  1. if you're not prepared to do any studying, you're never going to learn. Shame really, you could be better than this.
  2. You are lying. No one suggested the Ark was damaged. That's a lie. You're doing exactly what you claim to be standing against. Mote, meet beam. So why do you care about any of it? Just your personal grudge against Kallend making you manipulate facts and misrepresent statements?
  3. That would not be ironic. Comedy, but not irony. But the owners of a theme park celebrating the world's most famous preparations for the worlds most famous flood not bothering to prepare for a flood? Yes, that's irony. No it's not. At best, it's 100% accurate. At its very worst it's mildly ambiguous. But on the other hand "This is the place to discuss politics, guns, religion ". Duh.
  4. No, the Ark theme park says so. It's their engineers who said they needed a proper retaining wall, and their engineers who said they needed better drainage. The insurance company is simply pointing out that the policy doesn't cover upgrades from it building it properly in the first place. Right, because once you've built a replica Ark you don't care if anything else you own gets flooded. Oh wait, sorry, apparently they do. They really, really do.
  5. No-one suggested that. The linked story was explicitly clear that it wasn't. Why do you feel the need to lie about it? Why is the Ark so important to you?
  6. Yes, Ron's post is textbook irony. So if you know what the word means, I guess you are just too proud to admit it applies in the other thread too. You should spend some time thinking about why that is.
  7. Pretty obvious you either have no idea what irony means, or you're just letting your personal grudges blind you to reason. But hey, maybe you support these multi-millionaire conservative christians who built a sub-standard cheap-ass road and now want their insurance company to pay for it to be upgraded to spec. Personal responsibility, right-wing USA style!
  8. Funny that you accuse Kallend of lying by implication, while you are lying by explicitly lying. It was an access road to the Ark, part of the Ark attraction, that was damaged. That's something to do with the Ark. Oh, and by the way from another article; "Engineers it hired recommended it replace the barrier with a retaining wall with drilled concrete shafts to prevent further damage, and the theme park also repaved and repaired portions of the road, the grading and added some drainage improvements. The total cost was about $1m, the lawsuit says. But the insurance companies denied claims for the improvements, saying that the policy had an exclusion for correcting design deficiencies or faulty workmanship." So, the owners of a Noah's Ark theme park failed to adequately prepare for heavy rain. Yes, Coreece, I really do believe that is the absolute, on the nose, couldn't be more perfect if you tried, dictionary definition of ironic.
  9. Which bit of the headline says the Ark was damaged? Which bit of the article isn't completely clear that the Ark wasn't damaged? Why are you stirring shit and being an ass over things that weren't said?
  10. Wow, you can read. Would you like a cookie? What's your point?
  11. Um, right. What, or who, do you think the UN is?
  12. Well, he said possible order of events, and that he was praying for a better outcome. Clearly the prayers worked, no further analysis required
  13. No it wasn't. The purpose of the war was to go after Al Qaeda specifically, not Afghanistan in general. Al Qaeda was still carrying out co-ordinated international terrorist attacks for years afterwards. Bin Laden wasn't killed until 2011. Unless you redefine the purpose of the war, its objectives were nowhere near complete in 2003. Then you should never have gone into Afghanistan, because doing that would not have achieved anything usefull from a US self interest point of view. And that's why they hate you. If you dont want to face terror from those who think you're the Great Satan, don't prove them right by doing evil in their home towns.
  14. Are you serious? It was the basis for your entire argument but you couldn't be bothered to read more than ten words? I read it. How do you think I knew which website it came from? Your own quest for truth may go no deeper than the headlines, but don't assume that everyone else is the same slave to confirmation bias that you are.
  15. Dude, don't try and bullshit your way out of talking nonsense. You already specified the exact part of that headline you were talking about and it's EXACTLY not what Airdvr was just talking about; "Ireland declared a climate emergency is sensationalism." Again, that's not media sensationalism, that is telling the truth. It's not obtuse to respond to the things you actually say instead of trying to guess what's really going on inside your head.
  16. So to support your position that you're being sold AGW, you quoted a site trying to sell you against AGW?
  17. Funny, I thought the headline was suggesting that declaring an emergency was a hysterical reaction. Again, did you not notice that the headline comes from Oilprice.com? A website that exists to serve investors and traders in the oil and gas industry? When you think even the fossil fuel industry is forcing climate change on you, you might be a teeny bit paranoid.
  18. Look at the thread title. That's what provides the context for this discussion and that's what I've been talking about. If you want to talk about a different subject, say that you want to talk about a different subject, don't just post riddles and nonsense and get pissy when you're called on it. It's juvenile behaviour. Just so you know I'm being 100% clear in what I'm saying, Ireland declaring a climate emergency is not media sensationalism.
  19. I can’t believe I have to point this out, but Ireland=/media. It’s a country, not a newspaper.
  20. What does that have to do with anything I just said?
  21. I’m only pointing out that the headlines you chose to post are accurate not alarmist. But since you want to go down that road, if it’s everywhere, everyday, how come you didn’t manage to find any actual examples of media alarmism to post? I mean honestly, did you even notice that one of your examples came from an oil and gas industry website? Seriously, when you’re convinced even your allies are out to get you, you might be just a touch paranoid don’t you think?
  22. But if I say you said a thing that you said, then what I said is true regardless of whether or not what you said is true.
