If you are a candidate and you have the bucks get Lasik. Its great.

Just to clarify, I have no interest in supporting crooks or lowlifes, or in damaging the sport I love in any way. I simply wanted to get others who were knowledgeable to chime in concerning the staff at the Pell City DZ. If anyone cares to look at my profile, they will see I have my home DZ listed as Skydive Opelika, Buddy Blue's DZ. I have made jumps at several other DZs, but this is home. Truth be told I probably wouldn't be jumping if it weren't for Buddy's DZ. I learned on static line and probably wouldn't or couldn't have afforded AFF at the time. As far as Buddy himself is concerned, he can be a crusty dude to deal with sometimes, but he got his crust honest. He has always treated me more than fairly. Buddy doesn't put up with any shit thats for sure, and you always know where you stand with him, but I don't think he treats people unfairly.

It seems that the Skyride affiliated dropzone currently located in Pell City, AL will be moving it's operation to my hometown of Prattville. I've never been to the DZ, but I'm curious just how many of the "staff" listed on their webpage actually work at this DZ. http://www.skydivebirmingham.com/main.html Don't know much about the whole Skyride operation except what I read here but maybe some of you familiar with them can check out the staff page at the above link and let me know what you think. I know at least a few of the people I see listed there do not work there so it makes me wonder who else doesn't.

Thats pretty funny. Almost sounded better than St. Anger. Used to be a big Met fan, but wow did that CD blow!

I bought my current main from Richard and had no problems. He's a little slow on the emails and I dealt with him some on the phone. I think hes a little different personality wise and the website is truly annoying, but the price was right and the canopy was just as he described. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again.

The death of Skydiving
FireMedicJumper replied to mjosparky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually we had an old U-haul that probably hasn't moved since the 60's to store gear and a small trailer for the FJC. Damn, I miss home. I think everyone's whining a lot about this. Times change. Our generation is different than the founders and our kids will be different than us. Big deal. Find a DZ you like or move on to said sports like scuba or drinking. Hey thats not true! We moved that truck just a few years ago. We had to push it, but we moved it! We miss you dude, when are you gonna grace us with your presence again? -
Neptune freefall speed readings
FireMedicJumper replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
The average speed was 196. I think the speeds it gave me are possible, but not very likely. I'm not putting too much stock in the speed readings anyway. It's more of a novelty than anything else to me. -

Neptune freefall speed readings
FireMedicJumper replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
I weigh about 215-220 lbs exit weight. I'm inclined to believe the neptune since when I came out of the stand it was very rough. It almost felt like a freefall collision you might get on a funneled RW dive -
Neptune freefall speed readings
FireMedicJumper replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
On a jump this past Saturday I generated some numbers on my neptune I don't quite believe. The dive was a solo freefly which I took into a stand and held for the duration of the jump. According to my neptune, exit was from 13.4K and deployment at 3.6k. Freefall speeds were: 12K 123 mph 9K 192 mph 6k 255 mph 3k 24 mph The neptune is mounted on the mudflap with a bonehead bracket. Basically I'm wondering if being mounted in this configuration is causing it to read wrong or could the stand held for that long really have been that fast? -
The seven cell canopy should pack somewhat smaller although it might be difficult to tell much difference. It has less fabric due to fewer ribs etc. the same way a airlock canopy will pack slightly larger and a cross brace canopy will pack even larger still due to all the extra fabric.

Who is the most interesting person you have taught to pack?
FireMedicJumper replied to rhys's topic in Gear and Rigging
That is awesome, and just think of the money he will save on air freshener! -
I think it would depend on what size container you have. By that I mean is it already at the bottom end of its size range with the 150 in it? On all the Mirage containers I have seen, the range of canopy sizes is usually listed on a label inside the main pack tray. I would expect the Spectre to have a slightly smaller pack volume, but not so much so as to cause a problem that couldn't be solved by adjusting the closing loop length if the container is sized correctly. Of course if you really want to know for sure don't take my word for it. Check out Mirage's container sizing guide. http://www.miragesys.com/DesignOrder/SizingGuideByContainer.aspx

I think and hope we are keeping them too busy over there for them to attack again over here.

Wasn't saying it is the same war, just simply pointing out the flawed logic. I believe your theory is akin to saying that muggings, robberies, and burglaries will stop when people don't own anything worth stealing.
-
Oh, I like this theory. Maybe we should've blown up the twin towers and killed thousands of our own civilians. Therefore the targets would have been removed and 9/11 could've been avoided.

My Latest Excersize of the 2nd Amendment
FireMedicJumper replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in Speakers Corner
Maybe so. I think I was somewhat irritated by statements such as... Guns are bullshit. Get rid of them. I would like to see something like... Murderers are bullshit. Get rid of them. Thankfully this VT whacko chose to get rid of himself for us as our society probably could not bring itself to execute such a person. -

Bill I didn't start a thread about my favorite serial killer My owning a firearm has absolutely nothing to do with the VT Massacre. I believe only some one who wants to blame an object rather than the person responsible could be offended here. -
My Latest Excersize of the 2nd Amendment
FireMedicJumper replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in Speakers Corner
It really does, but I'm thinking of getting the frontstrap checkered at maybe 25 lines per inch and it would be a bit better. -

Long live the Colt 1911 and the 2nd Amendment. Just got this baby a couple of days ago although its been in the family for years. -
I don't own one, but I work part time at the Alabama plant where both the Sonata and Santa Fe are built. It's a top notch state of the art facility and from what I can tell, they do excellent quality control.

I bought a Samurai from Richard several months ago, and was very happy with his customer service. Also, his shipping was quick. Could do without the music on the website, but then I usually hate music on websites.

Took this one a couple of weeks ago.
