There are reasons you can dislike people. Disagreeing with any choice of any person doesn’t necessarily make you a bigot. I’d have thought that was obvious. I’d imagine you’re not disposed to think fondly of anyone who joins Antifa, for example, but I wouldn’t call you a bigot because of it. The gay thing is different though. Why are you prejudiced against gay people?

And they are correct. Atheism is at least as good a basis for morality as religion. That’s called begging the question. You may think consciousness is either an illusion or the inhabitant of a metaphysical realm beyond the knowable universe but you haven’t proved it. You can’t simply assume it is true and then use it as a ‘gotcha’ trap. You are, again, simply using a god of the gaps approach. And confusing the issue by pointlessly framing it as a morality discussion. It really is your fault that people weren’t getting your point.

Again, god of the gaps. Because we don't fully understand it yet you assume it's impossible. How many times in human history has that assumption been made, only to be later disproved? Exactly, which is why it's not helpful for you to have framed your OP around the question of morality. This is why no one understood your first post. It's because you said you were talking about morality but you're not. You're talking about free will vs predeterminism. You're misunderstood because you misrepresented the discussion.

I'm not sure I buy that. So far, even the moderate Republicans have almost exclusively shown themselves willing to put party before principle when it comes to Trump. The chances that the kind of hard-liners who would be gunning for Suleimani would ever consider siding with the Dems to remove an R president from office are as close to zero as its possible to get. In fact the way they've handled the situation is one of the few things recently that's bought any criticism of him from within the party.

I'm confused too - in another thread you said that once a changing definition was enshrined in the dictionary it's not wrong anymore. So if it's not the flexible nature of the english language that's got you so worked up here I guess it must be your discomfort at knowing it's describing you.

It's funny, no-one was accusing you of being a homophobe until you said something homophobic while for some reason pre-emptively defending yourself against the accusation. I guess you must have known what was in your own mind. Oh right, 'some' of them? And yet you made the sweeping generalisation that you disagree with the lifestyle of homosexuals. Not some of them, them. I'm sorry, but since the purported reason you're in this thread in the first place is that you disagree with imprecise use of language you're going to have to own that statement. There is no reason that you could have for disagreeing with the lifestyle of all homosexuals apart from just not liking the fact that they are gay. That does make you a homophobe. Probably just because 'homosexualist' sounds more like someone who does homosexual things. I'd be happy to call you that if you prefer, though.

If you only define counter stories as violent insurgencies against the government, yeah. Not sure if that’s a particularly great record for a movement though. In in terms of all other forms of counter story, as in Q posting stuff that is either not true or batshit crazy, there are many many more.

It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. Actually, you challenged me when I said that the existence of consciousness was self evident. No one else has had a problem with it, so I have no idea what you're getting at here. If you want to talk about how you exoerience consciousness then why on earth did you start a thread about atheism? Nothing in what you've just posted has anything to do with your OP.
