  1. Hehe arching, whats that, somethign you do on hop and pops right? hehe, just kidding, I actually do belly fly sometimes Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  2. Hey man, not attacking you, notice I even stepped back and said even my shit stunk and that canopy coaching would be the best option Cheers and Blues Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  3. Last seen in zephyrhills by me... but that was like 2 winters ago Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. Tried turning it out of a little brakes? A lot of brakes? Any canopy gets easier to hold the fronts down if you unload them some first. It might change the way you have to set up a lot, but it does make the canopy easier to dive steeper, conversly with a slow slow carve with just a little riser and alot of harness, the speed will build up so much that getting the risers down an extra INCH is almost impossible.....but isn't that what we're after anyway? my .02, you can get anything to dive. Be safe.
  5. Watch TV upside down while eating doritos actually her is what I used to do.... get s ubway ticket in th emiddle of the day when no one is on... spread legs apart until I could feel my ass pushing forward not hold onto anything. let your legs do the balancing in this position... it will help I promise. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. Just wondering how you initiate your turns... I found the pilot to have decent riser pressure. Here are the scenarios I envision with this...(please dont take offense, just trying to figure out why a pilot with your wingloading would have such high pressure.) a. brake lines are too short, do a test at altitude by looking up in full flight and then reach for your front risers, is there still slack so you can pull on your front risers? if not have an inch added and jump it again, notice the difference and try to dial in the right length. On my current canopy, I had to add 6 inches to my brake lines. b. approach type. if you are doing a rapid what I like to call pull and pray, the pressure will build up quickly. you might want to try a carving turn, which in the end will build up more speed and will make your ability to abort when needed a lot easier, try doing this, at 4000 and above. take both front risers in hand, pull both symmetrically, then gradually either pull further on one or lessen on one. see how long you can hold thiswhen you havce reached your desired angle of turn (remember do this at altitude not close to ground) even up the risers either up or down, but still pulling on them. then once you are done with that check altitude. you will find you remained in the dive longer. then after that try a pull and pray or a assymetrical turn with out starting and returning to double fronts and try to crank it around quick. you will find that the altitude loss is less and the riser pressure is highr. so going back to my reading I find that if we use a carving turn, a we stay in the dive longer, are able to control it better, and since the dive is longer build more speed. that pilot should be a fine canopy for you to fly for a while, if you have any questions, or if you think I am jsut an idiot, contact Brian Germain (he is one here somewhere) or jsut buy his book and read it cover to cover to get some great information. 7. Well Trae, I have some really bad news for ya, I am actually a safety conscious skydiver. But I do like to poke fun at myself... Plus I am not at the ranch enough ;) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. I saw him two weekends ago but went to Sussex to help with the packing last weekend and then to a wedding when I saw him, he was like a guy who snorted way too much coke in a police station, checking his gear, walking around with his rig on his back like anyone at the ranch would fuck with anyones shit (outside of baby powder in the slider) I guess someone was picked on as a child and doesnt realize that skydiving is something we took up so that we could be more free in ourt lives, not all paranoid and upset all the time? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. Yeah I once had the great opportunity to be jumping in between 3 cells, that were about 8-10 miles out or so... it was amazing to watch the storms as I dropped, and then packed very quickly and went home ;) but when they are that far away it is neat to watch.... now though, I am much more picky about the weather/winds I will jump in that is for sure... which is why I like first and last load the most. Cheers and Blues Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. I have landed off a few times, some of which were due to Eloy running a really long jump run to empty the plane of jumpers in one pass... the other times (at the ranch) I landed off due to one of two things... A.) a 360 degree turn/dive on my canopy that left me a little disoriented and I started flying the wrong way. B.) letting go of the plane jsut as I felt the tail wiggle signal for a 180 turn from the plane. both times I made a decision by about 1500 feet and landed safely in a field. Making your decision when you are not sure you can make it back is very important because then you can start to assess the issues with your alternate landing area (some at the ranch have very irritable emus apparently, others have very irritable farmers) so make your decision high and prepar to PLF brother Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. I do this all the time :) cause without the people who mentored/jumped with me and taught me things.. where would I be. plus there is nothing like the look on someones face when they get there first dock :) http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. oo oo pick me...I promise to continue carving 180s over the tarmac/road to the loading area and start my turns over the trees ;) cheers Dave Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. I had a similar experience...what I learned from it is that snappy turns can lead to collapsed cells. Try being smoother in your inputs to achieve the same effect, a smoother toggle input (not so quick, will give you more controlabilty and less desire for the canopy to collapse/ spin up. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. You know what, I had the same though at the very start of the thread when veter called the person running the biongo a bitch or something like that Hi Kim!
  15. well seeing as how you are the second person to tell me that and a lawn dart ;) man what would momma lawn dart say... or anthony or any other of your compatriots that I pack for and am friendly with...see I am not an asshole, I may drive a car like one and I may play one on TV but in truth, I notice someone who is attacking people because he is being told he does stuff that is unsafe, that is above and boyond simply saying something along the lines of "I got it" or "I am special and gravity and physics doesnt apply to me" And Actually, except for not swooping...when someone told me I was doing something unsafe I listened, except for those damn "pull and pray" hook turns... but as far as landing cross pattern, or not following a pattern, or not tracking up the line of flight, or doing other things like that, I listened to every thing that people said. So does that make me an asshole, maybe for trying to tell someone they needed to change what they are doing and leave their ego at home before coming to the dropzone, because when we try to tell someone something, generally there is a reason, not because we are picking on someone... case in point, when I first started skydiving, I learned at the ranch, I had the typical problems with flaring...now the perosn who was running this contest took time every time she knew I was landing and would run out onto the landing area screaming flare you fucking pussy flare... and you know what It worked. a little unconventional but it worked and I thank her and will remember that for the rest of my days. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. I do all the time in fact most of the people I jump with do I even know a guy who was knocked out by a tracker from his jump he woke up around 2 grand Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. can anyone tell I got bored at work ? anyone... bueller?? bueller? http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. No mike I always sweat and give off an offensive odor, or maybe that is my jumpsuit, I keep expect to see it heading to the loading area by itself soon... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. Thats cool the ranch seems to like people with senses of humor. Cheers Dave Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. uh, I'm new but I understand it. And to someone else, yeah he could just get banned from the dz, but then thats just creating a safety problem for the unsuspecting dz down the road. Why not try to deal with it in-house. If these people didn't care they would do nothing, but they are doing something (public ridicule) to get the guys attention. I think he would sue the ranch if he got banned, we already have discovered what a litigious guy he is. 22. hmmm labled unsafe by jumpers at the ranch ;) the same place were people hook in between trees and the packing matt, the same place where people yell fire in the hole around the fire, and everyone runs, the same place where people tried to tell me what they are trying to tell you and you aint getting it, and niether did I I guess Titanium or pine will be your teacher bro. good luck with it. Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. wow so this guys name is yuri, and if you make fun of him, or try oto lecture him you might wind up with a lawsuit, so look out fo rhim ;) hehe this is awesome....next week on as the prop turns, an idiot blames the tarot reador for his cutaway.... dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. Tom, Once again an awesome reply to an issue, you astound me with your clarity which others sometimes mistake for humor ;) hehe that was badass! Dave LOL http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
