  1. Here you go. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3967986#3967986 . Ah ha ha!!! Don't know how I missed that! That's great Kim - I really wanted your picture to win
  2. bump!! So what's going on with this contest anyway?? The link doesn't work anymore, but when do we all find out who wins?? "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  3. I still prefer the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o-u0RFtyGY&feature=related "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  4. "Nataly" generated 8.85 million hits - and try as I might, I didn't find anything relating to me... I only found hits when I put "Nataly, skydiving" and even then, only one of the many hits related to me and that was on page 2 or 3... What I find really strange is when I type my full name, there is another Natalie who shows up, and she is close to my age, was a runner at uni, and has behaviour similar to mine! She's Canadian as well, although she is from Quebec. One would easily believe I did those things (races, writing articles in local newspapers, etc). Thank goodness she's a goodie-goodie, just like me!! Ha ha! 5. Hmmmm, weren't you the one who put up the prostitution poll? JerryBaumchen PS) I'm glad that I am no longer in the job market; things are not good these days. I am an *accountant* - sheesh!! Although I'm sure there is a pretty big market for prostitution as well "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  6. Well, I left the military and found a job in 1 week, whereas my search whilst still working proved unfruitful... I left that job and the same thing happened again - didn't find work until I left my job and was able to focus on jobhunting. Was "unemployed" for less than 2 weeks. Left my next job and took all my holiday at the end of my contract so by the time I found something new I was only "unemployed" for 1 day! And this was back in March, when the job market was NOT looking good... All this spans a period of 6 years... You could argue that I was very lucky, but as I stated before, I chose a profession that is versatile and always in demand. I always performed in my roles despite not always enjoying them so I have strong recommendations. And I've never suffered a pay cut. So like I said, it depends a lot on your skills, the market, and how seriously you attack the job hunt. Of course it's a riskier strategy, but it can work in your favour to be immediately available... I know for a fact I was not the strongest candidate for the last project I worked on, but I could start tomorrow and their preferred choice had 6 months notice (by then the project would be almost completed)... So I got the job
  7. Although it sounds irresponsible, it depends A LOT on your skill set and how seriously you job-hunt... I have always found it really difficult to job hunt when I am already in a job because I'm busy (working!!) and find it difficult to get time off to go to interviews. Looking for work in a different city is difficult for the same reason - it's harder to get to interviews and also, some people won't even call you if they know you're not local because they think you're either not serious about moving or they don't want to pay moving expenses (even if you don't expect them to fund your move). The easiest thing is when you treat job hunting like a full-time endeavour (that is to say that you spend all day looking and have time to get to interviews). But I have chosen to work in a field that is EXTREMELY versatile, so my successful experience in finding work may not be indicative of what would happen in other industries... 8. Here she is with her bike in front of the tower. Not her - tits are too big. and no an SV, hers is Blue i think Nah... After careful consideration, I decided I was better off sticking to my little (black) Ninja 250... I still have a lot to learn in terms of my riding skills and cost was also a factor. I think the Ninja is a suitable compromise - good for little commutes and big enough for the motorway as well. But the SV will be my most likely upgrade
  9. Nataly has a crappy internet connection and didn't see this thread until now... SHAME on everyone who would like me to degrade myself by taking a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower!!! 10. Oh, I'm sure everything will get sorted, but deary me that's a lot of time I'm going to have to waste sorting out admin-beurk!! And no, it is not a flight to the US, but if you want to pay for me to travel to London you are MORE than welcome! 13. Seriously... Is someone just messing with me or am I just running into a bit of bad luck?! 14. Oh dude, I'm so sorry to hear that I wish every driver was tested on at least a moped before a car licence was issued... It would give them a sense of our vulnerability on the road and they might just learn to LOOK before switching lanes This is very sad news.. Sorry again for your loss. I hate my job

Bullshit. Try not being able to get any job or woefully under employed. Awww it's just an expression! In fact, it should probably never be used, because obviously there is inevitably something worse than "x", but it doesn't mean the OP has no right to feel unhappy about his problem. Hating one's job can be pretty awful. You spend anywhere from 50% to 70% of your entire week at work (including weekends, but excluding sleep), so it's a big part of your life... I felt "stuck" with a company for 3 miserable years. I did have options, but due to a whole host of reasons, I'm not convinced leaving would have been better than staying. I think if there's one thing smokers have right is that they take breaks to step away from a situation they find stressful. They take 5-15 minutes, have a smoke, calm down, and come back. If the OP is not a smoker (and therefore couldn't justify a "smoke break"!), perhaps the occasional coffee break is a good alternative? Probably not very healthy either, but stress/unhappiness is surely worse than caffein... 16. Thanks everyone. Am trying lots of sleep combined with hot fluids/soup. I don't think I feel better today than yesterday, but I've got a good book to keep me company, so I guess on balance things are ok
  17. I don't feel "totally miserable and dysfunctional" - perhaps what you are describing is man-flu!! If I had *that* i would probably be begging for drugs!!!! I hate my job

I *totally* agree. Even if you have to leave, you will be happier leaving with your dignity (and references) than otherwise... Maybe try writing down what the problem is and "brainstorming" for solutions. Somehow I find putting pen to paper helps me to make the problem concrete. And once that is done, I usually find a few new ways to either resolve or at least better cope with a situation. Try it - maybe it won't work, but it can't hurt. 19. And I don't understand how some people are so keen on ingesting all kinds of meds... It's a known fact that medication alleviates symptoms but does not cure a cold. I don't object to natural remedies (within reason - marijuana is, of course "natural" but I wouldn't take it!!), but I don't like the idea of taking something unnecessary and unnatural. Something that could actually cause problems we just haven't discovered yet, because it just doesn't belong in our bodies. I *would* take medication if the pain were unbearable - otherwise, pain/discomfort is our body's way of telling us to slow down and recover. I'm not saying I "need" to suffer.. Just that I don't think medicating is the right answer for me. So I am a fan of relief - just not the synthetic kind. 20. My internet connection is painfully bad here, which is why I'm not posting a hell of a lot these days! Explanation... Well, I was on DZ.com, and there was a TV broadcast about Thai prostitutes. And as much as the show tried to portray it as a horrible trade, all I could see were girls who were (apparently) delighted they were earning about 10 times the average educated person did. So despite myself, I couldn't feel sorry for them, since they seemed to choose their profession. That being said, I did have a niggling feeling if this was their only option to earn good money, it's not really a *choice*... I just didn't know how to reconcile the feeling that they seemed happy, but simultaneously wondering if they would still choose the same job if they had other options... Hmm... Dunno... I don't object to it in principle - if it's a job that a woman chooses because she *wants* to do it... I was simply unable to decide at the end of the documentary whether I was "ok" with it or not. 21. Been sneezing all day, and I don't like to medicate... Anyone have any home remedies (not involving drugs) they swear by for the common cold? "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  22. So Nataly ...seriously now ... You are not realy thinking about switching jobs are you? Did the idea of that excite you because you thought you might have a chance?? No, silly, I'm not changing careers.. At least, not for prostitution! (If I won the lottery, I would certainly not be in Finance anymore - until then, not much choice!!) 23. If we go on the basis that man discovered sex before discovering how to make fire (which seems a logical assumption)... Well, I'm guessing that yes, prostitution (sex for profit) existed before bakers (cooking stuff requires a fire/oven/microwave!!!).
