances?? I can't win the lotto!
  11. Was it a coincidence that the only perfect weather day of the year so far in TX was groundhog day? I flew the Waco , Pitts and Staudacher until I couldnt walk any more..... getting old is hell. http://skaggs.smugmug.com/gallery/4278850/1/250667771#250667771
  12. The iPhone is: The best cell phone I have ever owned. By far the best mini-web browser out there. All the others suck compared. The best PDA email. The worst camera. The coolest Map app with real time traffic. Useless as an iPod even with 8GB. The coolest keyboard ever. If I dont shave, it pinches my cheek hairs between the chrome and the screen. Overall, the coolest product I own.

    Dogs..

Lisa, My parents have a border collie too. We call it the "Grand Dog". They literally love this dog more than their kids and grand kids. They have this toy squirrel that they get the dog all hyped up with. It jumps all over, barks like crazy and annoys everyone but my parents while they oncessantly play "Where is the squirrel?" They were staying at my 94 yr old grandmothers house in CA. There is a huge plate glass window in the dining room. Grandma said, "Oh look at the squirrel" The Grand Dog promptly jumps through the plate glass window. Who's fault? The old lady who should had known better than to say "squirrel". They take this dog everywhere, to other peoples houses, to restaraunts.....They won't fly anywhere because of the dog...And they fly for free. They load it up in its BMW dog seat with seat belt and entertain America with the "squirrel' game. Oh how I long for the lab-chow mix they used to have that would lay in one spot for days.

    Dogs..

Don't get me wrong, you house, your car.....Cover them with pelts for all I care. I would never say anything if it was your house or car. And, I never even meant to infer you were a bad owner. My neighbors that use my yard as a poop-a-thon are. But, for instance, at the DZ, or any other place that is common, make sure your pet, or child or self does not bother anyone unreasonably. Id say spit and hair all over me is unreasonable.

I have been closer to a dog than any person. Do you really think it is OK to let your dog jump on people and get hair on them? Im mellow until someone finds that amusing.
  17. There was one floating around Perris that had a rubber face. I have a great idea for a funny video. Lipstick cams are great. http://www.mikeskaggs.com/Aerobatics/pitts.wmv

    Dogs..

All you proud dog owners need to remember something. When I had a dog, it was family. I don't have a dog on purpose now for several reasons. Chances are, your opinion of how 'cute' your dogs antics are are not shared by those around you. Most people don't want to hear excessive barking, have hair on them, or be licked or jumped on. And, I like a no-poo yard. But, my neighbors think it is OK to let their dogs poop all over my lawn. I hate poo. If I catch a dog owner letting their dog soil my yard, Im following them home and Im going to poop on their yard myself. Poop is poop. Im getting a Yorkie next. No hair and small poop.

We had this Border Collie named Tippy. (Named before the accident). Tippy liked to chase farm trucks behind our house. Tippy failed to notice the trailer one day and got run over. They amputated her right front leg. Tippy would love to ride in the Suburban with head out window. Her head would follow opposing vehicles as they went by on the farm road. Every time - if it was a car, just watched it go by like a tennis match. If it was a pickup, she would bark at it..... Every time.
  21. I used my US iPhone on November 8th in the UK. It automatically connected to O2 and I got voicemail and IM's. I did not try to connect to any other features. As of now, there are no roaming charges on my ATT bill! (All the data was incoming)..... I love my iPhone... It needs: 1. Macromedia Flash 2. Yahoo IM 3. Video Camera
  22. I have had to jump from forum to forum to figure out what is happening here. As someone who is adopted, I am moved in more ways than one by this story. I have been feeling compelled to consider adopting a child myself, but I have a "titanic" mentality about life...women and children and the people in most need come first. It would be easy to adopt a healthy baby. But, what would be the impact if I adopted a child with HIV from an impoverished nation? With my insurance and my gift of being good with kids, I could really make a huge difference in one persons life. Yes, there are a million that I can't help but...... Taya, Are you still at Princeton? I have several friends there. Also, I get buddy Passes on Delta, and they go to South Africa now...Its standby but if you need some passes they are yours. What else can we do to help? Here is my story: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=1461817;page=1;mh=-1;;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC
