HOW THE F#*% DO YOU GET A NEW ZP CANOPY IN THE D BAG?
FireMedicJumper replied to nikyboy's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have found that packing a new ZP canopy indoors in the low humidity air conditioned air can be pretty tough but the canopy seems much easier to control outside in warmer air and more humidity. On the other hand maybe its just all the sweat on it when packed outdoors. -
OK. I just wanted to make sure its age didn't automatically trump these other factors. Don't want to waste my time with it if it did. I actually plan on giving it to a friend who would only be lightly loading it in the event of a reserve ride, but I want to make sure I am giving them something safe before I do it.

I guess part of my question is does the canopy's age alone make it unairworthy?
-
I have an old Micro Raven 150, DOM sometime in 1988. Was wondering if the riggers here would consider it airworthy and if so at what wingloading? I have not had it pull tested and was just wondering if it is even worth the trouble. This is mainly an academic discussion for me since I don't plan to use the Micro Raven and have a new PD 143 in the rig this reserve was once in.

Well, thanks anyway. Sorry to hear about your laptop. I just finished listing my rigs on rigminder. Bummer, I have one reserve out of date right now! -

Is your repack software still available? Can it accommodate multiple rigs? -
looking for a DZ near Ft. Benning.
FireMedicJumper replied to psf's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Come on over to Skydive Opelika in Tuskegee. We have jumpers from Benning at the DZ quite frequently. It's a great family type atmosphere and soldiers are always very welcome. Drop by the website at www.skydiveopelika.net and feel free to ask questions in the forums there. -
Everything skydiving related but my rig stolen
FireMedicJumper replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Absolutely file a police report. If you do not report your property stolen and later discover it, it will be your word against someone elses that the stuff actually belongs to you. Most states that I am aware of require pawn brokers to file detailed police reports on all items that are accepted in their shops. Also, it doesn't hurt to check the pawn shops yourself. Most pawn brokers hate thieves, and will work with you to help recover your stuff. I worked in the pawn business for 11 years, and I always loved catching thieves and returning property to the rightful owners. -

Check out this link to a story about the supposed missle. It appears the NY Times may be a tad off the mark on this one. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=48374 -
If I remember correctly, the video had a note that said those particular jumper were using canopies packed with the slider down.

Schwarzenegger denies Williams clemency plea
FireMedicJumper replied to Nightingale's topic in Speakers Corner
The biggest travesty in the Tookie Williams case is that he was allowed to live on death row for the past 26 years. That is absolutely no justice to the four people who he brutally murdered. He should have been executed years ago and saved the taxpayers the money it cost to keep him alive, and freed up a slot on death row for some other butcher. -
I recently got my brand spanking new rig. I just wanted to publicly thank the folks at Mirage, Square 1, and PD for being so helpful. I bought the G4 from Ward during WFFC, and he did a great job with everything. The G4 was just as ordered, and was delivered quickly. Christian at Square 1 delivered great customer service and went out of his way to help help me with a last minute canopy change, and worked with the fine folks at Performance Designs to make it happen. My experience was very good with everyone involved, and these individuals/companies have earned my repeat business.

FireMedicJumper replied to gerryfuss's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Less than 24 hours ago. I made 4 on Saturday and 4 more on Sunday. The weather was great on both days and we got to jump from 10K - 11K almost every time.
